      Wonderful apartment, host, neighborhood, city

Left on 06/28/2012 for a stay in June 2012

This was the perfect spot for a four-day getaway to Montreal. The apartment is lovely, and Isabelle is a fabulous host: she had a map ready with nearby restaurants, cafes, and shops, and took extra time to offer suggestions on the area and city. Wonderful neighborhood as well, with a family/hipster vibe, easy access to downtown and rest of the city via metro, great market and restaurants nearby, 10-minute walk to Little Italy, and heavenly coffee at Cafe Vito just a block away. And all this in a great city. Can't wait to go back!

      Excellent!!

Left on 06/02/2012 for a stay in May 2012

      Great location, comfortable apartment

Left on 04/22/2012 for a stay in March 2012

We stayed here for a week of sightseeing and tourist-ing before heading to another city. The apartment is on the top floor of a two-storey home. It is cozy, comfortable, clean, and incredibly well-stocked. Isabelle has thought of everything from maps to kitchen equipment, and just in case you need something more, she's available for help.

The apartment is under 10 minutes' walk from the Metro, which is inexpensive and easy way to get around Montreal. The neighbourhood is quiet and safe, and we had the pleasure of enjoying several nearby restaurants for lunch and dinner.

For those who are sensitive to noise, just be aware that the apartment is in a house, so like most homes, sound can travel. We are heavy sleepers, and didn't find our stay to be impacted by this in any way.

Isabelle, the owner, is a wonderful person, and great to work with. She was very accommodating of our late check-in and gave us invaluable advice of places to see and things to do.

This is a home not a cute apartment.

Left on 03/10/2012 for a stay in January 2012

My husband and I were fortunate enough to stay at this charming apartment for two months (January-March 2012)and it was the best choice we could have made.

The apartment was spotless and fully equipped with all necessities and many luxuries, like sugar, coffee, tea, and everything we needed to make a smooth and stress less transition, there was even a gift of Montreal bagels to welcome us. Before arriving Isabelle took the time to answer all our questions via email although it was the busy Christmas season, and the day we arrived she met us and showed us around the apartment and pointed out the area, as well as leaving us a thorough written list of things we may need. There were more than enough towels and extra pillows as well as bed linen change. A nice welcome touch was the detergent, and soap in the bathroom, as well as the terry robe left there to welcome you.

Although this is not in the heart of downtown Montreal, it is only a 15 minute metro ride to downtown, and once back at the apartment you will be grateful for the peace and quiet. There are many convenience shops around the apartment and the famous Jean Tallon market is a short walk away from the place. This is a market full of all fresh goods and a few nifty eateries. Although we did not have a car during our stay there is parking.

I have stayed in several hotels in downtown Montreal and although they were all centrally located, Casgrain offers much more comfort and value for money.
If we are ever in Montreal again, we would definitely stay at Casgrain and no other place. Isabelle and Jean Phillip are true and genuine hosts who make you feel at home with friends close by, to offer support, answer questions, give guidance and just say hello.

Thank you for having us as guests at your beautiful home.

      Why stay anywhere else?

Left on 10/30/2011 for a stay in October 2011

This apartment is as charming as it looks in the pictures. It's warm and cozy with lots of character and a well equipped kitchen and a balcony that overlooks an alley that's right out of the movie "Rear Window.”
The neighborhood is a treat. Every street is filled with brownstone-type houses mingled with bistros and restaurants and boutiques. We had more fun exploring the nearby neighborhoods than we did visiting the usual tourist sites. The Jean-Talon Market is the best fruit markets you'll find anywhere and it's within easy walking distance. The surrounding neighborhoods have an ethnic flair with middle-eastern and Haitian influences.
The Berri Metro Station is around the corner from the apartment. It's easy to hop the subway and head for old Montreal or any of the other tourist sites. The Montreal Metro is relatively cheap and efficient. If you drive, parking in the neighborhood is easy and convenient - you can park on the street in front of the apartment.
Why stay in an over-priced hotel when you can live like a Montreal native and experience the local culture? Isabelle is better than any concierge. She'll give you tips and advice about the best places to eat, drink and have fun. This is a life experience you won't soon forget.
