It doesn't get much better than your own retreat on Long Pond, a favorite pond on Mount Desert Island for canoeing, swimming, fishing and listening to the resident loons.

This brand new shingle-style home sits right on the shore and offers lovely views of the quiet side of the pond. Complete with its own dock on the pond, wrap around deck with seating, upstairs deck overlooking the water, and modern amenities, Camp Pine Cove is an excellent choice for your vacation. Along with the serene water views, the cottage features wood and tile floors, granite counter tops, gentle interior colors and a warm welcoming feel. Camp Pine Cove sports a... fully equipped modern kitchen with new appliances and a gas fireplace in the living room.

On the first floor is a bedroom with a queen, a full bathroom with a tub and shower, the open living room and dining/kitchen area and the patio doors to the wrap-around decks. Upstairs are two more bedrooms: the pond-side master bedroom with a queen and a balcony overlooking the pond, and another large bedroom with twins. A full shared full bathroom with a gorgeous tiled walk0in shower is on this floor, as well.

Long Pond is centrally located on Mount Desert island, an easy drive to Southwest Harbor, Northeast, and Bar Harbor. Pets are not allowed at Camp Pine Cove. Parking for two cars only.Read more

  ...but lacking in a few areas. The home is well appointed and brand new, beautifully furnished & clean. The owners supplied a small row boat and a few life jackets...however, If you have accommodations for 6, you should have amenities for all 6 as well. Another boat ~ canoe, kayak ~ would make a lot of sense. As it was, some were always left out of the adventures onto the lake.
  
  Also, I realize this is a brand new house, but I found it funny that guests who pay over $2500 for a week of stay would be asked to water the lawn & plants. If this was a house trade and/or there was a significant discount it would be understandable, but I feel full pay guests should not be asked to take care of the maintenance.
  
  As for the listed amenities ~ I'd be hard pressed to agree that there is Wifi service. The only Wifi service was intermittent & was only available if you stood in a particular place next to the kitchen counter.
  
  The real estate company managing the property I found to be a bit unprofessional. There was plenty of pressure to get in the deposit for the property, but it took me several emails before I received follow up on the status of the lease. Evidently the owner was out of town & unavailable to sign, but the rental service never bothered to follow up with me to let me know this. Two weeks later, when the contract was finally signed, I also had to prod them to have a bilateral contract sent to me. In addition, it's now been 8 days since we vacated the property. I have not received my security deposit back, nor have I received any correspondence from the real estate company on the status of my deposit refund despite sending an email 5 days ago.
  
  My friends from Europe who stayed here were overall very comfortable & pleased with the accommodations ~ they (fortunately) were shielded from dealing with the lease.
  
  Yes, I would recommend Camp Pine Cove, but be prepared to stay on top of the leasing procedure...and I'd suggest checking to be sure the listed amenities truly exist. The lack of Wifi for a traveling businessman was a huge inconvenience.
