Plymouth, DevonA cosy, comfortable retreat In a corner of Pembrokshire, ideal f
Left on 04/18/2013 for a stay in April 2013
We arrived a little hesitant owing to the unusually freezing temperatures at Easter. The owner, Josey, had very kindly allowed us to travel up the day before our rental was due to start to allow us to avoid the bank holiday traffic with our Old English Sheepdogs, Yogi aNd Coconut. We arrived very late to a lovely cosy though fairly large farmhouse, all heated up for us!! This was just the start of a wonderful week. The nearby beaches and scenery were wonderful, and the kitchen large enough to have some lovely family meals together, as my daughter and grand daughter had come with us. The local Tescos was only ten minutes which meant we could stock up for the week as the farmhouse has a large freezer. There is also a really useful utility room with a washing machine and ample room to dry clothes, so next time I won't need to overpack as I always do!! The outside space was perfect for Yogi and Coconut who ran themselves silly every day, it was also very relaxing to sit in the conservatory watching them and relaxing with book and a cup of tea. We have never been to this part of Wales before and think it absolutely lovely, the people are also very friendly and Yogi and Coconut are now in lots of holiday photos!
This is an idyllic place to holiday if you are looking to get away from it all and de stress. Josey was very helpful and quick to answer any queries we had and made the whole booking process very easy. We have already booked for September, and may well return sooner if we can !! We feel very lucky to have found somewhere so lovely, and very reasonably priced. Thankyou, Josey.Response from Miss J Wade - 04/19/2013

Hi Jacky,
Thank you for such a great review and it's so good that you and your family (including Coconut and Yogi of course) had such a brilliant time. Ann I think contacted you to thank you for leaving Hafod Villa, so beautifully tidy and hair free - no mean feat with 2 Old English Sheepdogs!
Anyway we hope that you are looking forward to your week at the cottage at the end of September and it's always easier when you return to a place and know what to expect. There are lots of new places that you are looking forward to exploring I am sure.
Best Wishes and Many Thanks,
Josy (and Ann of course) -

CoventryNy in a remote cottage
Left on 01/17/2013 for a stay in December 2012
From the start to finish, our trip to the cottage was a pleasure. Josy, the owner, was honest, accommodating and even offered to let us delay our stay by a day as one of our party was ill the day we were supposed to arrive.
The cottage is very remote, which for us was perfect. Miles of rolling countryside and just a short walk to the coast made for some beautiful scenery. The villa is attached to a larger building, but they are totally individually accessed. Inside it is a cosy, pleasant place with a nice wood burner in the living room and joining on to a large kitchen diner. The rooms have everything you need, and were comfortable.
We had an amazing NY week in the cottage, I would definitely return and recommend to my friends.
Cheers Josy!

Hi Brett,
Happy New Year to you all! Ann and I are so pleased that you had such a good New Year in Hafod Villa. Your initial concerns that you may be too noisy for the neighbours - with only a few sheep or cows to worry about I don't think that was a problem after all. It seems you thoroughly enjoyed our beautiful scenery too. Hopefully we shall see you again in the not too distant future as each season has it's own secrets and delights.
Best Wishes,

A superb find. The cottage is in a stunning location and has everything you could want. A huge eat in kitchen and a lovely wood burning stove in the sitting room. There was plenty of hot water and a useful boot room / conservatory that was useful for the dogs and childrens wellies. I would imagine the garden is lovely in the summer too and a great place to relax. The owner is extremely nice band very accommodating I am hoping to book Haford Grove next for my 40th Birthday.

Hi Nicolak, Mark and Family,
Thank you for this lovely review and Ann and I are so pleased that you had such a good time especially as this was rather a last minute booking. Hopefully you will have the chance to enjoy the garden in the summer at a later stage. Hopefully we shall see you in Hafod Grove House for your birthday celebration.

Two humans and three Golden Retrievers had a lovely relaxing stay at Hafod Villa. The weather forecast was terrible, each evening we listened and thought tomorrow we will just batton down the hatches and relax with a good book in front of the cosy log burner. As it turned out all the rotten weather was overnight, with lots of day time sun and breeze along the coast to enjoy our days walking on Poppit and Newport Beaches as well as exploring the coast line and a little inland. Disappointing no seal pups to be found.
Our first stay in a holiday cottage and from this experience will definitely do again. I've just read (again) the first three previous reviews and can only write I agree with all that was said and feel no need to rewrite in my own words. Laziness on my part and also down to time restraints as normal life takes over from the peace and tranquility that was Moylegrove, Ceibwyr Bay and Hafod Villa.

Newport, ShropshireA Little Peace of Heaven !
Left on 08/02/2012 for a stay in July 2012
We recently stayed at Hafod Villa for a week with our three dogs in tow. Although the weather was a little mixed, the charming place, peaceful suroundings and lovely comfortable accommodation more than made up for it. The house was spotlessly clean and exactly as described. A huge kitchen which was a delight to be in, every possible thing you could need in cutlery and china, a chest freezer too which was great to be able to stock up on foods to last through the week. We were greeted by the lady from next door who looks after the property and treated to one of her delicious home made cakes, a warm welcome of the very best. There are huge lawned areas for the dogs to enjoy and its perfectly safe for them to run free. Children would also enjoy playing in the garden too.
The roads to reach the property are very narrow and need careful naviagtion but you will soon get used to them. There are many places of interest nearby, one in particular we enjoyed was the Hill Fort. Aberporth has a lovely little beach, and the town of Cardigan is great to mooch around and do food shopping. All is all we had a very enjoyable time and would recommend the property to others who want a secluded break in the countryside, but are not too far from both the sea and towns. Mobile phone signals are a bit patchy, as was the internet but there is life without a computer !!! We are looking forward to staying there again in the not too distant future.Response from Miss J Wade - 08/02/2012

Peterboroughwonderful relaxing holiday - Great for Dogs
Left on 07/17/2012 for a stay in May 2012
This is a lovely clean spacious cottage, with a large dog friendly garden that our two dogs adored; with walks from the doorstep and dog friendly beaches a short drive away. Loved the cosy sitting room and the large bright kitchen/diner. The sun room was a real bonus, great for sitting in and excellent for wet doggies! It was very peaceful. Although my two sons (aged 21 and 19)were a bit disappointed with the internet (kept dropping out or running very, very slowly and you couldn't do anything about it because the main internet box is situated in the house next door). Because of this I wouldn't recommend it as a holiday for people who feel that they can't survive without the internet for a week! Having said that, my two boys say they would go again. In total there were six adults in our party, aged between 81 (mother-in-law) and 18 and everyone of them enjoyed
their holiday. Would definately go againResponse from Miss J Wade - 07/20/2012

Left on 06/16/2012 for a stay in June 2012
This was our second visit to Hafod Villa with our three dogs, we arrived in the rain but that didn't stop the dogs racing around the huge garden as soon as they arrived. The conservatory is great for muddy and sandy paws, lino'd floor, perfect, can just be mopped clean. The rest of the house was as we remembered, large kitchen and dining room and useful utility room for all the doggy stuff.Comfy sitting room, and the four poster bed is a real treat. The local beaches are a short drive, dog friendly all year and masses of room for walking the dogs. Ours loved it. Lots of dog friendly pubs too, so definately ticks the boxes if you are looking for a location that is truly dog friendly.

PenninesA clean, cosy and inviting cottage.
Left on 05/24/2012 for a stay in May 2012
Our only concern when renting Hafod Villa was that it was attached to another property (Hafod Grove) but despite this it still felt very private and secluded, having wooden fencing, trees and shrubs dividing the properties. The garden was a joy as we took our 3 dogs with us, and we were happy to see that other dog owners who had used the cottage had kept the garden clean.
Having been to several other dog-friendly cottages in Pembrokeshire we found this to be the best maintained inside and out.
Most of our days were spent out in the beautiful countryside and our evenings by the warm fire. There's lots of information at the cottage about days out and also the owner sends out a comprehensive information sheet at booking.
Josy (the cottage owner) is really approachable and helpful as was Mrs Evans whom we only met briefly.
I would certainly recommend a stay here.

Lovely peaceful location, plenty of space, certainly dog friendly.
There's a fantastic little bay nearby and plenty of places to walk to in the area.
There's nothing too fancy about the house in terms of decoration, so it's just right if you want a fuss-free place to take the family where you won't need to worry about.
We'd certainly recommend it.Response from Miss J Wade - 01/24/2012

Our family (plus dog) stayed at Hafod Villa this august and had a great week. The house is more spacious than we expected, and was clean and comfortable. The surroundings are stunning, with beautiful walks in all directions. Ann at the farm was very supportive and helpful, suggesting days out and places to visit. The enormous garden was another plus point! We all loved this gorgeous part of Wales and can't wait to return.

We have just returned from a relaxing week at Hafod Villa with our three English Pointers. The huge garden was fabulous for them to run around in, and the conservatory perfect for making sure paws were clean before going inside. Great spacious house, and the four poster bed a real treat. Massive beaches ten minutes away, and both dog friendly all year. We all loved it.

Left on 12/13/2010 for a stay in October 2010
As we have 2 dogs we were trying to find a place with a big enough garden close to some sandy beaches.Hafod Villa is a cosy getaway from it all.You will need to have a car as the local shop are either Cardigan (big tescos) or a small spar shop in Newport. However anne who manages the place lives just down on the farm and was there if we needed anything.
The house is an old house but comfortably furnished and we liked nothing more than the woodburning fire after a long walk on the beach.
The kitchen is well furnished and I loved the 4 poster bed!
There are plenty of beaches nearby one is only a mile away but this is mostly shingle. We drove to Newport or Poppitt Sands which was massive beach.
We felt really relaxed at the end of our stay and will be going back again next year! -

A nice cottage, surrounded by farmland. Barely a car passes the road,so very safe. and in a beautiful part of the UK.
This cottage is spacious, comfy, and has a lovely large garden, great for dogs and children to run around in.
There are so many lovely places to visit in this part of Wales. Nice beaches, old churches, beautiful scenery, and good walks for the doggie owners among us.
I would recommend for couples, families and dog owners alike. -

We hire Hafod house and cottage for a week every June. Our extended family of brothers, sisters, aunts, uncles and cousins all come along and we range in age from toddlers to pensioners (not that the 60 plus team regards themselves as such!). The house is perfect for our needs as it has plenty of indoor and out door space, comfortable bedrooms and plenty of bathrooms. We have such happy memories of 'our Wales house' and the week is never long enough to do, see and say everything we want to. We always leave planning, and looking forward to, the next visit.
