Idyllically located down a meandering tree-lined drive, and just off a road built right in the middle of the thousands of acres of a privately-owned working bamboo plantation, is a hidden delight, the Hacienda Xixim (pronounced "Shesheem", meaning "seashell" in Mayan). Hacienda Xixim is about one hour south of Merida, in the jungle almost halfway between Muna and Opichen. The drive from the Merida airport to Hacienda Xixim is about 45 min. There are many excursions available and day trips all within less than an hours drive. Visit Uxmal, Labnah, Sayil, Oxkintok. If you like colonial churches and colorful villages, a visit early in the morning the market in the the nearby village of Muna will allow for great pictures.
