This condo was right on the beach... can't get any closer. Fantastic view of the beach on one side and of the Myrtle Beach evening entertainment on the other. It is in the heart of the Myrtle Beach Boardwalk attractions & rides. Lots for the kids/teens to do. Close to all amenities; restaurants, groceries, etc. Comfortable and clean beds/pillows & clean washroom, kitchen with lots of utensils, plates & cutlery. The umbrella, beach chairs and cooler are a fantastic idea, very helpful and saves you money each day on the beach.
Taft & Glenda, the owners, were great to work with. We had a small issue with the towels and they went out of their way to make things right asap. The only issue, if any, may be the noise from the street side on some nights may make it tricky to get (kids) to bed early, but if they use the Murphy bed on the beach front side of condo it is quiet. Overall we had a great week!

I found this beach front condo on-line and was impressed with the "write-up" on it by its' owners. The write-up stated how they fully updated their unit in 2007 with new carpet, granite counter tops, new lighting fixtures, and high end furniture. They also stated how they provided beach chairs and an umbrella for the guests to use during their stay. I was also pleased that this unit would be able to accomodate us arriving and leaving on a weekday instead of the usual weekend times. It was in a central location which was also great, and it had great views from the balcony. All this being said, it seemed like this was exactly what I was looking for.....an owner that took pride in their place, and wanted to provide a pleasant atmosphere to those paying top dollar to stay there.
Unfortunately upon arrival, I was very disappointed, and felt like we had been duped. I had a sinking feeling first of all when I went to the room at 1:30 pm (check-in time is 3 pm) to see if housekeeping was possibly done early, and I saw thru the open window that they hadn't even arrived yet! In our paperwork we were told that we could check to see if housekeeping was done early so we could possibly drop off our luggage. I am not sure when housekeeping actually did arrive, but we were back at 3 pm and they had been there and were gone. That wasn't much time I thought to myself to thoroughly clean a condo of that size, and that is assuming they used the whole hour and a half time frame. Well, needless to say, they didn't do a thorough job, and the place wasn't what I would have expected for the price and the high praises this place received on-line. Specifically, the baseboards were dusty, the light above the dining table was dusty, the frame around the Murphy bed was filled with dust and dirt (there was about an inch space between the box spring and the wooden frame of the bed), behind the Murphy bed was dirty, and behind the nightstand in the bedroom was dirty with cob webs (and there was also pony-tail holders there from previous guests). Under the sofa was dirty too. Obviously housekeeping doesn't move anything! I know all this because we had a 5 year old with us, and kids tend to constantly drop things that you have to go find while on your hands and knees. The basic problem with this lack of cleaning effort is it really makes you wonder about the sheets and towels (which should be white because that shows they have been bleached clean - the towels are not white, but colored which is not a good idea!) if you know what I mean! Did they really change the sheets and the comforter? The table tops were all wiped clean, but that was about the extent of the cleaning. All the supposedly "upscale" furniture and bedding was very, very worn (even the much praised leather sofa recliner), and specifically this big, wicker, extremely chipped up, striped chair that had to be moved in order to use the Murphy bed had dust all around the sides of the chair on its' ledges. Thick dust that just didn't appear in a week. The back bedroom also had a very strong moldy / musty smell that seemed to worsen through the week. I guess my first hint on that should have been the air freshener that was on the dresser as you first walked into the unit. Housekeeping could have at least left us a fresh one, not one that was mostly dried up. I am sure all the prior storage of wet beach chairs in the closet isn't helping the bedroom smell much. While the beach chairs were appreciated, they were almost impossible to open and close because of they are almost completely rusted. One also had to be careful not to get rust stains on your bathing suit or your towels. All the clothing we brought has to be re-washed even if it was never worn because it now carries that room smell.
The same furniture, carpeting, tile, lighting, and counter tops in this particular unit are found in most all of the units in the complex. There are three currently on the market as I write this and their photos show all the same things as this unit except the couch. This unit wasn't anything different from the rest like it was advertised to be. I assumed by the write-up that this unit was "renovated" by the owners, not the complex. There was nothing renovated about this place. If anything, it is due for a renovation! Granite counter tops on the oldest cabinets I have seen in years is not a renovation! The light above the kitchen sink didn't work either, and there was a light bulb hanging down in the refrigerator that practically touched any items you had on your top shelf. There was also a light bulb out in the vanity lighting fixture.
None of the issues in this unit were "critical" , and we just put up with them until it was our time to go. I noticed that the owner stated when responding to another review that she wondered why the guest never called them when someone else had a complaint as to almost imply that it must not have really been a problem. We wouldn't have contacted them over these issues either just for the fact that we would have to take time out from our vacation to wait for a maintenance man, or possibly wait for housekeeping to come back to re-do a job they should have done right in the first place! When you have to point dust out to the cleaning lady, it's time for a new cleaning lady!

Four of us stayed here the week of July 4, 2013 - my husband, mother-in-law, four year old son, and me. This unit was exactly as advertised. The beds were comfortable, including the murphy bed, the kitchen well-stocked and everything we needed was at hand. Having the chairs we could take to the beach was nice. The chairs you could rent really weren't very comfy or nice, so we would rent an umbrella only for $20 and take the chairs with us. There were sand toys in the unit, so that was nice. We didn't have to buy any. The cooler and umbrella were there, but we didn't use them. There was plenty of storage space for our clothes - nice, deep drawers - and groceries. The unit was very clean. The view was fantastic. The location on the boardwalk puts you in the middle of everything. It was nice being able to walk to dinner. The pools were all nice and we enjoyed them every day. I've seen some people complain about parking. We usually had to park in the farthest lot away, but we didn't find it that inconvenient. It was a four minute walk - the lot is easily visible from the street side balcony. I've seen others complain about the front desk, but the lady I checked in with was very courteous. That was the only time I had to speak to anyone there.

This room is in the Holiday Inn in Myrtle Beach. Though in the Holiday Inn, you do not get access to the computer, gym, breakfast and other amenities that the hotel has to offer. The owner decides to not go through with this service to save on fees for their own pocket. With that being said, you do not get room service, the request of fresh sheets, towels, washcloths etc, is not available. The grungy towels and washcloths we had to use to bathe with was unheard of. The dishes in the cabinet and silverware in the drawer were stacked neat, yet at an upclose view it had hardened food stuck on them. I would not recommend room 921 to anybody. As you stood on the balcony you did have a nice view. Not worth it! We paid for a weeks vacation and couldnt take it anymore after 3 days. We came home to feel clean. I rated the service poor instead of terrible because the Holiday Inn did allow me to check my email to contact the owner to get in my room because we were given the wrong code to get in. So my husband and 2 children had to stand on the catwalk with all the luggage until I got answers. Read more
We're sorry to hear that this guest was disappointed, but many of their complaints are unfounded so we would like to respond to each. This is not the Holiday Inn and is not a hotel. This is a condo. None of the condos in this resort are in any way affiliated with the Holiday Inn chain. It seems like this guest was looking for a hotel experience. It is a vacation rental and as is customary, daily maid service is not available. Instead, the condo is stocked with plenty of towels for use during the stay and of course sheets are changed weekly and between stays, which is often the case with hotels as well.
This guest states that we are saving on fees for our own pocket, but failed to mention that they saved hundreds of dollars by renting directly through us rather than through the management company handling almost all other condos in this resort.
All guests and tenants in this resort have access to wireless internet. However, when the guest called us (not email) about the code, which we admit we did accidentally transpose, we responded immediately. At least they were able to avoid the hot crowded lobby and go straight to their condo instead of standing in line waiting to check in:-).
With regard to the breakfast and gym, at no time did we lead the guest to believe that they would have these amenities. However, they didn't really miss out on much. The gym has 4 pieces of equipment and the breakfast is very crowded and extremely limited. Instead we provide coffee in the condo and suggest that people use a small portion of the money they save staying with us to get a hot breakfast at some of the nice nearby restaurants.
In addition, we provide things that other guests in the resort do not have access to such as a double leather reclining couch, 4 beach chairs, an umbrella (to save having to bring your own or pay the beach vendors $65/day!), a cooler, a blender, a CD player/radio, a DVD player, kids toys for the pool & beach, and a fully equipped kitchen rather than only a few cups, bowls, plates, utensils and pans. Ours is stocked with everything we could think of so guests can save real money using the kitchen to cook rather than treating it as a hotel room.
With regard to the towels, we do not provide white hotel quality towels. Instead they are thicker and color coordinated with the decor. They are washed between guests and replaced regularly. Perhaps they were expecting hotel white, but we can't imagine why they were unhappy with them.
With regard to the dishes, obviously housekeeping needs to keep a closer eye on what previous guests have washed and put back in the cabinets, which we will address immediately.
We hate to hear that anyone feels like they were disappointed and did not enjoy their vacation, and so far this is a first for us in 7 years. We take pride in providing much more value than the management company provides its guests and an easy unstressful process, but for less money. Had this guest communicated with us we of course would have done everything in our power to assist them with their concerns. Unfortunately we never heard from them to give us this opportunity.
We understand that we will never make everyone 100% happy, but we will certainly try!

Stayed in this unit on a guys golf trip! So not much time was spent in the room. However the beds were comfortable including the Murphy bed! The upgraded leather sofa was also a big plus! To me the biggest assets to this unit was the beach chairs and cooler! Very convienent to have these already on your room. If you're coming in the prime months with your teenagers this is the spot for you! It's literally in the heart of it all!
Value- excellent ! I always go to MB in the off season anyway..
Comfort- untit very comfortable! I personally liked the Murphy bed!
Cleanliness- everything seemed to be on par.
Ease of check in - Very easy because its done direct with the owners! I would not want to be in that lobby during the summer months on a Saturday !
Location- close proximity to everything! Food, entertainment, beach it's all right there. Would not have to get into the car agin until you are heading home. This place is ideal for a family with teenagers..
Service - had one problem with the commode.. Was taken care of promptly by the owners! Communication with the owners is great! However the lobby folks can get snippy because u did not rent through them. Luckily I only had to deal with them for the parking pass. But just in that short few minute interaction you could sense the coldness with them.

Overall, we enjoyed our stay the location was great, view was awesome and the condo was relatively clean. Somethings need to be updated and the kitchen could use a few more supplies. We just went to the condo this past weekend in response to this review and were horrified to find how much had disappeared from the condo over the summer that had not been reported by the housekeeping staff and therefore had not been replaced. It had only the basic items that all the other condos in this resort have and we pride ourselves on offering our guests more than everyone else. Needless to say this has been rectified. The kitchen is now fully equipped again with not only dishes, glasses, cups, pots and pans and utensils but pyrex bakeware & bowls, muffin tins, pie pan, loaf pan, cookie sheets, salad bowl & tongs, a colandar, pizza pan, wine glasses, kids plates, cups & utensils and more. We replaced the worn out non-stick frying pan with not one, but 3 new frying pans of various sizes. We replaced all the utensils & glasses. We stocked it with everything we could think of. Of course it already had a blender, toaster, coffee maker and full sized appliances (fridge, stove & microwave). All of the beach chairs and the umbrella were also replaced within the last month (other condos in this resort don't have these at all). The condo is in tip top shape again! Housekeeping has new marching orders!

The Wi-Fi code was almost impossible to get out of the office staff (Thank God, you don't have to deal with them!) Glenda, the property owner, was very prompt at returning calls and text. The kids[8,10,12] loved the ocean with their boogie boards, the pools and the Murphy Bed. My 40 y.o. dgt. thought tile floors would be better than the carpet for cleanliness. I was happy not to have to cross a road!! We rode the 20 story ferris wheel-fun! The board-walk was great!

Very clean unit and comfortable bed. Great beach views. Bar across street loud in evening. Some kind of local apts.? adjacent provided some interesting people watching-might have been spillovers from the bar across the street. Front desk folks pleasant. We enjoyed sitting on the couch that the owners brag about and watching Dvds while looking out the living room window to a great view of the beach and ocean. The small adds such as beach umbrella and toaster were nice. It is right between the 14th St Pier and the SkyWheel with the downtown activities right there. The only downside is the street noise at night but the 9th floor is not too bad. Actually the hotels are not quite as dense there as just to the north because the boardwalk shops are on the beachfront, so the beach is enjoyable.

We stayed at this condo in October 2010. The weather was still very nice and we were able to enjoy the beach, but unable to frolic in the ocean, as the water had turned cold. The location was wonderful and the condo was very clean. However, one of the main indoor pool was not heated and we had to complain numerous times before they finally turned the heat on. The lazy river was great and my 5 year old had a great time playing in it.

This unit was at the end of the floor, meaning little or no walk by traffic, which was appreciated. The combination lock entrance also very useful. You enter into the bedroom, which featured two beds and a tv. Comfortable. This room is on the street side. The only minor problem was noise from the bar directly across the street. A classic car show was in town and every time a nice car went by the patrons would scream for a tire squeal. Wonderful. This and the drunks made it noisey until about 2 am on a couple of days. Had the bedroom been on the ocean side it wouldn't have been an issue. Still the condo itself works very well. A small gally kitchen and washroom (bring your own toilet paper) are adequate. The living room area had a very comfortable leather couch and murphy bed (we didn't need it). Another tv as well. A small balcony overlooked the beach and condo grounds, which includes an indoor and outdoor pool. Overall a very pleasant condo.

We arrived april 15 and left May 14, 2011. The condo was perfect for my wife and I with access to indoor and outdoor pools and loungers. The salt water pool was refreshing and kept very clean. The cleaning staff were friendly and helpful. The condo was well equiped and well furnished. Bathroom facilities were very adequate with very hot water always available. Parking was convenient with 15 minute loading/unloading spots. Views of the ocean as well as the street were both convenient and welcomed as we could keep an eye in both directions. The condo is located right in the heart of the tourist section of Ocean Blvd. and a new ferris wheel called the "SkyWheel" was being constructed right next to the Condo. An added bonus was the new Boardwalk which passed directly in front of the condo and stretched to Pier 2. A very interesting feature is Pier 14 in front of the hotel where one can dine on early bird specials of prime rib or fresh fish for bargain prices. We both enjoyed ourselves immensely and overlooked the rudeness of the front desk. We rented directly from the owners who were very hospitable.

I have been to Myrtle Beach 11 times in the past 4 yrs. and have stayed at several different places. The Taft's condo is most definitely the nicest one by far! The decor is just beautiful! They have furnished it with style! Also, there are necessities provided for you that most places don't think of...cooler, beach chairs, umbrella. These are a real convenience.
Also, the Taft's were very friendly and always responded in a timely manner. The whole reservation process was easy and fast. We will definitely stay with them again.

We had a great family vacation at this resort. The kids went from pool to pool to the beach and back again. The adults enjoyed frosty drinks from the pool bar:-)! We walked to the surrounding shops and restaurants. Then we went to Broadway at the Beach which is literally less than 5 minutes away where there was even more to do for everyone (kids, grandparents and parents).
The condo was perfect with an incredible view of the beach, the pools and pool bar, the ocean and Pier 14. The sunrise is incredible! The full kitchen made things easy with the kids for breakfast, lunch and left overs from restaurants. The murphy bed is by far more comfortable than any sleeper sofa and as comfortable as the other beds which was surprising! The leather recliner couch was a treat! We stayed here before the leather couch and this is a huge upgrade that the other units don't have. We also enjoyed having a DVD player for the kids at night, which wasn't here before.
The family that owns this condo also added beach chairs, an umbrella and a cooler which was a huge help so we didn't have to figure out how to bring all of this stuff, or worse, rent/buy it.
Overall I would definitely recommend that you stay not only at this resort, but in this condo if you want the best condo in the resort! They made reserving and checking in more simple than we could have imagined renting from private owners and they definitely thought of everything that the other condos don't have.

This condo was extremely clean, the price was very reasonable, and the views and location could not be beat. If you have small or teenage children there is alot to do in walking distance. If you have teens this is a very good area for them to be, much to do within just a couple of blocks such as arcades, a sling shot ride across the street, dance clubs if they are 18 and up (non-alcholic for under 21). The restraunt at the pier (two minute walk) has the best prime rib sandwich and you can dine outside or in. The beach bar by the pool had great frozen drinks. We had a very relaxing stay and our son had a great time. Parking overall not a problem, but if you are parking late-after 11:00pm, can be a slight walk.

We loved the location of this unit. It was right in the heart of everything such as the beach and shopping. The indoor and outdoor heated pools and lazy river were great and, of course, the beach was beautiful. Also, the couch was comfortable!!! We will definitely look into renting this condo again.
