Hopewell, NJUrban sleek in a great location!

Great Location! We parked our car and walked everywhere. McGill. Old Montreal. Notre Dame. Prince arthur Street. The Museum.
The loft is very clean and decorated in a modern urban feel. It was well appointed and the kitchen is great to have a coffee and breakfast and even prepare a dinner.
The Landlord was readily avaialbe by text, email or cell phone but we did not have any issues. We did not disturb him and he did not disturb us. Just right.
I would recommend this loft to anyone.

Seven of us rented this loft for a week for a school conference. We could not have asked for a better experience. The loft is spacious, cool, and very comfortable. The kitchen is fully equipped which allowed us to save a lot of money by cooking for ourselves (the grocery store is a 5 minute walk away). The location is perfect, in the middle of downtown, directly across the street from a beautiful church. Also, you are two blocks from Chinatown and a 10 minute walk to Old Montreal! The building is very safe and secure, with multiple security cameras and can only be accessed with electronic key cards. Marc andre was a great host and answered all of our questions promptly! Would not hesitate to rent from him again.

If you want a great central accomodation, next door to old Montreal and Place d'Arts and the rest of the city, with superior living space amenities of lots of light, comfy beds, kitchen and washer/dryer, and a personable host in Marc andre, this is the place to stay. Excellent value, excellent holiday.

Left on 02/02/2011 for a stay in January 2011
I stayed here on a trip to Montreal in January 2011 while meeting up with friends from college. We had been searching online for accommodation that would suit the three of us, and, in the interest of affordability, were prepared to forfeit some conveniences and creature comforts in order to adhere to our budget. However...when I came across this gem of a place, I literally could not believe that we could afford a place like this for the same amount that we would have spent to share a room in a low-end motel or in an overcrowded youth hostel. I emailed the property manager right away and promptly received an email back regarding the availability and rate. I was pleased with the feedback from the other reviewers, so I made no hesitation in booking the loft.
The ad falls short of explaining how wonderful the loft really is! Upon arrival in Montreal I had no trouble whatsoever in finding the building, and it took me less than 7 minutes to walk there from the Central Train Station. The building is gorgeous and it is also right around the corner from a Metro stop, which made it very easy to travel all over the city with very little effort. The apartment is only a few blocks from the Old Town, so nice fresh bread and excellent coffee is only a few minutes' walk away each morning! Even though the loft was right in the middle of downtown, I was so surpised at how quiet it was! We didn't hear any noise from any of the other neighboring apartments in the building the entire 4 days we were there! The building is also very secure and walking around the area felt very safe.
The apartment was the perfect size for the three of us, as there are three main sleeping areas (one by the main window downstairs, one tucked into an alcove off the kitchen, and one on the balcony upstairs, which overlooks the entire apartment). The ad says that it sleeps 10, so for a larger group you would utilize the pull-out sofa and an additional mattress. The beds were very very comfortable, and, admittedly, we all overslept well into the afternoon on one occasion!
We stayed in Montreal in the middle of winter and expected to be a bit on the "chilled" side, but it was toasty warm inside the loft, even given that it was a large open space. There were additional radiators on the wall which could be regulated by a control panel on the wall. The bathroom had a wonderful bathtub which was fun to soak in after a long day of walking around in the snow! All of the appliances in the apartment are top-of-the-line, and very user-friendly. The washing machine and dryer operate very quietly and are tucked away in a closet (which we were very grateful for not having to leave the apartment to do laundry!). The huge flat screen TV was very nice to have, but one tip: Bring some Dvd's from home with you! If you're like us, you won't understand the cable TV programming, as most of it is in French.
The property manager, Marc andre, was very hospitable and easy to communicate with. He checked up on us via text message throughout our stay, just to make sure everything was fine...which it was :)
my advice for renting this apartment:
1. Bring plenty of snacks with you...there is an I.G.A. three blocks away, but there did not seem to be any convenience stores in the immediate area.
2. If you have small children, you should consider how easily they may/may not be able to navigate up and down the balcony, as the spiral staircase is open-design and might take some child-proofing.
3. Bring Dvd's with you for the big screen!
4. The design of the loft is open-plan, so noise travels easily (luckily, I wasn't staying with anyone who snores!)...however, there are floor screens to block off the sleeping areas for a bit of privacy.
5. Just so you know, there will be a security deposit and a cleaning fee required in order to make the booking. I was a bit hesitant, as I never had to do this before for other accommodations, but I can understand the reasoning, as this apartment is usually rented out for long-term stays. Marc andre said after we departed, the refund of the security deposit would take 3 to 5 days to post to my account...it was there in less than 2 days!!! So, very pleased about that.
Bottom line, if you're going to be staying in Montreal for a short break or even long-term, this is an excellent location to make your base. It will exceed your expectations and truly make your trip extra-special! I can't wait to stay here again! -

Warwickshire, UKA superb loft in a perfect location
Left on 01/05/2011 for a stay in October 2010
My wife and I stayed here with our one year old daughter in October 2010. In summary, the loft was ideal. There was more than enough space for the three of us and every facility available to us. The loft is ideally situated to visit anywhere in Montreal, being five min. walk from a Metro station, 10 to Downtown, 20 to Chinatown, 30 to the Old Port. In more detail, Marc-Andre (owner) is a very decent gentleman who ensured our stay would be perfect, from the moment we met. We were able to contact him day or night - we didn't need to. The loft is accessible via two small flights of steps from street level, which we managed easily with a stroller, although wheelchair users might struggle. The loft is one-up from ground on a surprisingly quiet street in an area which is popular for this type of property. We found this apartment to have every facility and appliance we would need, from bottle opener to tumble dryer! Plenty of space in the kitchen to cook the most complicated meals if you're inclined. All appliances were of a high standard, clean and quiet. The huge windows in the loft kept it bright and airy, while air-con ensured a comfortable temperature. We enjoyed relaxing on the large leather sofa in the lounge area, while watching the flat-screen TV. The bathroom was spacious and provided storage sufficient for our needs, a bath and powerful shower with plenty of hot water. A powerful extractor fan coped admirably with the steam! We found the queen-sized bed to be comfortable and well provided with linen. All in all, we couldn't fault the apartment - and we consider ourselves to be very particular. Our daughter loved the space, the bath and the big TV. My wife and I loved the location, the cleanliness, the facilities and falling asleep to the muffled sounds of the city just around the corner. We loved the apartment and Montreal. Marc-Andre is a very decent man who ensured that our stay would be the best. We heartily recommend you spend your vacation here.

OttawaExcellent value in great location
Left on 11/30/2010 for a stay in November 2010
We stayed at this loft with our two small children (1 year and 2.5 years) and found it to be great value for a small family and in a very central location, with walking distance to Old Montreal and a couple of blocks from the downtown core shopping area. The loft itself is very new, with high ceilings, a very open central area and large windows that offer a lot of light. Although the place offers 4 sleeping areas, keep in mind that it is all open concept so might not be ideal for larger groups but was fine for our family as we were able to cordon off a couple of sections for the kids with movable screens that the owner has wisely provided. The place is generally very soundproof as well. Main negative is parking as you either have to go with nearby day lots or deal with metered street parking but this would likely be the case with most apartment rentals in this city. Owner was very responsive and easy to deal with. Overall would highly recommend this for a small family, couple or even business traveller looking for a bit more space than your typical hotel room.
