Additional Location Information

The Plateau Mont-Royal is one the prettiest neighbohoods in Montreal. Filled with local shops and cafes, narrow tree-lined streets and early 1900's buildings, this area of the city is not to be missed. The neighborhood is located, basically, between du Parc avenue on the west side, Sherbrooke St on the south, de Lorimier Avenue on the east side and rue des Carrières up north. To get to this area by metro, exit at either Laurier, Mont-Royal or Sherbrooke stations. Several buses serve this area, check out for more information on the public transit system.

St-Denis St area, between Laurier St and Sherbrooke St, is one of the most important shopping spots in Montreal. But not the mega mall kind of experience. More like old books and CDs, vintage clothing and funky home accessories are among the most popular items. You will also find among those stores a multitude of coffee shops, micro-breweries, underground theatres and restaurants. Suits all tastes!

Another well-known street of the Plateau Mont-Royal is Avenue du Mont-Royal. Starting at St-Laurent Boulevard, stroll up to de Lorimier Avenue, towards east. You'll pass by tens and tens of local vintage clothing shops, hip restaurants and bars.
St-Laurent boulevard is one of the other main streets of the neighborhood. Located west, the main interest is between Bernard St and Duluth St. You will find plenty of fashion clothing and furniture, as well as trendy bars and restaurants.

Finally, for a more local feeling, stroll on Laurier Avenue, starting at St-Laurent Blvd and ending at Papineau Avenue. There are, once again, plenty of coffee shops and restaurants, as well as more upscale boutiques.

Whatever you decide to do, make sure to pay a visit to one of the oldest neighborhoods of the city, and certainly of the most picturesque. It really pays off to get to see more local people and unique places.
