Milepost 16.2. This beach cottage provides excellent views and lovely sunsets over Roanoke Sound. Yet, it is only a 5 minute walk to the beach access (250 yards to the beach). Close to area attractions (2 blocks from Jennette's Pier), shopping and dining (within walking distance). Cottage has 7 TVs (cable), 2 DVDs and a VCR. Pool is 12x28 with a large area around it. All bedrooms have TVs and clock radios. Other amenities include picnic table in pool area and deck furniture. Rec room has wet bar, mini-fridge, pool table, foosball table, books, movies and games. For our first ever beach house rental with kids and grandkids, it turns out we picked a feature-packed rental home. The living and sleeping areas are incredibly spacious and well-planned for multi-family use. The open, well-lit kitchen had plenty of high-quality dishes, cookware and utensils, and the unadvertised extra pantry with 2nd refrigerator was a welcome surprise for the cooks! We made good use of the huge dining table for family board games, and when we entertained visiting relatives from Ohio there was plenty of room for a total of 21 people for dinner. The grandkids enjoyed the game room, and they loved the large pool! There are multiple back decks with good views of the pool below and of the ocean with lifeguarded beach near Jennette's Pier, just a short walk away. (The pier is open for night-fishing, and our dads and sons took the opportunity to make a memory by catching a skate!) A favorite family highlight was watching a spectacular lightning storm over the sound from the front deck off the dining room. We appreciated the personal contact with the owner, both through the rental process and in meeting our needs during our visit. We would definitely rent this house again.

We enjoyed the house very much and it was at a great location for us to walk to the beach and the guys walked to the fishing pier. And then there was Fatboyz a few steps away which had great ice cream. This was the cleanest house we stayed in since coming to the Outer Banks over 30 years. Fastest check-in I ever had anywhere in my travels.

I love this place and the owner is super nice! I've rented Shell Town 58 for several years and I've turn lots of friends on to this house and they've loved their stay as well! Can't wait til next year!!!

We were very pleased with our rental of Shell Town. The location was great -- not too long of a walk to the beach and the proximately to Jeanette's Pier and a life guard on duty was perfect. House was comfortable, nice pool & hot tub. Would have liked house to have dvds and a wagon to tote things back and forth to the beach would have been helpful.

This home has a great location, near a small family grocery store, a fish market, the new pier for fishing & evening walks, plus a short walk to a nice beach. It was clean & well equipped and has a deck over the pool so you can watch everyone while playing cards & games. The layout of the home made it easy for the older folks to sleep while the younger ones played pool. All in all it made our vacation more enjoyable.

We stayed in this home for the first time. The views to the ocean and sound were great! Sunrises and Sunsets all in one place.
The pool and hot tub in the back yard were wonderful and the game room good too.
We fit well and it was decorated very comfortably. We would like to come back and stay there again but it depends on the cost and the weeks available. -

The house was very clean. It was well-equipped and was very close the what was stated on the web-site. The things that I feel need to be addressed are the very hard mattresses on most of the beds, especially the one in the master suite. Also in the master suite, the white window coverings on the sliding doors let in too much light from the highway.

We had a great time with gorgeous weather, great family and the perfect house for our stay. The kids loved having the pool, hot tub and the ocean to choose from. Really, the only issues that we had were dull knives and non-room darkening blinds. Other than that, it was a great vacation.
