Home away from Home!
This is a fantastic apartment that I lived in for 5 months during my working stay in Montreal. The owner is so easy to work with and very helpful for all questions. I paid rent and deposits with Paypal, which was also exceptionally convenient. The apartment is fully functional with every amenity you would need to live and cook happily.
The location is quiet and easily accessible. While a little north of the downtown, it is about a 6 minute walk to the Metro station (Jarry or 10 min walk to De Castleneau) and takes about 20-25 min to get downtown. Also, there is the St.Laurent Bus (55) that will take you downtown with ease and is only 2 blocks away.
The decor is nicely done and it feels like home right away. I have lived in many places, as I travel for my job and this felt like I was able to make it my own.
It is on the 2nd floor of a duplex and it would be best for 1 or 2 adults, as it is not a huge place. It does have a full size apartment washer and dryer, microwave and full size fridge and stove. There is wireless internet included but if you were going to stay for a long time, you would need to get your own cable agreement and phone arrangements.
I was very happy here and would completely recommend to stay here. Isabelle gives you a map of where local amenities are and is perfectly, the owner is perfectly bilingual, so no worries if you don't speak French!
I hope you have a great stay at this cozy little apartment in the heart of a great city!!

Thank you Shannon, it was a pleasure meeting you and having you around. Happy home baking!
Great location and beautiful apartment!
We stayed in this apartment for New Years Eve this past winter and were extremely pleased with everything. Isabelle is a extremely accommodating and welcoming. She keeps the apartment immaculate and provides ammenities such as toiletries and coffee for our use. The apartment itself is full of charm and character. It is very spacious inside with comfortable furniture and a full kitchen with laundry. The only issue we had was the bed was not as comfortable as we would like but that is all personal preference. As we were staying in the winter, during a huge snowstorm, we were often confined to the apartment. This was not a problem as there was a tv, DVD player, movies, books and games to play.
The place is located in a great neighbourhood with many nearby restaurants and stores that are locally owned. While it is a younger neighbourhood we did notice a lot of families and beautiful parks nearby which was nice. We loved how close we were to the metro system and got some of the best sushi ever just down the road.
I would definitely recommend staying in this beautiful apartment. We were so pleased with everything and will definitely be staying here again next time we are in the Montreal area.
Wonderful apartment, host, neighborhood, city
This was the perfect spot for a four-day getaway to Montreal. The apartment is lovely, and Isabelle is a fabulous host: she had a map ready with nearby restaurants, cafes, and shops, and took extra time to offer suggestions on the area and city. Wonderful neighborhood as well, with a family/hipster vibe, easy access to downtown and rest of the city via metro, great market and restaurants nearby, 10-minute walk to Little Italy, and heavenly coffee at Cafe Vito just a block away. And all this in a great city. Can't wait to go back!

This is a home not a cute apartment.
My husband and I were fortunate enough to stay at this charming apartment for two months (January-March 2012)and it was the best choice we could have made.
The apartment was spotless and fully equipped with all necessities and many luxuries, like sugar, coffee, tea, and everything we needed to make a smooth and stress less transition, there was even a gift of Montreal bagels to welcome us. Before arriving Isabelle took the time to answer all our questions via email although it was the busy Christmas season, and the day we arrived she met us and showed us around the apartment and pointed out the area, as well as leaving us a thorough written list of things we may need. There were more than enough towels and extra pillows as well as bed linen change. A nice welcome touch was the detergent, and soap in the bathroom, as well as the terry robe left there to welcome you.
Although this is not in the heart of downtown Montreal, it is only a 15 minute metro ride to downtown, and once back at the apartment you will be grateful for the peace and quiet. There are many convenience shops around the apartment and the famous Jean Tallon market is a short walk away from the place. This is a market full of all fresh goods and a few nifty eateries. Although we did not have a car during our stay there is parking.
I have stayed in several hotels in downtown Montreal and although they were all centrally located, Casgrain offers much more comfort and value for money.
If we are ever in Montreal again, we would definitely stay at Casgrain and no other place. Isabelle and Jean Phillip are true and genuine hosts who make you feel at home with friends close by, to offer support, answer questions, give guidance and just say hello.
Thank you for having us as guests at your beautiful home.

Why stay anywhere else?
This apartment is as charming as it looks in the pictures. It's warm and cozy with lots of character and a well equipped kitchen and a balcony that overlooks an alley that's right out of the movie "Rear Window.”
The neighborhood is a treat. Every street is filled with brownstone-type houses mingled with bistros and restaurants and boutiques. We had more fun exploring the nearby neighborhoods than we did visiting the usual tourist sites. The Jean-Talon Market is the best fruit markets you'll find anywhere and it's within easy walking distance. The surrounding neighborhoods have an ethnic flair with middle-eastern and Haitian influences.
The Berri Metro Station is around the corner from the apartment. It's easy to hop the subway and head for old Montreal or any of the other tourist sites. The Montreal Metro is relatively cheap and efficient. If you drive, parking in the neighborhood is easy and convenient - you can park on the street in front of the apartment.
Why stay in an over-priced hotel when you can live like a Montreal native and experience the local culture? Isabelle is better than any concierge. She'll give you tips and advice about the best places to eat, drink and have fun. This is a life experience you won't soon forget.

Thank you so much Paul and Jane for this very nice review! Just a small correction needed: the nearby metro station is Jarry. I am looking forward to welcoming you in the winter for yet a whole lot more of interesting experiences! Cheers
A wonderful vacation that exceeded our expectations.
A nice quiet location not far from great restaurants and entertainments. Place was clean and had all the amenities needed.
Isabelle was great in providing us with some excellent recommendations about what to see and where to eat. Overall, she was very hospitable and I would definitely recommend her property to future travelers.
