This home is so close to the ocean you won't want to leave the house. We spent many evenings on the deck just admiring the view. We we quite pleased with the decor and the location is very convenient!!

The Crystal Gable is a beautiful house, loved the keyless entry. Just a little small for the amount of vacationers that go with us. The pool is great. Needs more parking area, it's tight with Suvs. The rooms were all good size.
With a smaller group I would rent it again. -

We've stayed in a lot of places over the years. This one was great.
Location was fabulous being so close to many great places in Nags Head and close to Jockey's Ridge. House was well stocked with kitchen items, books, beach items, etc. Very clean and comfortable. Enjoyed having the option of shade on the top deck and picnic table beach side was nice feature too. Easily accommodated our large family. Could use a little more seating area in the living room and the under the house parking was tricky. Other than that, great place to stay. -

The home was attractive and clean. Large, comfortable master suite. New hot tub is privately located. Home is close to Blue Moon Cafe and Mulligans...great restaurants. The pool ladder needs new bolts (loose & dangerous).

The home was very nice but had many issues that prevented us from fully enjoying the property. The heated pool was only functional for half the stay. Received conflicting information about the time line to activate heat, then pool was overflowing when we arrived(pool co. forgot to take out hose), and finally the last three days the heat would cut out. My kids enjoyed it a lot while it worked. Main level electronics not properly functioning, and the microwave appears to be improperly installed(wobbly). Decking around back of home and pool needs attention- aging wood and raised nails) Additionally the second floor bedrooms had been smoked in..so we had to move grandma to top floor bedroom. The home has a very nice location, furnishings are nice. If all these issues were corrected we would likely return.

Rest assured we have communicated your concerns to the outside pool vendor and have not had further guest complaints. Pool heat has been corrected with heater electronics in working order. Boards around the pool area have been nailed down and a few are being replaced. Resort Realty apologizes for the smoke smell in one of the home’s bedrooms as this is a non-smoking property and a previous guest did not abide by our policy. Please also know the microwave has been checked, was installed correctly and is in working order. Our number one priority is to make sure our guests not only have the best possible experience, but to make sure that our guests are happy and satisfied. All of us here at Resort Realty hope you will give us another opportunity as your vacation rental company of choice.

We like to keep the house up during our stay so we had to have the vacuum replaced but Resort Realty quickly got a brand new one for us. The house was beautiful and mfully equipted. We found a couple of things things that needed fixing but we fixed them because we feel like we were treating the renters house like it was our own. Crystal Gables is a terrific place to vacation.

We stayed at the Crystal Gable 2 years ago and loved it! This time there were some issues that left us a bit disappointed. Mostly was the safety of the deck, floor boards on the deck and stairs, and the deck furniture. Nails were sticking up or completely coming off and the floor boards were coming off the top steps of the deck. This is a huge risk when your traveling with children between 3 - 11. We couldn't use the celing fan in the main floor bedroom b/c it shook so badly we thought it would come off. Tv's were complex to figure out and most remotes had no batteries. Microwave was very loose in its mounted structure. Door knobs didn't lock (or unlock once we locked them) on connecting bathrooms. Internet connection did not work consistently. Floor boards on the deck around the pool were dangerous b/c they were loose, raised, or had nails sticking up. We loved the fact that we could do laundry while there requiring us to pack less but the washing machine would shut off mid cycle. Like I said before, our stay 2 years ago was wonderful and we loved the house. I just think things are slipping and not being repaired by the owner. However, Resort Realty was nice to work with. Due to the previous week's rental the cleaning took much longer than expected so we could not check in on time and Resort Realty was very apolgetic. They were doing what they could to get us in. Nags Head is a great place to visit and we will most definetly be back we just will stay in a different home next time. I think we are outgrowing it and $6000 was alot to spend for this home.

Loved everything except the pool. the pool was not clean when we arrived nor did it ever get cleaned. Nobody wanted to swim in it so we had to float on floats the whole time. For as much money as we paid for the house for a week (which we loved), i think we could have at least expected to have the pool cleaned at some point. Would otherwise choose Resort Realty again for our next stay.

House is gorgeous and in a great place! However, the pots and pans were almost unusable (peeling teflon, missing lids, etc.) The vacuum cleaner didn't work, even after my can-fix-anything hubbie cleaned it thoroughly. the house advertises a pack and play, but it is unsafe. One of the bars is permanently bent incorrectly, making it impossible for it to stay up. It could seriously harm a child...the owners need to remove it. The bathrooms are nice, but could use more hooks/bars for hanging towels. Overall, a great house...just needs minor fixes.

I have to give Crystal Gables a low score because, despite a great location and nice furnishings, things were not as advertised. The washer hose came loose and poured water all over the bedroom hallway. For 4 days we had to run dehumidifiers and fans day and night, with cords everywhere, people tripping over the cords, children walking on wet carpeting, and workmen coming and going. Six televisions? Nope - only 3 worked, and the big one in the family room was broken most of the week (my brother finally fixed it).
It was not at all what I'd planned for my family and I was very disappointed. And to add insult to injury, the owner of the house, whose negligence in not keeping the washer hose in good repair and televisions all working was the cause of these problems, refused to consider any sort of remuneration for all those issues (though Resort Realty offered a small one). Tonya of Resort Realty was helpful throughout our week of problems.

I have already filled out a previous review about out stay with no response from your agency. We are very unhappy with the condition of the house that we stayed in. We had to deal with 1/2 in. to 1 1/2 in. roaches; dirty dishes, mildew in the showers, trash around the pool and underneath the decking of the pool. For the price we paid, we were greatly disappointed. At this point I will not use your agency again, even though you came highly recommended by a friend who loves your agency. We have stated in similar properties around the same time of the year with a pool and those house were not only cheaper but were in great condition. The only thing I liked about your agency was the easy check-out. I stated in my other review that I would love to receive some kind of reimbursement for our discouragement of the house but since you've asked me twice to rate the house; I'm guessing you ignore the reviews. I hope you read this and at least try to change some of your cleaning poilicies. The shower that I have to encounter was absolutely disgusting.

Spectacular Oceanfront Views

The house was just what my family was looking for with regard to location, square footage & living space. We had 8 adults & 1 toddler. The oceanfront views were spectacular and the house was pretty well equipped. We rented a full sized crib from the realtor, which worked out well. However, we dragged a portable high chair with us only to find there was a high chair in the house already. This should have been listed in the amenities. There were a few other small problems: bathroom door knobs/locks installed incorrectly, some window screens kept falling out, and the "heated" pool never really got warm (despite the $300 price tag for heating). We had great weather, fabulous family time and came home with some great memories. We'd certainly return to Nags Head, OBX and possibly even Crystal Gable if some improvements are made to the house.

Crystal Gables is located perfectly and the home is wonderful. The stay was everything our extended family hoped for. I would certainly rent this home again as well as recommend it to anyone looking for the perfect vacation. We loved the location, it was perfect for our daughter and family. The pool was wonderful and the weather cooperated and the entire family was highly pleased.
Resort Realty was wonderful, all questions were answered, the crib arrived exactly as promised and I was very impressed with Resort Realty interest in making our stay enjoyable. -

We rented this cottage as a family vacation with children and grandchildren. We loved the configuration of the house which allowed for quiet and privacy if desired. The decks and porches are great and the windows in the upper level allowed great views.
I would make the following suggetions: One of the ladder rungs (lowest) on the pool ladder was broken making it difficult to exit the poor for some of us oldsters. Also, the railing at the steps was loose and needs repair.
Our mattress was great in the top floor bedroom but the bed in the master bedroom and the back bedroom were not so great and should probably be replaced.
An extra coffee maker for decaf is a good idea, too. We've stayed in many places over nearly 50 years and nearly all cottages have 2 coffee makers.
Although we loved the TV sound system and the fabulous TV itself, it was complicated to operate if you decided to use the DVD player. It took nearly 2 hours one evening to figure out how to turn the sound back on after the children had watched a Little Mermaid movie.
I liked the carpeting. The house was easy to keep clean but I would extend the small bit of ground between the bottom entrance and the path to the pool as well as to the first flight of outside steps to prevent sand from tracking up the stairs and into the pool. Oh, and the gate between the beach and the pool needs repair. I was always a little concerned that a small child could access the pool because of the open gate which we kept closed with a brick.
We didn't have a beach deck as advertised. It was covered with sand which we understand is part of the shifting dunes. Not a problem.
And this is a minor issue but you might think about smaller dinner plates. The ones in the cottage are large and obstruct the wand in the dishwasher. WE found "dirty" dishes in the cabinets which I'm sure had been through the dishwasher but just didn't get clean. Same for the glasses.
No pets so we can't come back. Too bad. -

My husband and I rented this last year for our wedding. It was in a great location and we were promised a lot of things. The walkway to the beach was not cleared of sand, the grill was old and nasty. The pool was not cleaned out every day like we were told it was. We had a great wedding and our friends and family loved the house. We had to wait 24 hrs before we got linen service which was supposed to be part of our contract. I would recommend this house but make sure you get everything in writing or else you are going to be out of luck. They didn't even refund some of our money for all of the headaches we had.

This was a beautiful home! I loved the big clean kitchen that was well appointed. I loved the master suite; it was huge! The location is perfect because it's so close to grocery stores, restaurants and shopping. The beach here is wide and there wasn't a huge drop off as soon as you step in the water. The pool was clean and enjoyable with a nice stereo system to pump out music to the deck area. We had a very relaxing stay here. My only suggestion for improvement was the need for more window coverings in the living area.
