Enjoy game drives in an open 4 x 4 vehicle with one of Nyaru's game rangers who will bring you close to sightings of rhino, giraffe, zebra and numerous antelope species such as bontebok, red hartebeest, kudu, impala, nyala, waterbuck and many more. The safari is lead by an experienced guide, who will share inside-story facts about your surroundings - easily rousing your inner wild side. Game drives will take 1 ½ hours depending on how much time is spent at each sighting.
Saddle up for a horseback safari and escape to the valleys and beautiful fynbos and experience nature like never before. Ride next to giraffe or zebra across plains, track rhino and blue wildebeest and watch the wildlife in action! A horseback safari day tour is the less conventional safari option. Nyaru Game Lodge offers an early morning horseback safari day tour or late afternoon.A slow walk across the plains or cantering at full throttle is at the guest’s discretion. No experience is necessary for the Nyaru horseback safari day tour. Enjoy a picnic in beautiful open grasslands and relax amongst our Wildlife with a variety of snacks and sparkling wine. Guests will be taken on 4 x 4 vehicle, dropped off and collected again from picnic spot. The emphasis on this experience is to relax and enjoy the scenery. This experience can also be combined with all game viewing activities to get the most out of your African Experience! Explore the breathtaking wonders of the Garden Route as you enjoy a helicopter flip. Taking a scenic tour over Mossel Bay and the region is a wonderful way to look at nature, go whale watching and to see the dolphins and other marine life along the coast. Great white sharks are also spotted during scenic tours.
Our thatched chalet accommodation is right in the middle of the reserve, where romantic ostrich egg lamps and candles create that real bush camp atmosphere. Private patios with mountain or pool views are featured in all chalets. Each chalet is decorated with rich fabrics and follows a African flavour that is clean, simple and elegant with attention to detail. All chalets are serviced daily. Traditional South African barbecue facilities are available in all chalets.
