Description from the owner
Villa Les Rosiers is situated in the Perigord Noir of the Dordogne - one of the most stunning areas in France. For example, there are caves, castles (chateaux), churches, adventure parks, aqua parks, prehisto parks, canoeing, fishing, walking, biking and markets to visit - there's so much to do for all ages and all interests. It's great for children and our visitors often comment that 2 weeks is not long enough! So much so that two families returned for their 4th visits in 2011!
To quote recent guests "we had an absolutely fantastic holiday in the Perigord. Les Rosiers is a wonderful place to stay: it's a charming, ideally located and a...Read more

Arlington, MALovely, comfortable vacation home!
Left on 07/29/2012 for a stay in July 2012
What is there not to like about Les Rosiers? Our family spent a wonderful week in this lovely and fully equipped house, made more special by Judie and Steve's hospitality. The house was very comfortable and spotlessly clean. And the pool is truly spectacular! We particularly appreciated the welcoming bottle of wine that Steve and Judie left for us.
Judie is an absolute delight and was very helpful during the planning stages even before we even set foot in France. She cheerfully replied to my many queries and even offered for us to check in a bit early as we were traveling with young children. And during our stay, both Steve and Judie offered us great advice on where to eat, which caves to visit, and even where to go fishing. Unfortunately, Steve was already booked for during our stay so we will have to return another time to avail ourselves of his knowledge.
Montignac itself was a charming village--small enough to feel quaint and neighborly but large enough to have good dining options. And market day was truly a treat! We especially loved the stall with all the olives and other pickled items. You really haven't experienced France until you've gone to a good street market.
So thank you, Judie and Steve, for a wonderful stay in a lovely part of France.Response from Steve & Judie Burman - 07/30/2012

SurreyUtterly fabulous!

Steve and Judie are fantatsic hosts and Les Rosiers is a superb place to stay. Steve and Judie can take you on tours of caves - Steve being an archeology professor knows his stuff and is extremely interesting about the intricacies of pre historic life and art. The caves and the area are full of history and discovery. The castles are very special too! The whole area is timeless and allows you to stop, take a breath and look at mankind in a very different way. Steve and Judie take time to talk and help but also let you chill out. And it's a great place to relax. Steve and Judie are perfect hosts.
The villa is superb - roomy and very very clean, with the added bonus of a pool in a barn!
The villa is in a very quiet hamlet, 5 minutes walk from the Vezere river and 10 minutes drive from Montignac, where there is a great market twice a week. There's also a good supermarket - and lots of good restaurants. Duck is a local speciality and is scrumptious! Walnuts are also local produce and come in many variations - buy some walnut oil from the farm opposite the villa - it is very good.
We have visited four times and plan to return.
You must visit Lascaux II - Steve and Judie can arrange tickets - it is truly awesome. And go to Le Thot too - such an interesting place. There is so much to see and do within easy reach of the villa - and Steve and Judie can organise tickets before you arrive or help when you do arrive, which is wonderful.
Sarlat, about 30 minutes drive away is beautiful and has great shops and restaurants. Fanlac, about 10 minutes drive away is picturesque with a superb restaurant. Les Eyzies - about 25 minutes away - is stunning, with it's amazing museum, Abri Pataud and quietly tucked away is the place where cro mangon man was discovered.
Les Rosiers is a truly delightful place to stay - it captures your heart and lives in your dreams.Response from Steve & Judie Burman - 01/14/2012

NottinghamFantastic as always

This was our fourth visit to Les Rosiers and each time we were offered a unique experiance. The house is warm and welcoming, as are the owners Steve and Judie.
The house is a pretty, typically French in style, in a delightful location, and equipped with all the modern conveniences.
The location is quiet and rural, ideal for a relaxing holiday, but the nearest town is only a few minutes drive. It's suitable for either family holidays or for three couples as each bedroom is ensuite.
There are many things to do in the area, and Steve the owner can be hired as a guide (recommended).
Each time we go we find new and interesting things to do. We have always felt safe and secure here and booking the property couldn't be easier.Response from Steve & Judie Burman - 10/31/2011

Les Rosiers is a very peaceful and lovely place. The house, the garden an the swimming pool are very tidy and comfortable. Everything what we need was there. We enjoyed our holidays very much. The weather was fine and sunny. My husband Dirk has fished two perches in the Vezere which tasted very fine with the fresh herbs from the garden. My daughter Sophie (14 years)liked the swimming pool and the garden and our son Clemens (6 years) the hedgehog which visited us at the evening. Clemens also learned how to swim in deep water without waterwings! The Perigord is such a great place and two weeks are too short to see everything. Prehistory, castles, churches and a very nice nature. Last but not least a great "Thank you” for Judie and Steve. Everything was fine. Thank you for your hospitality. We come back next year.

Dear Judie and Steve,
Since our email contact we felt already welcome and when we arrived, the feeling was there too. We had a great time. The house was beautiful and everything we needed was available. How nice to have your own swimming pool! Judie gave us some tips for trips in the neighbourhood and they were very great.
Judie and Steve, thank you very very much for this wonderful vacation.
Best wishes,
Jan and Irene
