The Summit House is four bedrooms and five baths, one of a few private homes in Mount Nebo State Park seven miles west of Dardanelle, Arkansas. This 4,400' lodge-like-house is perched on the mountain's edge, 1700 feet above the Arkansas River Valley. It offers 60-mile views of the valley and Ozark Mountain Ranges. Great price for what you get. There is a walmart at the bottom of the hill to visit a for food. Beautiful and the view even more so. The photos don't do this beautiful little corner of the mountain it's due. From the coffee grinder, to the grill, to the bedding, to the boardgames/horse shoes, to the thick and luxurious towels it is... more spacious than you expect, and there is plenty of room for your group to spread out or gather round the table for a meal, without it being cramped. It was a very spacious and accommodating kitchen, more than enough cabinet space and stocked with the essential appliances and utensils. Fireplace, charcoal grill, and fire pit...I was at these more than I slept. Absolutely fundamental to the experience for me. Being ON the trail around the Sunset/Sunrise Points loop was also wonderful
The views from the porch and the picture windows are spectacular! The cabin is well-supplied with everything one could need from cooking utensils to hand soap. The cabin is well-supplied with dvds, books, games, and blankets. The cabin would also be suitable for young children
You walk in to an extremely homey kitchen, fully stocked with pots/pans/coffee/and dishes. The bedrooms are quaint and welcoming. The beds are comfortable. The living room has plenty of seating and around every corner is something you weren't expecting. The back porch is the highlight. It is a beautiful view at the top of the mountain and completely screene in so no pesky bugs are bothering you. There are games, movies, blankets, towels, washer and dryer, and so many other amenities. There is a television but I never turn it on. There are so many things to do there that you never should stay indoors for too long.
Four charming bedrooms each have their own entrance onto a 62-foot deck overlooking the valley. The master suite is 20' x 27' -- with a canopy bed, a two-person jacuzzi, double vanities, and a shower. With the addition of 4 day beds, 3 trundles and 3 futons, 2 hide a beds the home can sleep up to 25 persons. There are five bathrooms.
Newly renovated, fully furnished kitchen includes all cooking utensils, two refrigerators. We added in 2009 in the living room a 52" HD Flat screen 1080p TV with Blueray DVD on Direct TV satellite, is also in the master suite. All linens sheets and towels are provided.
The 60' x 20' great room features porcelain tile flooring, a native stone fireplace. The kitchen is newly redone with counter tops, back splash and appliances. The 38' x 19' living room has a cathedral ceiling. The 20' x 24' game room offers a sofa bed, couch, bar, refrigerator, table and chairs, games and pool table. And the covered porch off the dining room has a gas grill. All these great home features make this an ideal location for family reunions, weddings, receptions, corporate retreats, church retreats, and club or social retreats. Church retreats and weddings are always renting this house for their getaways.
The owner and acclaimed watercolor artist, Cynthia Schanink, teaches watercolor workshops at this house. The mountain's scenery and views are an artist's dream, and will be yours too. For only $200 with supplies book a day to paint with Cynthia when you book this house for your group. You will each have a comlpeted original painting souvenier of your trip.
Enjoy the State Park amenities which include a swimming pool with a small fee, free tennis courts, basketball courts, ball fields, a kid's playground, and 14 miles of hiking trails with geo cache sites. Activities include mountain biking, rock climbing, horseshoes, and hang gliding (if you have a glider and a class 3 rating).
Mount Nebo was rated in the top ten resorts in the country in the early 1900's, and was known as "The Resort Above The Clouds"; after all the springs are fountains of youth
Enjoy golf on John Daly's home course at the foot of the mountain. Also Gala Golf course and Chamberlyne Country Club in Danville 15 miles south on hwy 27, or visit any of the seven courses in Hot Springs Village -- 60 miles south on Hwy 7, which was voted one of the top ten scenic highways in the US.
Branson, Mo. is approximately 120 miles north on Hwy 7, which is an excellent day trip. The 34,000-acre Lake Dardanelle is at the foot of the mountain, and hosts bass tournaments annually with excellent fishing.
Temperatures on the mountain are five to ten degrees cooler than in the valley; and we enjoy a pleasant breeze which makes this a great oasis in the summer months. Mt. Nebo has temperature inversions in the winter months and can be warmer than the valley.Read more

The grand Summit House is on one acre in the Mt Nebo State Park with a Large asphalt parking area in front of the door. Enjoy the view any time of day or take a hike on may of the state park trails. Three play grouds for children to play in free and the water slide pool is only $4 per day for adults. Tennis and basket ball courts are free also, just bring your racket and ball. Follow I-40 to Hwy 7 South through Russellville to Dardanelle, turn right on Hwy 22 for 3/10ths mile. Turn left on Hwy 155, go 7 miles to the top of Mt. Nebo, go right at the T, toward the visitors center, the Summit House is beside the visitors center. For GPS users enter Mt Nebo State Park for location.
My job is very high stress. So my wife and I wanted a weekend retreat. We wanted to stay in state but not at a resort. We had friends that referred us to the Summit House on Mount Nebo, overlooking Dardenelle arkansas. We found our stay to be quiet, and very relaxing. Everyone we encountered on Nebo, both resident as well as other guests, were friendly in kind. The Summit House was clean and well stocked with everything we needed We found it to be just as advertised. Not only will we return, but we highly recommend our friends and others to stay at the Summit House.
