      A great weekend getaway

Left on 05/13/2013 for a stay in April 2013

My boyfriend and I stayed at the fishbowl studio in april for the weekend. We had an amazing time! This was our first time renting an apartment rather than staying in a hotel and we were very pleasantly surprised. Nico met us at the apartment on Friday evening and the check-in process was a breeze. The studio was extremely clean, spacious, and comfortable. The building had a beautiful roof top deck that would have been great to hang out on if the weather was a bit warmer. It was also very centrally located, and we were able to easily walk everywhere we wanted to go including old Montreal, the university, the Latin quarter, the port, and the stadium for a hockey game. We would highly recommend this apartment! Thanks for your hospitality Nico and Milena!

Fishbowl studio - great value and excellent location

Left on 11/09/2012 for a stay in October 2012

I stayed at the Fishbowl studio for 6 days last month.
That was my first time renting a studio/apt in Montreal.
I was not disappointed at all.
My stay at the Fishbowl was a very good experience.

The studio is located in an excellent location, downtown.
It is very convenient to walk to many shops, train station, restaurants, shopping center, parks.
There is a coffee shop and convenient store on the first floor of the building.
Compared to many hotels downtown, this studio is worth considering if you are planning on visiting montreal for a short stay due to its great value and excellent location.

The studio itself is really clean.
There is a kitchen equipped with oven and microwave, refrigerator, laundry (washer & dryer) and many other amenities.
The amenities make it very convenient if you are planning to prepare food and other daily chores.
Hence, the experience staying at the studio is more like 'home away from home' rather than staying at a hotel.

Due to its downtown location, one downside is noise level.
On a couple of occasions, I can hear loud noises from outside the studio late at night.
Another minor downside for me is the bed.
I find the bed rather small and short (close to floor).

Altogether, my experience at the Fishbowl studio is excellent and I would recommend it to a friend.

Beautiful studio in heart of Montreal, steps to Metro! We never used our car the whole time we were there. Fully equipped kitchen, lovely rooftop terrace. Nico and Milenia were wonderful, so great to work with.

Beautiful studio in a very convenient location!

Left on 09/13/2012 for a stay in August 2012

There is absolutely nothing to complain about with this studio! In addition to being very aesthetically pleasing, this studio is well located with metro stations and bus access close by, making it very easy for us to find our way around Montreal for the first time!
The studio was well equipped with everything we might need, and the rooftop terrace was quite the added bonus!
For the longest time, we assumed we were the only people in the building as it was so quiet. However when we did begin to meet people in the hallways everyone was very friendly!
Our tour of the apartment was short and sweet, yet very informative. We were not left needing any additional information and Nico even suggested some activities we might enjoy (all of which we tried, and he was right!) Our hosts were also very accommadating when we required an earlier check out time to catch our flight.
Our stay in the Fishbowl Studio was thoroughly enjoyed and we will suggest it to anyone and everyone who is searching for lodging in Montreal!

Lovely Urban Getaway for an american Couple in Montreal

Left on 08/24/2012 for a stay in August 2012

My husband and I had a wonderful time at Fishbowl Studio! We spent three days and nights there. The studio is centrally located in downtown Montreal--it was a great homebase for exploring the city. We spent most of our time exploring on foot, but there were bus stations and train stations nearby, as well as Bixi bike rental stations. On the bottom floor of the building is a cafe and a convenience store. There is a grocery store a couple blocks away, and a pharmacy a little farther.

The studio was well-laid out, and provided plenty of room for the two of us. There were also very convenient amenities, such as WiFi, a washer and dryer, bath tub, and a full kitchen. We enjoyed watching some summer Olympic games on the flat panel TV. It was warm weather for most of our visit, but the studio does not have air conditioning. We managed to stay cool enough by using the ceiling fan, an additional electric fan, and by keeping the blinds closed during the day. The studio is located on the corner of the building, with a great view of the bustling city below. There is also a rooftop deck.

Nico and Milena were very friendly and accommodating hosts. They gave us helpful tips about Montreal. We felt like we were in good hands. They were also very quick to respond via email. Thanks for contributing to a great visit in Montreal!

      The Fishbowl exceeded our expectations!

Left on 08/17/2012 for a stay in August 2012

Simply put, this rental is the best decision we made for our Montreal vacation. The apartment was well-priced, not too mention that the inside is beautifully decorated, the extensive view is wonderful, and the location is ideal. We were within 5 minutes of 2 grocery stores, the Metro, and a Bixi station. (However, the apartment is so functional & welcoming that we often didn't leave it until lunch...) Also, the Cafe Depot on the first floor of the building has a mean strawberry soymilk mocha! :D

Perfect Place to Stay for a Couple!

Left on 08/11/2012 for a stay in July 2012

We recently spent four nights at Fishbowl Studio and found it to be a wonderful place to stay. So close to all the action and a Metro station right outside our door. Ten minute walk to Old Montreal, Mount Royal Park, minutes from shopping and restaurants.

The things we thought might be an issue turned out to be no problem at all. There was no parking with the rental, but just one block away was indoor parking at Uqam. When we were there it was hot, but even without a/C the ceiling fan and floor fan kept the apartment comfortable.

It's the perfect space for two people, clean and modern. The rooftop terrace was great, each night we would spend some time relaxing and watching all the events going on across the street. Even with a huge concert across the street Saturday night, we didn't find it to be annoying inside the apartment.

The best part of staying was the space was so much larger than a hotel room, we had the option to cook (but the restaurants kept us from that!) there was place to lounge and relax, so much nicer than a hotel!

Nico & Milena were a pleasure to deal with and made us feel right at home when we arrived. Nico was so nice to tell us he was only a phone call away if we needed anything!

I'm sure next time we are in Montreal we wouldn't hesitate to stay there again!

A very nice condo in a great location.

Left on 07/25/2012 for a stay in July 2012

We really enjoyed our Montreal vacation and found the Fishbowl Studio to be a very nice condo in a great location. It's only two blocks from the Sainte-Catherine Street commercial area and there are plenty of good places to eat within walking distance. It's right on the edge of the Place de arts district and just a stone's throw from the district's exciting outdoor "showcase” (Le Quartier des Spectacles). And, there's a Metro station right across the corner. Plus, there's a coffee shop and convenience store right below the unit on the building's ground floor. The unit has all the amenities you would expect or need from a studio apartment including some things not listed on its website. In addition, renters get access to the rooftop deck area, which is great for evening relaxation or for a bird's eye view of the city and events at the showcase. And, at only about $800 a week, the Fishbowl is a bargain compared to a downtown hotel room of similar size and quality. But, it's important for you to understand that the Fishbowl is a second floor condo overlooking the corner of two very busy downtown streets. It can be a noisy place and the blinds cannot fully block out the streetlights at night. For us, the noise from the passing trucks and busses could only be drowned out when the ceiling fan, floor fan, and our own white-noise machine were running throughout the night.

So, if you're looking for excitement and for a very reasonably priced, convenient rental location with lots of amenities that is smack in the middle of Montreal's vibrant downtown area and you don't think the noise will bother you, then this is the Montreal vacation rental for you. The managers are very nice and will make the reservation process simple and easy.

Ps ... the noise is the only reason I rated "Comfort” at 3 stars.

Fantastic apartment in the heart of Montreal

Left on 11/21/2011 for a stay in November 2011

The studio was beautiful, clean, bright and well-appointed. The space itself is breathtaking, with immense windows lining two entire walls. In the daytime it's bright and cheery, at night it showcases the beautiful urban light-show of downtown Montreal. The bed is very comfortable, the kitchen is fully-functional and the bathroom is clean and modern. There is also a great rooftop terrace. The location is perfect, very close to shopping on St-Catherine as well as the fantastic Museum of Contemporary art. There is also a grocery store right up the street and tons of cafés nearby. Nico and Milena were friendly, punctual and very professional.

Overall, this apartment is fantastic value and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a place in downtown Montreal. I was here for a month and was sad to leave. I will definitely stay here next time I'm in town!

      Awesome location

Left on 08/15/2011 for a stay in May 2011

This is a lovely little suite in a great location. It's within walking distance of Old Montreal, downtown theatres and shopping, great restaurants and more. The plaza outside the suite at Place des arts had events on every night. Fishbowl is an appropriate name for the expansive windows and views from this suite. The one location downside is the number of street people that seem to congregate nearby. Although they were never a bother, their nightlife activities made it difficult to leave windows open. The unit is in great shape, but could use a few more pieces of furniture and an upgrade on those that are there. The owners are lovely people. Very accommodating and good to deal with.

The apartment was very spacious and clean with all the mod cons you need.
Really appreciated the washer and dryer as we had been traveling around for 3 weeks so it was a real bonus.

Melina and Nico were very welcoming and helpful.

      Fishbowl was great!

Left on 05/09/2011 for a stay in May 2011

I travel a lot, and visit Montreal several times a year for business and leisure. I've stayed at several hotels around the city, and while nice, tend to be very hustle and bustle with businessmen or tourists. I decide this trip I wanted to get a feel for the real city of Montreal, so I came to Tripadvisor to find a vacation rental.

The "Fishbowl" was in my budget and located right where I wanted to be in the city. Let me just say, the pictures are accurate! The apartment is spectacular! Hardwood floors, tile in the bathroom, full kitchen. And I love the decor, right up my alley... modern, quirky, sheik. They had the place was very clean and well kept.

Nico & Milena were amazing hosts! They gave me pointers about Montreal, and took the time to chat and to get to know me. They were attentive and wiling to work with my needs
      for my stay.

One word of caution, and I don't consider this a negative, just an FYI if you've never lived in a busy city. Early mornings can be a bit loud with traffic during weekdays. The apartment is on the corner of two busy streets... it's not NYC loud, but you do get street noise with the occasional car horn. For me not a deal breaker, and tolerable.

I am definitely looking at staying at the "Fishbowl" whenever I return to Montreal.

Superb place to stay downtown with very helpful hosts!

Left on 02/01/2011 for a stay in January 2011

We stayed at the Fishbowl from July 2010-Jan 2011 and had a fantastic time. The studio is big enough to be comfortable for two people to live in over the short term. Physically, the space is exactly as advertised, with a great view and clean, modern and tasteful furniture. With the brand new air-exchanger the temperature is easy to regulate, water pressure is excellent and Milena and Nico provide you with everything you need (except food, of course) to stay comfortably in Montreal (inclufing umbrellas and a washer-dryer!). Also the location cannot be beat - you're literally in front of the Place des arts metro station and in the middle of downtown. You also can see what's going on in the Cartier Des Spectacles through the huge wall-to-wall windows.

Even though there were a couple of technical glitches during our stay (eg: the microwave stopped working right before christmas), Nico and Milena always fixed the problems with as soon as humanly possible (we had a new microwave the next day!). Check-in was painless and checkout was
smooth. Milena and Nico are a true pleasure.

We highly reccomned this rental. It is an excellent choice of a place to stay, whether for a short visit of for a longer (couple months) stay. My husband and I are from Montreal and needed a furnished apt for 5 months. We chose the Fishbowl because it was by far the best place in it's price range and looked to be the most comfortable and convenient. It lived up to it's reviews and surpassed our every expectation.

Thank you Milena and Nico for everything! You are superb hosts and we'll be sending all of our friends your way and will be sure to stay there again if we have the chance!

      Gorgeous and immaculate apartment.

Left on 08/06/2010 for a stay in July 2010

We stayed at the lovely Fishbowl Studio during Jazz Fest. Extremely well fitted out, very comfortable, lovely decor and great roof-top patio.

The reservation, check-in and check out were easy, honest and friendly. Everything about the place is as described.

The remarkable, central location is both a blessing and (at least for us) a curse. We were visiting Montreal to see one of the "inside" jazz shows, not for the outdoor free events.(been there, done that for years). Had the latter been the case, being able to walk right outside into the festival zone, and then very safely return "home" regardless of our condition or the hour, would be a tremendous asset. As it was, though, we didn't really want all that noise rocking our place from 4pm until the last outdoor concert just after midnight.

So, it's hard to give a "star" rating, cause it really depends on what you are looking for. If you want to be in the center of the summer festival action, in a stylish and immaculate studio, I can recommend Fishbowl very highly. If you want a great location close to the Metro, Chinatown and Place des Arts in the fall/winter off-season, I recommend highly. But if you want a quiet beautiful place in the summer season, you'll get beautiful, but definitely not quiet. That's the only caveat.
