Robyn
Albany, Oregon, USAWonderful experience in Montreal
Left on 12/31/2012 for a stay in December 2012
We rented this home during the 2012 Christmas season. We found the owner to be accessable and quick to respond to calls or emails. He answered all of our questions fully, and was obviously interested in making our stay as pleasant as possible.
The home was just as shown in the photos. We have rented homes in other areas, and while none of them were what I would call "shabby", they were not decorated with any particular care, and seemed to be furnished with older or castoff items that the owners no longer wanted or needed in their own homes. Not the case here - the furniture and accessories were very nice, from bedding to dishes to artwork on the walls. It is clear that the owners are interested in making their guests' stay in Montreal as nice as possible! The beds were very comfortable, the bathrooms and kitchen well appointed, and even in December during very cold weather, the house was warm and cozy. I'm very picky about cleanliness, and I had no complaints whatsoever. Extra points for the master bathroom shower!
I was a bit concerned about the location from another review, but found that it was just fine. It is just a short walk to the metro station, and at the end of the street there is a business area that has everything that one could want for day to day living. Downtown is only 20 minutes away on the Green Line. There is a very nice park area by the river, about a 10 minute walk. It seemed like it would be a delightful area in warmer weather.
All in all, I would rent this property again. There are "trendier" areas of Montreal, I'm sure, but we really liked the neighborhood feel of Verdun, and with the Metro so close, were were able to come and go easily. The only caveat is that the basement area, where the very nice washer and dryer are located, is accessed by a short stairway with no railing. I had no problem with it, but those with balance issues may not be comfortable using it. Other than that - a stellar experience! -

Gatineau, CanadaGreat apartment!
Left on 08/26/2012 for a stay in July 2012
The apartment was perfect to accommodate our family of 5 (2 adults, children 8 and 5 years old and 1 month old) during our vacations. It was very well located, furnished and decorated. We celebrated our 5 years old daughter's birthday there and it was perfect to welcome 10 other members of our family for the occasion.
However there has been problems with the dishwasher and the Internet during our stay, but the owner quickly solved them. I guess we were unlucky and I am sure other renters won't experience those issues (now that they are dealt with!)... -

Calgary, ABGood, clean rental
Left on 10/21/2011 for a stay in October 2011
When we arrived at this apartment we were a little sketched out by the neighborhood, but when we got in the apartment we realized we had nothing to worry about.
The apartment is a good location close to the metro, but the shops & restaurants around are nothing to brag about.
There is street parking, but strange rules about when you can and can't park on certain sides of the street (due to street cleaning).
The owners were very nice. The wine cork in the room was broken and they didn't hesitate to give us their's.
The apartment was very clean and very well supplied for cooking (even with spices) and laundry.
This apartment is advertised as a two bedroom, but technically is only a one bedroom with a hide-a-bed.
Generally it was a nice place to stay.Response from Marc Stamos - 05/29/2012

Yup, the neighborhood is in transition! That said, it is a hidden gem both with regard to location and services. As well, there are indeed several top quality restaurants, albeit mixed in with some ho-hum ones. As for the 1-2 bedroom issue, this review is for a one bedroom we had for rent in the same building last summer, which is now rented for 12 months. Our former home, which is described and pictured in this listing, is 2x the size and MUCH nicer, is being rented short term this summer. It has 2 full private bedrooms, two full bathrooms, a large living room, a large dining room, and a great kitchen. Feel free to call or write me with any questions. - Marc

Left on 10/17/2011 for a stay in September 2011
My wife and I went to Montreal to spend time in the city. We rented this apartment from Marc who was very responsive to our needs. The apartment was very very clean, comfortable and well equiped. The Metro was a 2 minute walk from the apartment and very convenient. Bank, grocery store, restaurants just dowm the street. It felt like a safe area to be in. Great place for a couple to enjoy the city. I would highly recommend. Thanks Marc

Left on 10/10/2011 for a stay in October 2011
We stayed for a week. The apartment is very well maintained and in very good condition. It is generously equipped with anything you might need (kitchen utensils, washing machine, iron, kitchen roll etc). The owners were friendly and very efficient.
The location is great - the area is nice and has lots of shops and restaurants, a nearby riverside park with miles and miles of walking and a metro station 3 minutes around the corner. It's very easy to get anywhere in Montreal.
Would stay again. -

The apartment was very comfortable and clean. The bed was especially comfortable. It was a short walk to the subway in a quiet neighborhood. The manager, Marc, went above and beyond when he let us know the light was on in our car and then helped us jump the dead battery.

Nice apartment. Comfortable! Be careful getting to the bicycle trail. The Lachine Canal Trail in verdun is close and a nice place to bike. This appartment has easy access to subway (Opps, Metro)which makes getting into town a cinch (stop at Peel and have the greek salad at the Peel Pub). Botanical Gardens, Insectatarium, Olympic Stadium, and Biosphere are all accessable using the Green Line Metro.

Left on 07/27/2011 for a stay in July 2011
My family and I spent 4 days in this place. We had a great time in Montreal and this apartment was the right place to stay for us. Very very clean, close to a subway station, very well furnished. Just a few tips: Maybe not suitable for senior citizens or families with babies since entrance stairs are very steep and the apartment is in a third floor. Also the neighborhood seems a little forgotten and not well maintained nevertheless the place was safe.
Conclusion: 100% satisfaction but may not be the best choice for everyone.Response from Marc Stamos - 05/29/2012

We found the apartment beautifully decorated and very clean. It was so conveniently located near stores and restaurants as well as the Metro. The neighborhood was very quite and peaceful. It was also great to have the air conditioning unit as it was very hot during our time in Montreal. We very much enjoyed the apartment! Thank you Marc

Portsmouth, RIA Perfectly Described apartment
Left on 06/14/2011 for a stay in June 2011
When I booked this apartment for the Formula 1 Race back in December I had no idea that it would be the place that I was staying the weekend that I became engaged. It was perfect! A cleanly, well organized, well decorated, apartment in a quiet neighborhood. I loved the art pieces throughout the apartment, the lovingly stocked kitchen and the green initiative put forward to those living there.
Although, I never met Marc, the apartment was everything described and we had a wonderful time! -

Regina, SKExcellent, especially for long-term stays
Left on 11/05/2010 for a stay in October 2010
We loved staying here. This apartment is very clean and renovated, the kitchen is large and well-stocked, the laundry machines are excellent, and the proximity to the Green Metro line is wonderful. You don't even need a car (we had one anyway), since Wellington St. and a beautiful riverside park are well within walking distance.
We felt like Marc really cared about making this place like a home for us. There were plenty of clean linens, and he provided all of the cleaning products (dishwasher detergent, soap, laundry detergent, etc.) for us!
My only suggestion to Marc would be to make another key. We have two children, so another set of keys would be useful when we are separated for any length of time. Something else to be aware of: the bedroom does have a door, but the wall is not completely closed off from the living room/rest of apartment. There are cut-outs on the wall, above the doorway. These are a nice decorative feature, but obviously sound-proofing is a bit of an issue if you have kids sleeping in the living room.
All in all, we stayed here for 3 weeks, and we are so happy that we chose this place! Thanks for a wonderful Montreal experience. We highly recommend this apartment.Response from Marc Stamos - 05/29/2012

Left on 08/29/2010 for a stay in August 2010
The apartment was very comfortable, clean and in a quiet neighborhood. It's 1 1/2 blocks from the Verdun Metro stop and 1 block from a street where you can find nice restaurants and groceries. We left our car parked for three days and walked, took the Metro and biked. It was a perfect location for us to explore the city. Bike rental and great bike path was close--near the atwater Market and biking around the Lachine Channel and into the Old City. Marc is a great host who has thought of everything to make your stay pleasant. We also liked the fact that we could recycle and compost. Great for "green" travelers.

Brighton, UKPerfect for my needs
Left on 08/23/2010 for a stay in August 2010
This self-catering apartment was perfect for my needs, which were: a comfortable place, at a reasonable price, in the south-west of the island, near a Metro station, with decent stores nearby. The neighbourhood of Verdun is not central but with the Metro only two minutes walk away I could be downtown in 15 minutes. There are three decent supermarkets within a few minutes walk that will deliver if you don't have a car (if you do, on-street parking is time-restricted but free). There are also myriad stores and restaurants on the main drag at the bottom of the street, another block further is the St Lawrence and a riverside park.
The apartment is comfortable, clean and - in my experience - exceptionally well-equipped for its size and price, with a washer & dryer, dishwasher, large stove, microwave, TV and DVD, clock radio, hairdryer, coffee maker, linen and towels, etc. The bed is firm and I slept unusually well after a transatlantic flight! The only thing that wasn't perfect was the unreliable wireless connection. I didn't mind the stairs to the third floor but some people might, and you should be aware that the second bedroom is also the living room, where there is a hide-a-bed (or what the British call a put-you-up) couch. Strictly no smoking indoors but there is a balcony where you could sit out if needed.
The owner, who lives on the first (ground) floor, could not have been more friendly and helpful, and the long-term tenants were pleasant and quiet. I was delighted with the apartment and would happily have stayed a month.
Thanks, Marc! and to audree for the arrangements.Response from Marc Stamos - 05/29/2012

This travel apartment is like having your own apartment in Montreal or staying with a friend. It's a great deal if you're planning to stay in Montreal for more than 7 nights. Verdun is a quiet middle class neighbourhood close to lots of shops, restaurants, and two metro stations. On the website, they list a desktop computer as one of the amenities, but this was nowhere to be found. Luckily, I had my laptop. Also, lots of stairs...35 to be exact...not handicap accessible.

My husband, young son and I stayed at this location for a week. The location was perfect and we took advantage of the Metro several times, which was just a block away from the apartment. The ride is just minutes away from the downtown area. Lots of shops, restaurants within walking distance. The apartment is very clean, spacious and contains everything you would need during your stay. Definitely a home away from home. Thanks to Marc & his wife for making our stay such a pleasant one. We'll definitely be back!

At just 5 minutes from the Metro station, our accomodation coudn't have been better. Marc met us with a friendly smile and tips on the area. The apartment was clean and quiet and a 15 minute walk from the water's edge where you could walk for miles! We arrived without a car and by the end of our 4 days realized that we probably saw more of Montreal using the Metro than if we'd had a car. This was an excellent location with a great host we would highly reccommend this accomodation.
