We don't often get all of our kids and grandkids together, but we rented a house and everyone made it to the beach for an amazing week! The house was nice and we were lucky enough to have beautiful weather for most of our stay. It was a memory-making week!

Anyone renting this house should check the artwork by the upstairs thermonstat referenced in the post below. If it is re-hung the way it was when we stayed there it will certainly fall again. Something this heavy with sharp edges should be mounted with toggle bolts or screws directly into the studs behind the drywall not with the flimsy push in hooks that were used. We are lucky it didn't fall off and injure one of the children. If it hasn't been installed properly, I would suggest taking it down and putting behind the sofa during your stay.

An aluminum fish art piece hanging by a very small hook surrounds the thermostat in this house. While adjusting the temp, the fish fell on my 70-year-old mother's hand, slicing through her finger, and requiring 10 stitches. When reported to the rental office, their only concern was whether the artwork had been damaged. And to make sure that we were aware of the insurance disclaimer in their rental agreement. No concern or follow-up whatsoever about the injury received. Will not rent from them again!

Your particular situation, peculiar at best was one of the unknown. We understand how a cutting ones hand could put a damper on a Beach vacation. We sympathize for your inconvenience and as always, take concern when our guests experience injury. We do however stand by the fact that injuries do occur and when they do, we do our best to confirm that the injury was not a result of negligence on our or the owners behalf. If it was a result of negligence, we accept blame and move forward. However, if it is not, we offer our sympathies and confirm that the home is in upstanding order. A picture miraculously falling off of a wall and cutting someone’s hand is a questionable situation and although we understand the inconvenience of the injury, we do not feel that it was a result of our negligence. The service upon arriving was great. The only part that frustrated me was that since we arrived early I asked for the "agent" who was at the front desk at the time to call my cell when the home and keys were ready and I never received the call.
The home was great also. The only downfalls were that the sofa bed that is advertised was not there. They did have a queen size blow up mattress in it's place which would've been fine, but there wasn't a pump for that. We were short 1 bed, so we had to make a bed on the floor--not ideal. The other part was that the home was not as clean as I would've preferred. In every bathroom there was hair on the sink and still sand on the floors. The kitchen table still had food on it and crumbs all over the counter, but overall the set up of the home along with it's location was great!
The location was amazing!! Nags Head is really the hub of OBX. It's in proximity to everything and you can travel north or south to get different experiences everyday and not feel like you're in the car all day!
I loved the feel of the home and it made a great getaway for the families that went.

First time we stayed 15mp and I was very worried about location and how clean as end of busy season. No need to worry as everything was wonderful from the backpack we received at check in until the sad day we had to leave. Cottage well equiped and only thing we would have liked was big porch across front of upper deck and maybe a broom. Joked that maybe owners would add a upper deck before we came back. We felt so comfortable being in the beautiful home and felt we could be great friends with the owners as they seem like our kind of people. We look forward to "Forrest Family Beach Week" every year and are true beach lovers. We spent every day on the beach and our youngest son and his wife taught the 4 grandchildren ages, 8, 7,6 and 5 how to surf. No kidding.earned to surf. Our dream is to rent a house on the ocean but cost is always a factor. This house made us feel closer to the sea. Thanks for everything. Not sure about next year but will decide in January.

The house was great for families with kids. The pool was nice as was the hot tub. The screened porch was a great place to read a book or just look out at the ocean or the sound.
The pathway to the to the back of the house towards the pool could have been cleared better. The grass and weeds were a little to be desired as the landscaping could have used an upkeep. There also could have been more small to average size food storage containers in the kitchen as they were mostly large.
Otherwise it was a great house. -

We loved this home. The convenience to the beach and attractions were great. We would definitely recommend this house to friends/family.
The only disappointment was the broken pool cues. Some were set into the rack as if they were in tack, but when we removed them. they were broken. We had one to use and the tip fell out, so we glued it back in.
Not a big deal, just thought you should know. Thank you
