Cambridge, MAFun relaxing time!
Left on 07/30/2012 for a stay in June 2012
I have been dealing with Preffered Renatls for years and when I called with questions regarding a few different houses I was looking at and they reccomended this location for my vacation, I was not dissappointed. Great home in a beautiful location, stayed here with my family which included 3 kids and they enjoyed the fun time we had. Great swimming and all around relaxing vacation. House was more than accomodating, although it could use a little more in the kitchen supplies, measuring cups, spoons, and sharp knives were missing, other than that a wondeful time was had by all!!! Would stay at location again and again.

Bedford, NHGreat Lake, house could use a little TLC and updating, good valu
Left on 07/27/2012 for a stay in July 2012
We have rented for many years at this location primarily because the lake, private shorefront and dock are fantastic. Let me start my review with the challenges. Only 1 fan for the entire house (we bring 2 extra). One steak knife and very dull carving knife, no measuring cups...of course they could be somewhere in the kitchen. Unfortunately the cupboards haven't been de-cluttered in the many years we have rented. The carpet is very stained, worn and needs replacing. The bathrooms could use a good scrubbing around the toilets, very dark grout. The washer / dryer is great to have on vacation, however, too much moisture in the basement is promoting mold to grow on the washing machine agitator and clothes have a small odor after washing. Dvd player will only play brand new Dvd's...brought Dvd's from home and they wouldn't play, even rented from RedBox with minor scratches and that wouldn't play. Now for the good parts; great location, fantastic lake, great sandy shallow waterfront, great dock. The views every day are amazing from the deck/house and there is plenty of shade during the hot July months. Plenty of parking for trailer, extra cars etc... The leather couches are very comfortable. Great location in the lakes region, close to Meredith and Laconia. Not sure we will be renting at this location again, will look for other places on Kanasatka.

Boston, MaBeautiful Lake Home But Could Have Cleaner
Left on 08/17/2011 for a stay in July 2011
We found this lake house to be pretty spacious and nicely organized. The location was great being right on the water. However, the floors were quite dirty considering we pay for the cleaning service. I realise this is not the owners fault but should be addressed by the Realtor. There was a huge ant problem (hence the dirty floors) in the kitchen and when we left items in the corner of the kitchen, ants invaded and attacked anything left out. Plastic wrap & foil weren't enough to discourage them. They were brutal. This is a huge infestation and should be addressed. Having a washer & dryer was great and we utilized them. We arrived on a 90 deg. day and the house was very hot and only had one large fan. Bring your own. Luckily we brought 2. They have sky lights that do not open which was a huge disadvantage during the heat wave. Would have been nice to be able to open them. Overall there are a few cleanliness issues that need to be addressed but other than that we will definitely rent again.

12TH YEAR RENTING IN AREA
new jerseyAwesome swimming area, great kayaking lake, great location
Left on 08/17/2011 for a stay in August 2011
we rented this house two years ago too, the house is good, looks bigger than it is since the second floor is only half the size of the first due to living room sky light at 2nd story level. kitchen could use better pans and knives. we loved jumping off the dock, sandy bottom with very little sea weed and water drops off quickly from 4 feet at the dock end. kids built sand castles in small sand area by shore. close to supermarket and key pick up. quiet lake with few boats is great for kayaking. Will rent it again.

westbrook, ct.relaxing onthe lake.
Left on 09/01/2010 for a stay in August 2010
our stay in august of 2010 was a good one we just missed the weather. it was the only cold rainy week of the summer. the views from the house are nice of red hill and it is a good hike just make sure you take the fire tower road. the lake is clean and is nise to swim in. it is not as busy as the larger lakes so this makes for some better quiite time. make sure to bring some good knifes their not so good there. that was the only draw back, i would rent this property again.

Seekonk,MAComfortable house on quiet lake
Left on 08/18/2010 for a stay in August 2010
This is the first time we've stayed on a lake smaller than Winnipesaukee and we enjoyed the quietness of it - no constant drone of speedboats. The beach area was great for our grandson who is only 14 months old. The house was very comfortable, with decent furniture (unlike other places we've rented). Our only complaint was that the kitchen was not well supplied with cooking implements. We shared one steak/paring knife all week, there were no measuring cups, etc. A minor complaint really, I would definitely rent this house again. :)

Franklin, MANot our best vacation.
Left on 08/04/2010 for a stay in July 2010
We booked this house based on the pictures that were on the website. We looked at them as late as the day before we arrived and they still showed a nice beach for the kids to play on, but the pictures weren't updated. The beach was covered in wood chips. My children, ages 4 and 7, were very disappointed. The trees blocked the sun from the water's edge, so it was too cold most days to go in the water due to the massive winds( 4 out of 7 days). The house itself was okay except for the bedroom on the main level. The bed was rock hard and the musty smell was overwhelming. My husband and I took turns sleeping on the couch and a twin bed. We checked the website on the Sunday after we returned home and the pictures are now updated. Also, there still seems to be a bat problem. We only had 1 fly at us, but it was enough. Overall, it wasn't that bad, just really disappointing.

MassachusettsBat House
Left on 06/18/2009 for a stay in July 2004
It was a large 3 bedroom dusty house. It had all the amenities Cable TV/VCR, washer/dryer, gas grill, outside deck and a beautiful private beach. It had a nice backyard with a gradual decline into the water perfect for kids. It was close to all the NH sites. Unfortunately, midweek after returning from a day at Storyland we found a bat flying around in the living room. We had two small children and it freaked us all out. We frantically captured the bat and released him outside. We believe there were bats in the attic. You can hear them if you go to the left side of the house if you are in the back yard. We contacted the rental agency and they came over the next day and said there were not bats. We wanted to move to another rental property but they said there were none available. It ruined our vacation and my kids still talk about it today. We now own our own vacation home in NH. Sorry.

Manager
Thank you for your review... Yes, the owner did invest in bat exclusion a few years ago... We have not had problems since. Sincerely, Mark Borrin, General Manager, Preferred Vacation Rentals, Inc.
