Ten minutes to Sawyer's Market, 4 minutes to Echo Lake, 18 minutes to Shaw's Gallery in Northeast Harbor, 24 minutes to Reel Pizza, and 25 minutes to Jordan Pond House. Right in the middle of Mount Desert Island is this "Paradise" which redefines spacious with fine marble, granite, and tile craftsmanship alongside the deep waters of Somes Sound. Boaters can have two moorings. Come watch porpoises and eagles from your own cathedral-ceilinged living room. Entertain in style and... grace.
Layout: Walk in to the entryway featuring mosaic tiles of waves and porpoises. Coat and utility closets with automatic lights are in this entryway. Straight ahead is one door to a huge laundry room with more closet nooks, washer, dryer, utility sink and linen storage. This room also has a door in to the kitchen. Back through the entryway, leave your shoes there and look outward to gasp at the wonder of the ocean and the mountains. Down a hallway to the right is a bathroom with shower and beautiful sink; and the first queen bedroom. The living room is expansive and luxurious with seating for many on couches and chairs and a chaise lounge. All muted blues and greens, the house's tasteful interior is designed to complement nature and blends perfectly with the world outside. The stone fireplace features fancy metalwork by a Maine artist. Living room leads to dining room, leading to kitchen and den. The dining area has a large table with extra leaves and chairs to seat up to 14 people. A comfy window bench at the end of the table offers a chance to linger after dessert. The lights and mirrors of the bar area help expand the warmth of this room.
"Paradise's" kitchen is a chef's delight! Room to spread out the feast or watch the creation at her island. Gorgeous hand-tailored frosted glass cabinets, stainless steel appliances, more generous windows to see the eagles, and you have the perfect makings of a blessed repast.
Entertaining is ideal in this set up. The oven has a plate warming drawer. The gas grill is located almost invisibly just outside the kitchen exit, steps from the refrigerator. Off of the kitchen is a large den that has hidden sliding doors, a 68" television in an armoire chest, a wraparound sofa and a Jotul gas stove.
On the second floor up a gorgeous flight of open stairs is the master bedroom. She sports a large air jet tub, king sized bed, wall-mounted television, bathroom with inlaid stone work and his and hers sinks, a large shower and a separate toilet room. Ample walk-in closet in the bedroom. Windows on the ocean and lots of room for spreading out and lounging. Down the hall is the second queen bedroom as well as a bathroom with a shower.
Outside is a delicious deck with furniture, parking for plenty, a rocky beach, dock and float with access to 2 deepwater moorings. The water at low tide at the dock is about 50 feet.
This property is on the ocean and children should be accompanied by an adult at all times.
