Atlanta GA USAAmazing views and hospitality, hidden gem!
Left on 04/21/2013 for a stay in April 2013
Our stay at Casa Cielo was wonderful, secluded yet near the rain forest reserves. The host family went out of its way to ensure we had information prior to our trip about the country, region, and about getting to the house. The house was well stocked with linens, coffee, and other key items for our stay. Our family of 4 (two elementary aged children) were treated to a wonderful Tico snack upon arrival and orientation about the house and local adventure options. The family helped us secure a fun ziplining adventure. It is a fairly short (bumpy) drive into Santa Elena/Monteverde (where we saw the Quetzel). The views from the house are amazing all times of day. The parrots, toucans, and many other birds will turn non-birders into amateur bird watchers. We hiked on the many rugged trails around the house as well, enjoying the banana trees and other nature. Despite afternoon heat the valley breezes kept the house comfortable. The night views of the sunset and stars was great. The balcony hammock provided an amazing way to read a book and to enjoy the constellations.

The casa cielo is a beautiful cottage in Monteverde. It has everything you need and the view is spectacular (especially the sunset)! Veronica is a great host and very helpful. Stuart, her son, showed us around and could tell us a lot about surrounding nature. To go to the casa cielo a car is needed – 4wd preferred.

Left on 03/10/2013 for a stay in February 2013
Our only regret of staying at Casa Cielo is that we didn't have longer to stay! This place is a dream come true. Booking it was super easy & Veronica, Alex & Stuart couldn't have been nicer, more hospitable or helpful. The little cabin is so inviting & cozy. We truly came to think of it as our home away from home. The view is to die for, & we practically spent our entire stay on the balcony taking it all in. Birdwatching on the balcony with a glass of wine, or a fresh brewed cup of coffee in the morning...what could be more relaxing? The location is perfect- close enough to all the things you want to do in town (Monteverde Reserve, Selvatura, etc. & shops, restaurants, & the grocery store) but away from the hustle & bustle. At Casa Cielo, you are surrounded by peace. While we enjoyed the reserve & also zip lining & the hanging bridge tour at Selvatura, our favorite part of our time there was the day we went to the neighbor's farm & rode on horseback to their hot spring- not to be missed! & just being at the cabin relaxing & enjoying the surroundings was another highlight... Do not hesitate to book this cabin! You will not regret it or ever forget your stay there. Thank you again & again, V,A, & S! We hope to one day return!

I stayed in Casa Cielo with my family a few months ago.
The house is simple and pretty, perfectly clean, with plenty of room for our family of 4, well equipped. I especially loved the kind notes put everywhere by the owners to explain where the things are so you don't need to look for the knives or anything. They also provide the important telephone numbers like the one to order meals, indicate how to dispose of waste in an ecofriendly way, and so on, which helps the guests feel at home immediately.
From the bedroom upstairs you can have a hot bath in an extra large tube while watching the stunning sunsets over the forest and the sea, what else could you dream of?
The owners who live close by are so kind hearted, helpful, hard workers, that you will never feel alone if you don't want too, in spite of the privacy of that little house in the forest.
I recommend this place if you want to visit Monteverde while staying away from the busier places of Santa Elena and no being cold, as Casa Cielo stands at a lower altitude than Santa Elena. Ideal place for families with lots of things to see in the farm and the mountain.
We will definitely come back. -

San FranciscoTruly amazing!!
Left on 02/12/2013 for a stay in December 2012
We had the most fabulous time at Casa Cielo. The view is priceless, the cabin cozy, and our hosts, Veronica, Alexander and son, Stuart, couldn't have been more accomodating, and friendly, and that incl. their dogs as well. We were greeted by the hosts, with a lovely, traditional Costa Rican lunch...all organic of course...and much appreciated after a long car ride. The cabin is surrounded by lush vegetation and a bird watchers paradise. Highly recommend it to anybody who wants peace and quiet, and a true Costa Rican experience. Can't wait to visit again and stay at our hosts new place, by the river at "Rancho el Rio", in Monteverde.

TorontoThe Best View in Monteverde - Inspiring and Unforgettable Experi
Left on 01/02/2013 for a stay in December 2012
My wife and I statyed here on Christmas day and boxing day 2012 and it was a gift in itself - I only wish we could have stayed longer. The view is dreamlike and completely unobstructed with more wildlife than you will ever see in the surrounding Reserves and sunsets you will race back to. It's just off the only road to Monteverde and is easily accessible and close to all the attractions in the area. Veronica, Alex and their son Stewart were very gracious hosts and offered a truly unique and inspiring experience with great recommendations for activities and restaurants off the beaten path. We rode horses to a natural hotspring and hiked the Curi Concha Reserve among other things that I would highly recommend.
They were waiting for us when we arrived with a delicious home cooked and grown meal and organic coffee. If you're lucky, Stewart will take you on a guided tour of the farm to see toucans, parrots, possums, natural springs, fish ponds and much more.
This is a truly special place and if you have an opportunity to stay here, don't hesitate, it's a deal at twice the price and will soon be booked up months and months ahead of time I'm sure.

The family was incredibly nice and did everything to make this as relaxing as possible. Given the general stress of traveling around Costa Rica (broken down taxis, late arrivals of pickup vans), they saved us from going back into town by cooking us dinner when we got in late. Their son gave us a tour of their farm, which was a lot of fun. They even offered us some vegetables for cooking. They even helped book fun activities to do around the area, which we wouldn't have been able to find (aka horse back ride to a private hot spring in their neighbors "back yard"). It was easier than advertised to get back and forth from Monteverde. The instructions they've placed around the house ensured that.
Excellent hospitality, amenities, views, comfort, and relaxation. If we had known how amazing Casa Cielo was going to be, we would have canceled other reservations to stay longer. Did I mention it offers arguably the best sunset you will ever see?!? The pictures were amazing. Oh, and when we woke up their was a bird perched on the balcony right outside, within 2 feet. If you're a bird watcher, this is an excellent location. -

I stayed here for 3 nights with my wife on our honeymoon trip to Costa Rica and we both fell in love with the cabin and the country. Everything about the cabin was perfect for our needs during our trip and my only regret was not being able to stay here longer. The cabin is in a very private location but still has quick, easy access to Monteverde and Santa Elena. Personal favorites were the perfect temperatures and jaw dropping views provided by the massive windows on both floors. A late night soak in the tub upstairs or a few hours in the hammock on the top deck provide the perfect atmosphere for a relaxed but romantic evening. The family that owns the cabin are incredibly nice people who welcome you into their personal slice of paradise with open arms and smiles. After an impromptu tour of the property and farm with Stuart, we had hand picked organic food to eat for two full days! Make sure to speak with Veronica about the tours available in the area. Her recommendations were fantastic! The horseback/hot springs tour should not be missed by couples. My wife and I both want to return to Costa Rica soon and we will certainly be back to Casa Cielo for another visit to their paradise.

Left on 08/08/2012 for a stay in July 2012
My family of 4 stayed at Casa Cielo in mid-late July for 5 nights. I have two boys 9 and 7 years old. Every afternoon they looked for Stuart (Veronica and alex's son) to play with. They had a great time together and Stuart is a great host. My boys loved being on the farm and giving all the animals alot of attention.
As for the accomodations, this is one of our favorite places that we stayed at on our 3.5 week tour of Costa Rica. It was peaceful and the view was uncomparable to anything you have ever experienced. I got hooked on bird watching here since there were so many different kinds. One even would peck on our window everyday.
Veronica and alex were great hosts and we enjoyed getting to know their family. Veronica was very gracious and helped us book and select tours. They even had a wonderful Costa Rican snack and coffee upon arrival.
As for going to Monteverde, it is a place like no other. It is a nice mountain top to get away from the humidity during the hot months. If you come to Costa Rica - stay here - you won't regret it! -

Left on 04/24/2012 for a stay in April 2012
Casa Cielo was a great place to stay at to explore the Monteverde area. The two story cabin was very private and nestled in trees at the top of a mountain with a
spectacular view of the Nicoya Bay and surrounding mountains. The cabin was spacious and comfortable and fully equipped. I especially enjoyed the large windows and balcony to look out and enjoy the view and the local birds. The host family who live lower down on the property and run a farm were very welcoming, kind and helpful. They gave us alot of good information about the activities that are availble in the area and went out of their way phoning and checking for times and availibility of these different activities. Our children were also invited on a tour of the farm and to meet all the animals which they often visited. This made the stay very special for them.

Left on 04/17/2012 for a stay in February 2012
My girlfriend Kelly and I stayed at this lovely little cabin while visiting family in February. The views are truly unparalleled. Waking up to the sunset each morning and listening to the birds was such a treat.
We both live in NYC, so trading the madness of the city for the serenity of the jungle was a welcome exchange. We loved having beers watching the sun set on the back porch.
The couple that run the cabin are super friendly and welcoming. Veronica speaks English and Spanish fluently, which is very helpful. Alex is totally cool and super helpful (but doesn't speak much English).
We're excited to return and enjoy a few more days in paradise sometime soon. -

San FranciscoA truly magical experience !!!
Left on 04/17/2012 for a stay in February 2012
The first time I stayed in this warm, homey cabin it was the rainy season and i arrived after dark... When I was awakened the next morning by a gang of Magpies taping on my glass door leading to the balcony outside, my jaw dropped to the floor. The view around me was staggering. The clouds flowing up the canyons, birds everywhere... This rates as one of the most magnificent views I have every have ever seen... The cabin is special, completely secluded... it is not like anything i have ever found to rent. You are literally at the top of a canyon that looks all the way down to the Nicoya Bay... Surrounded by the rain forrest... You are literally in the clouds.
This is another secret that I discovered the first time I stayed in the cabin. People don't realize that the wet season is not like Portland... It rains a few hours every day but not all day hour after hour... Most days I woke up to sunshine and lots of billowy clouds. It is my favorite time to be in Costa Rica and especially Monteverde.
My wife and I have stayed at this amazing cabin three times... Each time I leave feeling like I have experienced something unique, special really... It lifts the spirits... Thank you alex, Veronica and Stuart... -

This romantic jewel is hidden from the public, but just off the local main road and 2 miles from town. The large use of glass on the west wall gives you a panoramic view all the way to the Pacific. Everything you could want is included in the cabin, but if you need anything, Veronica is only a free call and 2 minutes away. Could not ask for better hosts, we felt part of their family.
