Fantastic location, great house, wonderful host family.

Left on 10/03/2012 for a stay in September 2012

We had a wonderful time and feel like we made new friends. None of us spoke Italian and Maria, Cinzia and andrea and their family spoke just as little English. We had some hilarious pantomime conversations but everything we needed was provided. They even met us in Montepertoli when we got lost relying on GPS instead of andrea's directions to the house! The accomodations were even better than we could have expected. Maria brought us wine in the evenings and helped us get bread from the baker who visited every morning. Andrea gave us a tour of the wine collective when we visited it, by accident, while he was delivering grapes from his farm, and a wine tasting, and fixed the TV as soon as we realized it wasn't working, and people working in the vineyards offered us grapes right off the vine. Yes, the nearest grocery is five minutes away by car, and we were out in the "middle of nowhere" but that's what we wanted. We rented a car and made the short trip into Florence and Siena and nearby villages with no trouble. All in all, I would highly recommend this house to anyone with a few days to spend in Tuscany.

      Wonderful view of Italian life!

Left on 09/30/2012 for a stay in September 2012

This was a faboulous stop on our quick tour of Tuscany. The house has so much more charm and character than pictures could ever reveal. We arrived fairly late in the evening to be met by the family and given a guided tour of the house. The rooms are large, really well decorated and very cozy. Linens are crisp and the beds very comfortable. The kitchen is beautiful and stocked with everything you could need to cook. Our first morning Maria, the grandmother, took me on a tour of the property. She introduced me to the chickens whose eggs we had for breakfast and the rabbits she raises. We picked fruit from the trees and enjoyed a fresh grape crostata that she made in her outdoor woodfired oven. Although I speak zero Italian, I think that we did fairly well understanding each other. There was a bottle of their house made red wine waiting for us on the table. I can't even describe the views from the house. Surrounded by and olive orchard and grape vines. I felt as if we had just come to visit family, and was truly said to be leaving. I can't wait to get back an visit again. This time I'm going to try to learn a little Italian first, and maybe Maria will teach me how to make that crostada!

The best holiday ever in the loveliest place with wonderful host

Left on 05/30/2012 for a stay in May 2012

We recommend this holiday home to anyone who enjoys peaceful, idylic beautiful countryside, home comforts and friendly neighbours! My husband and I stayed for a week with our son and wife and daughter and her fiancee. The house was spacious, perfect for 6 people with private space for each couple.
Andrea has converted this part of the old monastery with great care and sympathy and they have provided beautifully clean and modern facilities for a homely stay. There was everything we could have needed.
Casa Guilia is perfectly placed for easy day trips to Florence, Siena, San Giminagno etc. You can enjoy all the beauty of Italy's historic towns then return to rural tranquility every evening. This was our perfect holiday.
The Proveddi family were friendly, helpful and kind, and so generous -though we only understood a little Italian, the language was no barrier with such lovely hosts.
We wholeheartedly recommend this place- we only wish we could have stayed longer!
