Additional Location Information
The Plateau is a traditional neighbourhood which is defined by its multicultural and bilingual character.(One can hear English and French combined everywhere.)
Considered the Soho of Montreal for its partly Bohemian character, its small clothing, art and design shops (without forgetting the famous Bagels and Montreal smoked meat), it attracts many young people (between 25 and 45).
It has a large concentration of bars and restaurants (many of them since the beginning). There are also a large number of concert venues and theatres.
The most well known streets are St. Denis, St. Laurent and Mont Royal.

Norwich UKsuperlative apartment in culturally lively area
Left on 04/21/2013 for a stay in April 2013
We loved the spaciousness and comfort of this tastefully decorated apartment. It was well-equipped with a large fridge and the most comfortable beds we slept in ever outside our home. The location was ideal for us, with lots of cafes, diverse food outlets and shops everywhere. Bruno and Livia were very welcoming and let us stay on for our evening flight. What a pleasant time we had and, yes, we would[will] return! Karin, Simon, Ellie and anna

Left on 08/28/2012 for a stay in August 2012
Bruno and Livia are hospitable and helpful but not at all intrusive. The apartment has rooms which are elegant and spacious. The kitchen is large and has space to eat in, but there is also a dining room. Beds are very comfortable and the furnishings are both aesthetically pleasing and functional. The outdoor deck and yard add even more space to relax. The neighborhood is full of good restaurants, Bixi bicycles abound, and Mount Royal is a short run or walk away. Drawn and Quarterly bookstore (211 Bernard Ouest) is fantastic.

Cheshire, EnglandAn outstanding apartment in a great area - with very helpful hos
Left on 08/25/2012 for a stay in July 2012
This was an excellent choice for a short - or even long - stay in Montreal.
The apartment was quite beautiful and superbly equipped. It has been recently renovated in a most intelligent and thoughtful manner, and provided accommodation much more spacious than is evident from the outside.
Not only was there a well-equipped kitchen, but there was also a large separate dining room. There are two bedrooms, one of which can be subdivided for extra privacy. The living room is equipped with a sound system and good quality TV set-up. Although we did not use it, I believe that there is a sofa bed in the living room, and so the apartment could sleep six in comfort. There is a delightful private garden, with shady seating.
Beds and bedding were very high quality, and, despite record-breaking heat, we slept well, helped by a portable air conditioner supplied by the owners.
The owners live nearby, and were very willing to help with advice and directions.
The location was extremely convenient for transport to the city centre, but it had many attractions of its own. There were so many good restaurants, delis and cafes nearby that we were not able to try more than a small proportion. There was cuisine from just about every corner of the world within easy walking distance, including a 24-hour bagel shop and an outstanding Italian deli.
Wifi worked well, and there was no extra charge for it.
Two welcome and uncommon amenities were a very good coffee maker, and the provision of a small stock of good quality wine. Both were provided at little more than cost, as far as we could tell, and were greatly enjoyed
The only misunderstanding was that we did not read the small print, and did not bring quite enough Canadian cash with us! However, with the co-operation of the owner, we found a way round that.
In summary, an outstanding, charming and most welcoming apartment to which we hope to return.
Our advice would be:
Read the rental agreement more carefully than we did
Take advice from the owner about where to park: Montreal's parking regulations are incomprehensible to outsiders.
Allow enough time to explore the area itself
If you go to town by bus, take the exact money in cash
Book a day or two more than you think you will need! -
