Philadelphia, PAIt's great to be back in OBX!
Left on 08/18/2012 for a stay in August 2012
We used to vacation in the Outer Banks in the mid-80s, and I hadn't been back since this year. I was anxious at first because of all the development in the area, but this particular location was quiet, and perfect proximity to the beach, retail, pier, main road, recreation... you name it.
Resort Realty(RR) offered rewards and a military discount w/ this property so that was a nice bonus. My experience w/ RR was great, they were prompt, courteous, and patient when I had questions. Their Guestweb service for checking contract information, billing, etc was very helpful.
Cons: It's a rental, I get that but is it too much to ask for some decent kitchen items; sharper knives, potholders for removing items from the oven, maybe some baking sheets? Also the front right burner didn't work all the time if I recall. I would've also appreciated less knick knacks and decor. It was a little irritating to arrive at the house and have to childproof for my 11mos old and a 3y/o. Way too many shells, silk flowers, books, ceramic fish, etc. The decks were hard to navigate at times. Internet or better cable tv would've been nice for the rainy days. Each deck had a different access point the house which was confusing at times. A covered porch to enjoy the scenery/outdoors more would've been nice.
Pros: The house was a great value for it's size and amenities. My sister and I family stayed here (2 kids, & 3 adults). We enjoyed the ability to sleep on separate floors, retreating to our own spaces at the end of the day. The keyless entry was an awesome feature. No worries about who has the key, or if it's lost! The view off the back deck was beautiful. We could see our set up on the beach during the day, which has it's advantages. I appreciated the hammock, the deck chairs, the board games!! I rigged a second hammock up on the front lower deck with hooks that were installed, that was nice nap!Response from Resort Realty Outer Banks - 09/25/2012

Thank you for your review of "Duck-In", and welcome back to the OBX. We're happy to hear that you had a good experience with Resort Realty, and we apologize for the frustration of not having enough kitchen items. We will certainly address that with the owner before next season and will pass on your other recommendations. Thanks again for taking the time to send us your comments. We hope to see you again next year.

We have been going to the outerbanks for the last few years now and this house was a good pick. In the past we have had some rentals that were not as clean or welcoming, but this one was much better than the others. It is only a short walk to the beach, which is great for us that have kids and have to take a ton of stuff!! Great view from the deck, however I would suggest better deck furnature. Overall our stay was good and the rental was comfortable.

RaleighInteresting property

In general this property is OK. Nothing super exciting, nothing too bad. Its proximity to the beach is very good and it has a good location within Nags Head. The bathrooms, fridge and bedrooms were clean. Ben linens were readily available as were the towels. Kitchen was well stocked with plates, bowls, cookware, etc. Good cable TV reception too. There was lots of outdoor seating on the decks; however, the decks didn't connect so you constantly had to go back into the house to get to one of the other decks (which was a little weird). Unfortunately, there is a strong musty, mildew odor as soon as you walk in the kitchen door. The carpet & the furniture is old, dated and rather worn (lots of spots & stains). One bathroom had the bubble ceiling falling off during our stay. You could see where other repairs were made to the ceilings due to water damage. The outdoor shower was inoperable. One of the storm doors was broken & clearly had been broken for a while. The light fixtures in the house were rather difficult to figure out. Other than the moldy, musty smell, the rest of the issues were easily overlooked. Overall, the trip was a good trip and we enjoyed our time at Nags Head.

We were there 2 weeks in '08. This house on a dead end street has great beach access and with 3 or 4 abandoned houses facing the beach there are few people on the beach itself.
The kitchen is adequate for family meals. The decks on 2 sides have views of the ocean and the street. The bedrooms were small, but only in them to sleep! The main room was ok, lots of cabinets at the kitchen end make a tight passage from the back door. We're coming back for 2 weeksin '09
