Kitchener, Ontario, CanadaGreat home away from home! Rustic but modern, too...
Left on 10/04/2012 for a stay in September 2012
We spent 3 nights in the cabins and found them to be extraordinarily clean and modern. Lovely dishes, good quality utensils...everything was done with the feeling of "this is your home". We had the unfortunate experience of rain for the weekend that we were there, but the cabins were cozy and the property immaculate. Would love to come back someday and try out the kayaks and the bikes! Great job!
A little issue with the internet, but hey, we were on vacation...business can wait! -

TorontoPerfect Family Getaway!
Left on 09/13/2012 for a stay in August 2012
Our hosts Lisa and Dean were very welcoming and helpful to us from before we arrived to the minute we left their fine hospitality also made for a very pleasant environment in which to stay.
The cottage and all amenities are modern, clean, comfortable, and maintained in top condition.
This location is also an ideal place for young families as it is very child friendly (we travelled with a toddler and a 5 year old, both who could step out of our cabin and walk to the playground always within our sight).
Ocean acres truly become our 'home away from home' and we are sorry we did not stay longer.
This was our first time in PEI but will certainly not be the last!

Left on 09/05/2012 for a stay in August 2012
what great hosts Lisa and Dean were. The cottages were complete with all amenities, wonderful setting on the river. We all got together with the other cottage tenants and had some laughs around the fire pit in the evening. You couldn't have asked for more.
Great location, fantastic hosts, wonderful cottages...
They had a great play area for the kids, I will take our grandson back one day, heated pool, hiking trails and workout room if you are so inclined. -

Toronto, CanadaGreat hosts and nice area for outdoor activity
Left on 09/02/2012 for a stay in August 2012
The cottages are clean and well appointed. Facilities include weight room, laundry, and play structure for young kids Great location - close to confederation trail for biking; right on the Murray river which you can take out to the ocean in the kayaks included with the cottage rental and last but not least a nice clean pool which our kids enjoyed tremendously. Great location for family with young kids or kids in early teenage years.
Property owners were very helpful with recommendations regarding places to eat; characteristics of the various beaches in the area and local wineries.
My husband even had the opportunity to go searching for oysters with owner Dean who barbecued and shared them with us...delicious!!! -

Cole Harbour, NSThe perfect getaway!
Left on 08/30/2012 for a stay in August 2012
Our family spent three nights at Ocean acres and our only regret was that we weren't able to stay longer! Lisa, Dean, and Matthew have a little piece of heaven that they graciously share with everyone.
The grounds are immaculate as are all the amenities. Our cottage was perfect, our two little boys were able to keep themselves busy both inside and out! The yard was perfect for kicking the soccer ball or having a game of catch. The kayaks were a first time experience, and one the boys quickly took to.
Our days consisted of a morning on the river, a dip in the pool, afternoon adventures off the grounds, returning to another dip in the pool, a nice home cooked meal - and the perfect ending to the day - a fire and star gazing. The perfect getaway - peaceful, relaxing, and family oriented. Thank you Lisa, Dean and Matthew! -

Left on 08/12/2012 for a stay in August 2012
While the cottages were clean, and located beside a pool and playground, the amenities weren't as promised. The internet didn't work for the first three days of our vacation and the hot water wouldn't work on day 4. We told the owner, who told us the hot water tank was very small and we should shower in the tiny shower stalls by the pool. We checked out early and stayed at a hotel the duration of our time in PEI. We wouldn't recommend this for a family.

The cottages offer a cosy and up to date atmosphere. All cottages look out to the Murray river and you can watch wild life on the river at breakfast or dinner. If you wish to get closer to the wild life you can use the kayaks F/C. You can paddle out to the ocean or stop on one of the island and pick your favorite sea shells. After jump in there inground ''heated'' pool. If you don't want to miss on your personal workout you can train in there fully equipped gym. With the wi-fi and satelite T.V. your are set for a rainy day or a late night on the couch. The cottages even have a ''Bbq'' so you can grill your favorite steaks...ummm. Finally and Not the least, the owners are very nice and very helpfull!! Thanks to Dean and Lisa!!

Left on 09/03/2011 for a stay in August 2011
Thank you for everything! This was truly the best place we have stayed in for the two weeks we travelled thrrough out Nova Scotia and PEI. The cottage was great! Very clean and the furniture and appliances all new. The bed was the most confortable bed I have ever sleep in! Location is great as well, only 20 minutes to the NFL ferry between Wood Islands, PEI and Caribou, NS. It was close to Montague for shopping and dining out. It was extremely quite and peaceful. We also enjoyed kayaking and upon our return we treated to a "cup of chowder" (Thanks Lisa!) Dean and Lisa were more than friendly and helpful. (Thanks again Dean for the Lobster Pot! Our best meal there as well) We loved our time there and hope to return some day. Thank you so much again.

What I liked:
-Completely renovated about five years ago
-Very friendly owners
-Grounds are impeccably groomed and wide
-Very clean, deep and big heated pool
-Great playground for children (2 swings for infants, two for older children, 2 ring swings, 2 slides, and 2 small houses under swings)
-Soccer cones and ball
-Kayaks and life jackets for free
-Firepit that owners gladly stack up with firewood
-Bbqs for every cottage
-Firepit surrounded by nice benches (no need to drag chairs)
-Nice furnishings (leather-like couch was a bit droopy in the middle, though)
-Curtains that covered the windows quite well (great for young children who go to bed early)
-Ceiling fan in main room (dining, kitchen) if you don't do well with air conditioning
-Air conditioning unit
-Quiet!
-Subtle fence (not really noticeable) at border of water for safety
-Laundry facility
-Great kitchen area that had everything you could ever need to prepare a meal
-A coffee machine that made a full twelve cups of coffee and not one of those two-cups ones
-Fantastic bathroom (in size and choice of furnishings)
-Lord and Mayfair conditioning shampoo, hydrating lotion and soaps as toiletries
-They even didn't skimp out on the quality of the paper towels!!!
What needs improvement:
-Would have loved to have the typical bowls for cereal (they had shallow, wider ones)
-The two bedrooms were a little narrow (about 18 to 24 inches on each side of the bed)
-On a bay of some sort, so get yourself a bottle of bug repellent because they can be ferocious at certain periods of the day -

Ocean acres is located in a gorgeous spot! The cabins are quiet, immaculate and comfortable. The owners, Dean and Lisa, were welcoming and very accommodating...they even provided all of the necessities for cooking, and eating, our live lobsters. The view from the cabins is unspoiled...a huge lawn running up to a river, with a forrested area on the opposite side of the water. There is a swimming pool and a very nice kid's play structure. The kitchen was well-equiped and clean, the beds were comfy and the ambiance fantastic. During our visit to PEI, we stayed at four different motel/hotels and this one was by far the best; we wished that we had spent our entire visit here. We stayed 3 nights...and at night Dean lit the fire pit and the guests were welcome to join in and enjoy the evening. There is live lobster available nearby and it was the best we had on the island and so much more affordable than in a restaurant. We really enjoyed Brehault's restaurant which is a short drive away and is a locals spot, nothing fancy, but good coffee shop food. The rest of the food on PEI was a huge disappointment and we were there for 2 weeks! Do yourself a favor and stay at Ocean acres.

Impressive attention to details..the grounds are very well looked after..the play area was great for our little one..the cottages would comfortably fit a 4 person group..very clean..nice linens and towels..
having a fire pit was lovely..we spent time there almost every evening..
We also borrowed the kayaks and went for a quick spin..having a gym also was nice (we didn't use it, but i's nice to have the option)..
The area was very quiet and peaceful..which we enjoyed..
The owners Dean, Lisa and their little boy mathew were very hospitable, helpful and warm.. -

The cottages, while not new, have been renovated by the new owners to the point where they look and feel recently built. Hardwood and ceramic tile flooring, bathroom fixtures and furniture are all new. The cottages are small two bedroom and functional; the grounds are kept very tidy and clean. The owners were very helpful.
Murray Harbour is pretty quiet but there is a very good restaurant; groceries are available in nearby Montague about a twenty minute drive. Panmure Island Provincial Park is about a fifteen minute drive and even Prince Edward Island National Park (Greenwich) is only about 45 minutes away.

I could not think of anything you could improve on at the cottages.
Interesting side note, my sister and husband from Maryland stayed there last year (we discovered this after our stay).
Just a comment on your tall sign out by the main highway (18 I believe), we drove by the sign twice and it did not catch our eye as a lodging advertisement. It appeared to us to be a real estate development type advertisement (as we drove by fast). You may want to change the top to appear more like a vacation/cottage location. Then again, it might just be us. If it's working don't change it. -

From the moment we arrived we were made very welcome by our host Lisa & son Matthew. Cabins were clean, very well equipped and comfortable. For the 2 days we were here in late august, we experienced a mini heatwave so the pool was perfect for cooling down. Would have loved to have taken a kayak out for a couple of hours but didn't have the time... maybe next year!

This property is pretty, clean, modern, good service, friendly owners, etc. Put the price we paid for a weeks stay was way to high for the amenities available. No air conditioning made the stay quite uncomforting. The swimming pool was convenient and comfortable as well as the laundry faciities.
The cabins were very clean and quiet with comfortable sleeping conditions
Our next visit to the Island will be preceded by a closer inspection of the visitors guide looking for amenities of the property.and more frugal pricings.

The service provided was second to none. They had an answer for every question we had and the one they didn't they found out and got back to you within the hour. The two bedroom cottages were comfortable with queen beds in each room, kitchen, dining table, couch and flat screen tv, covered porch area and barbeque. We had 4 adults in the cottage and even though they are not the biggest they were very comfortable. Used the heated pool daily as well as the fire pit on the water. Everything was supplied from the linens to the pots and pans and plates. Murray Harbour is a small harbour town but within 15 minutes is Montague which has everything you will need from fantistic seafood restaurants to grocery stores. You will not be disapointed with your stay here

We wanted a nice, peaceful and relaxing vacation and this was the spot! Our cottage was clean and comfortable. The property was well kept and beautiful. The warm hospitality we received from Lisa and her son Matthew was great: it was like visiting with old friends. It truly was one of our best vacations, ever!
