Situated in the best possible location on the Swiss Riviera at the border of Montreux & Clarens, 150 meters/yards from the Jazz Festival, Stravinski Auditorium, Miles Davis Hall, Park Vernex & the Conference Center, this light and bright apartment, on the 4th floor of a turn-of-the-century building with elevator, and with an onsite parking space, has beautiful panoramic views of Lake Geneva & the mountains from its large French doors & expansive balcony. There are spectacular sunsets year round. The Swiss Riviera is noted for its unique microclimate that allows for palm trees, ban...ana trees, tropical vegetation & year-round flowers with a backdrop of snow-capped mountains. It’s world-famous for the Montreux Jazz Festival which takes place the first half of July, music festivals & Christmas Market.

The apartment itself has high ceilings & is very bright and airy. It is beautifully furnished & outfitted with everything needed for a pleasant stay of any length including high speed wi-fi, cable tv with 50+ channels in several languages including 3 English channels, & CD player.

The bedroom area has just been upgraded with a brand new queen-size bed with a convenient shelf headboard, new nightstands, 2 reading lamps, and top-of-the-line very comfortable memory foam mattress. From bed, there is a view out the French doors to the mountains and lake. For additional guests, there is a sofa that with cushions removed is a single bed or which can be folded open to be a king-size bed. There is also a chair that folds out into another single bed. And, there is a rollaway folding single bed with a very good mattress. So, the apartment can sleep up to 6 people but reminder that it doesn't have a separate bedroom so it works best for a couple plus children and not ideal for 6 singles.

The bathroom has a large deep tub and a great shower with unlimited hot water. There is a hallway with a coat and hat rack and an armoire outfitted with various drawers and shelves as well as space to hang clothes. There is an iron and ironing board and a hairdryer, multi-plugs to charge electronic devices, and a hotel combination safe.

The kitchen, although compact, is a full kitchen with 4-burner gas range and oven, refrigerator with a small freezer, microwave, and various small appliances including American and European coffeemakers, electric kettle & toaster. There are brand new pots and pans and more than ample dishes and bowls, serving pieces, stainless, placemats, coasters, etc.

A vacuum cleaner and cleaning supplies are in the apartment for your use during your stay, or if you prefer, maid service can be arranged during your stay for an additional fee. Bed linens, bath towels, kitchen towels, laundry detergent, soaps, shampoo, conditioner are provided. There is there is a shared laundry room in the building.

o Mountain View : Panoramic views of the dramatic mountains across the lake and the towns of Le Bouveret, St. Gingolph, Evian-les-Bains, Thonon-les-Bains. First light on the mountain tops is spectacular as are sunsets and moonsets and fireworks on holidays over the lake as viewed from the apartment and balcony.

Additional Location Information

Situated on the Rue du Lac, restaurants, shops & the “Promenade Fleuri,” the flower-lined lakeside promenade, are only steps away. It is as close as you can get to the Montreux Jazz Festival a 2-minute walk. The 'Vernex-Jazz Festival' bus stop is 100 steps away & is THE bus stop for the Jazz Festival with Stravinsky Auditorium, Miles Davis Hall, Park Vernex & the Conference Center about 150 meters/yards away. There are boat stops a few hundred yards away in either direction in Montreux & Clarens from which you can take historic “Belle Epoque” lake steamers to various charming ports in both Switzerland & France.

A stay here comes with a bonus of Montreux Riviera Cards that entitle you to unlimited free local bus, train & funicular transport & half-price for some tourist trains & funiculars to the mountains, boats, museums & castles in the area including the famous Chateau de Chillon,..

Visit the famous Chateau de Chillon, go wine-tasting in the Lavaux, or make day trips to the mountains for sightseeing in Gruyeres, skiing in Gstaad or Verbier or ballooning in Chateaux d’Oex. Cruise Lake Geneva on historic turn-of-the-century lake steamers & visit charming Swiss lakeside villages or visit St. Gingolph or the charming Medieval village of Yvoire on the French side of the lake. In the summer, sailboats, rowboats or paddleboats can be rented. There are several free public beaches in Montreux & Clarens for swimming, ping-pong, volleyball, etc. Children will enjoy the Aquaparc waterpark in Le Bouveret. Children of any age will enjoy the historic carousel lakeside in Vevey & the miniature train that runs along the “Promenade Fleuri” in Montreux in the summer.

The Chateau de Chillon is right in Montreux in a dramatic setting on the lake. A stunning way to arrive is by lake steamer. If you haven’t seen the movie “Daisy Miller” set at the turn-of-the-century in Vevey & Montreux, it’s worth renting to preview the beautiful “Belle Epoque” buildings, lake steamers, & the Chateau de Chillon, which are still much as they were at the turn-of-the-century & why this movie was filmed on location. This apartment is in one of those beautiful “Belle Epoque” buildings with high ceilings & ornate balconies. Vevey & Montreux were home to Charlie Chaplin. Vladimir Nabokov, Hemmingway. Lord Byron's “The Prisoner of Chillon” made the castle a tourist attraction starting in 1816 & you can see his name carved in one of the stone pillars in the dungeon.

Among my favorite museums to visit in the area are the Maison Visinand & the Museum of Old Montreux in the Vielle Ville (old-town) Montreux, the Museum of Games in La Tour-de-Peilz, the Jenisch Art Museum, Photo Museum, History Museum, Wine Museum & Alimentarium (a museum about food in the home of Nestle) in Vevey, the Musee de l’Art Brut (Jean Dubuffet’s museum of “outsider art”), Hermitage and Olympic Museums in Lausanne, & the Fondation Gianadda with its antique car collection, outdoor sculpture park, Roman amphitheatre & world-class art exhibitions in Martigny. There are wonderful art galleries, festivals & fairs for art & antiques in the area. There is a weekly farmer’s market in Montreux on Friday mornings & in Vevey on Saturday mornings.

  Location, location, location! Just steps from the lake, bus stop, train station, boat landings, shops and restaurants, this incredible apartment has incredible views of Lake Geneva and the mountains. On the 4th floor (really the 5th floor), the building has an elevator and laundry room and private parking space. Well-equipped, with kitchen and full bathroom and a great closet, it was safe and comfortable for 3 single women. This is the bargain of the century for Montreux!
