We liked Might as Well. Property was clean and cozy and in a great location for walking into "downtown Montreat". Only suggestion is that the living room is a little dark and could use more overhead light. Also, you can only get at&T; at the house (not Verizon). Overall, a good place to stay while in Montreat!

Raleigh, NCLike staying in your very own comfortably furnished treehouse!

My family and I have rented this home for several years. When it has been unavailable we have rented other homes through Greybeard but always return to this house. Grandmother has a room of her own which makes her happy. The master bedroom with a king size bed is very comfortable for our youngest family couple and child. The huge porch is where we enjoy spending lots of family time swinging on the porch swing, visiting and napping. The short walk to Lake Susan is the final great selling point. The only improvement I would make is more lighting in the dinning area.

Very good value for the propery; however, after someone from your staff had obviously been there to deliver linens, etc. There was 2 large branches in the front walkway, which I had to go get my chainsaw and haul-off. We also needed a delayed check-out time, as we were traveling and would not be returning until after 2 a.m. Saturday night. Your service said to call a day ahead if this accommodation was requested; however, you don't have that option on your voicemail. There is also insufficient lighting in using the front entrance--one member of our party fell. The administrative part of the rental was also disconcerting: I spoke with numerous people in the office, none of which seemed to know why I was there. I waited in the lobby for over 10 minutes with no acknowledgment, and received no-reply from 2 emails. Also, I asked for someone to contact me to discuss looking for an upscale, smaller rental in which I will be hosting an extensive high-end clientele frequently--no response, or seeming intrerest.
Not a venting session, just constructive criticism since you asked. I know I look for the same in my company.Response from Greybeard Rentals - 12/16/2010

We appreciate constructive criticism. Specific driving directions to this home are to a door that is well lit and more easily navigated. Had the limb in the front driveway been noticed, or a call made to our office when it was found, we would have gladly had it removed. We provide on-call services 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Great effort is made, also, to meet our walk-in customers here at Greybeard's office. We apologize there was a brief wait. As you noticed, our staff was on the phone when you arrived and quickly finished up with the customer so she could help you. We thought we had left a message with you asking for specific dates but didn't hear back from you. We are sorry there was a breakdown in communication. This is very usual.

Washington, DCMontreat is fantastic

We loved our vacation in Montreat; the community is amazing for families-
-the hiking, park, lake were amazing ammenities. The houses are so cute
and the community is charming.
The house layout worked perfectly for our family (3 families--6 kids total)
and we thought it was clean and nice.
We really liked working with Greybeard--everyone we talked with was so
friendly and helpful.
Our only complaint was that even though it was broom/wipe clean, it was
definitely moldy/dusty. Not dust on tables or anything, but the couches
blew out dust, the dishrags, cutting boards, and a few pots were moldy. We
were all sneezing a lot and think that the house is probably due for a deep
clean.
We would definitely return to montreat, use greybeard, and consider using
the same house if its dust issues were corrected. Thanks for a wonderful
stay and service. -

the house was clean upon our arrival, and there was even a fresh loaf of pumpkin bread waiting for us in the kitchen, courtesy of a local bakery. the home was spacious and comfortable. an added upstairs room with many windows has the feel of an enclosed tree house, as does the wonderful front porch, part of which is covered allowing for outside time even in rainy weather. the location is perfect for walking to and from conference center activities if you enjoy the excercise provided by a small hill. two years in a row we've shared the porch space with a persistent fat squirrel, who has been known to employ crafty methods of obtaining kitchen countertop food. just leave kitchen windows closed to avoid this nuisance
