I loved this house and the town of Montreat. We were in town for a family wedding and I shared this house with my extended family. There was plenty of room and privacy so that everyone was comfortable. The house is nicely appointed and very clean. I definitely plan to return!! Thanks!!

We had a group of 44 people staying at several different houses in Montreat. We used Sloopy as the hang out spot and gather place for all of us to eat meals. It worked so well. The kitchen is well equipped and spacious. Ping Pong and Foosball were big hits in the basement. It was a wonderful week!!

Great house for large groups and families. It has all the extras we enjoy including the internet! Good location and can be walked if desired. The pourch outside was a good gathering place for us and our youth. We will bring extra chairs next year for the outside.

Louisville, KyDream house tucked away in the mountains!
Left on 06/28/2012 for a stay in June 2012
Our main criteria was have 14 people comfortably housed for one week. This house was over and above that. The main areas (kitchen, dining and family room) were spacious enough for all us to gather in at the same time. This summer was our third stay and we look forward to many more. Our group was here for a conference but we all agree that being able to stay in Sloopy Hollow made our week better than we could ever imagine! Thanks to the owners for providing a special (and beautiful)place for our group to bond with each other and thanks to Greybeard for making the stay easy!

Hernando, MSAnother Spiritual Week in Montreat
Left on 06/13/2012 for a stay in June 2012
The home is beautiful and very accommodtaing for the size group we had. Loved having the second fridge- we had 2 houses but had all meals together in Sloopy Hollow and we cooked for 26. The only negative issue that we had - we kept tripping breakers while we cooked. We could not use 2 griddles at the same time or the breaker for the fridge would trip. We lost lights one afternoon when no cooking was happening. They just flikered and went out in the dining room and the living room downstairs. That was a little frustrating. Overall it was a fantastic week, we had plenty of space and Hot water! Thanks

Thank you for your feedback...we are so glad that you enjoyed your time there at Sloopy Hollow. It is a great home. However, since the house is only meant for 14 people, it is understandable that the breakers would trip when you tried to cook for 26 people. I do not think you would have had any problems if you were just cooking for 14 people and we do try to limit the occupancy to an amount acceptable for the house. Thanks for the feedback though. The house was great for our large group. We had 3 different families that didn't really know each other. Everyone had their own bedroom and bath. The porch was great for morning coffee and evening cocktails. The young adult group really enjoyed the game room and ping pong table. The kitchen was large enough for all of the cooks to be in there at the same time. Everyone was very impressed with the house and its layout. We all had a wonderful time.

Chapel Hill, NCGreat House!
Left on 01/12/2012 for a stay in January 2012
The house was a wonderful place for our college group to stay for college conference and subsequent leadership team planning. We really like that it had two refrigerators and a garage for storage. I would recommend adding a second stove, but overall it was wonderful. Loved the open floorplan on the first floor. Upstairs/ 3rd level is a little dated as compared to basement and main levels, but no big complaints on usability and comfort. I would recommend bringing your own pillows. Kitchen is well stocked with all you need.

Columbia, SCPerfect home base for my son's wedding!
Left on 09/29/2011 for a stay in September 2011
My son recently got married at Lake Eden in Black Mountain and I stayed at Sloopy for five days and it was my "home base." I'm a single Mom so my college friends (and one of their husbands) joined me to help with final wedding preparations and for moral support. Sloopy was the perfect house for six women to spread out to accomplish last minute wedding activities, store all of our clothes (and the shoes!). The layout of the house was perfect, kitchen was well-equiped, and the porch was wonderful. The gate into the yard needs a litte Wd-40 but otherwise, Sloopy is perfect!!
And, as always, the folks at Greybeard took great care of me. I've rented probably seven or eight houses from them over the years and I'll continue to come back! Hopefully, some day, they can help me find and purchase a retirement home. -

FlorenceA Wonderful Vacation
Left on 08/06/2010 for a stay in July 2010
The location of Sloopy Hpollow is an ideal place for a vacation with (Grand)children. If you want to hang out and relax, or if you want acrivity or places to go, then this the place. The house is comfortable and the kitchen is well-equipped. There is plenty of room so you can retreat to your own private space. The porch is a geat place to read a book or to enjoy your morning coffee. We are going back next year.

Duluth, GASloopy Hollow Rocks!
Left on 06/25/2009 for a stay in June 2009
This was my second stay in Sloopy Hollow, this time with the high school guys from Pleasant Hill Presbyterian Church in Duluth, where I'm serving as associate pastor for Youth and Mission & Outreach. I previously stayed at Sloopy Hollow in January 2008 with the college students from Colesville Presbyterian in Silver Spring, MD where I used to serve as associate pastor.
This is a terrific house, spacious with a nice home feeling, great deck and kitchen space. We enjoyed our stay.
Thank you,
Andy Acton
