The house was excellent. Clean and well organized, well decorated but not cluttered. Well equiped kitchen!
The best of all worlds.

This is a truly excellent rental house. It's very nicely appointed, with an open-plan upper floor that's extremely comfortable for a large family gathering or group of friends. The only things between your back door and the beach are a nice small pool, hot tub, and short path. The location is great--very close to two grocery stores, a good pizzeria, mini-golf, etc. Also within walking distance of Tortuga's Lie!
We also deeply appreciated how well-stocked the kitchen was, as we're serious cooks and made most of our meals in-house. The cupboards are stocked with more servicewear than you'd ever need, and the pots, pans, and utensils were far above the bargain-basement quality you might expect in a rental house. It was also wonderful to have an extra refrigerator in the basement and a carefully maintained washer and dryer.
If I had to come up with a few negatives, I'd have to reach. The bathrooms were a bit small for sharing, and there could've been some shelf space since the sink tops were also small. Shower shelving for shampoo bottles and soap would've been nice. And I'd have appreciated if the kitchen had a spice rack, more tupperware, plastic wrap and foil.

The perfect house!

This is our 3rd year and we love it. It fits our family size (4 adults 1 child) and is cozy. Love the elevator! Enjoyed the pool the first part of the week. Unfortunately a cold front came through later in the week so no swimming. We enjoyed the beach every day. The house is so centrally located we can be to our favorite restaurants or grocery store in 10 minutes. We rent bikes and explore daily. Can't wait till our 2014 stay!
Very pleasantly surprised

This was not our first time renting from Resort Realty. This time we needed a smaller house on the beach which isn't easy to find. When the owner decided not to rent the original house we chose, Resort Realty was very helpful in finding a replacement. In the 12 years we've been coming to the OBX this house had the best stocked kitchen. The caretaker did a great job preparing the home and was very friendly. If we could find fault with anything it was that the walkway to the beach needed shoveled, it had about a foot of sand on it. My husband and I will definitely rent again from Resort Realty and would rent the Nags Header again. Read more

It pleases us to know that you were happy with the home and our service. I have let our staff know about the sand as that can definitely be a frustrating inconvenience. Thank you for your review and for choosing Resort Realty. We look forward to seeing you again!

Great service. The housekeepers were very nice and friendly.
We loved the house but everyone wanted a TV in there room at night. I know! We also would have liked another bathroom. Adults did not want to share the bathroom with the kids. A larger deck on the house and a hose to wash your feet off after coming from the beach. That actually was my biggest complaint. We will be back with fewer people.

Great place to stay - directly on beach. Includes pool and hot tub. A heated pool would have been nice to have but not necessity. Ant problem in kitchen was a negative. Landscaping in front of house leaves much to be desired; however, overall wonderful experience. Read more

What a great cottage!!! My parents own and rent out the cottage across the street and they visited us. We couldn't get over how well stocked the kitchen was. I personally loved, loved, the colors, decorative accents, etc. The view couldn't have been better and the pool was a good size. The aC units were able to "keep up" despite the 100+ degree days. It was also clean, which was a pleasant surprise. We've mostly rented from Joe Lamb in years past and have never arrived to a clean cottage. I confidently rented this knowing the beach wasn't too crowded in this area and wasn't let down. There are only a couple of small things I wish had been different...first, I wish the walkway from the pool to the beach had been cleared. It was difficult for our older guests and little ones to get to the beach on days where the sand temperature was unbearably hot to hike up the sand pile. Also, a foot rinse basin would've been nice by the pool. (We bought one and left it there.) Lastly, there was a floating light connected by an electrical cord in the pool when we arrived. My husband made sure the breaker wasn't on but it was very unsettling to see. The cleaning guy called in this problem when we arrived but no one came. On Wednesday (?) when the pool cleaning guy came we asked him to fix it and he did. It lasted for less than a day and was floating again... Read more

Thank you for your review of "Nags Header". It pleases us to know that you and your family loved the house. We have passed on your recommendations about the walkway and foot rinse to the owner. We also advised him about the comments regarding their pool vendor. Thank you for booking your vacation with Resort Realty, and we hope to see you again next year!

This was our 6th vacation in Nags Head. The Nags Header felt like a home rather than a cottage. This ocean front home was very comfortable for our extended family. We spent many hours ocean + pool side. We were happy with sleeping+ kitchen supplies. The central location was a plus.
The route to the ocean needs attention. Small children+ older adults had difficulty navigating the path.

The house was beautiful, functional, comfortable, and very clean! We loved the extra amenities like the elevator, extra fridge, early check-in, linen service, pool, and hot tub. We felt right at home and really enjoyed our week. We were disappointed that the hot tub was broken until Thursday afternoon. The beach was a little more crowded than previous stays at other OBX rentals, but it was fine. This location seems to be a popular surfing spot. The walkway to the beach was buried in sand, which was okay for most to navigate but difficult for some. It also should be noted that the house has a gas grill . . . . We were unnecessarily prepared with charoal. Great house, great location!
Excellant week with family

We really enjoyed our stay.
Only concerns we had were the dirty condition of windows on the ocean side and ants in the kitchen. We would not let these minor concerns ruin a wonderful week stay.

The house is perfect. Enough bedrooms, laid out well, the elevator is such a plus for the women that travelled. The view from over the dunes is still breathtaking. There is nothing like the ocean. One small request, that the stairs that lead to the beach be cleaned off occassionally so that those of us who are no long agille enough to climb (literally) up a part of the dunes, could in fact reach the beach and get back. Each of us has health issues so the beach was not accessible for us. Hot tub was great, even used the pool, perfect weather and my bucket list has always included seeing Cape Hatteras lighthouse. Woohoo

The house was furnished very nicely and decorated in a beach theme. Kitchen was one of the most well equipped rentals we have had - lots of pots, pans, cutlery, dishes, etc. The views out the living room windows were spectacular. We wish they had not taken off the large deck in order to accommodate the elevator, as the existing decks were very small and couldn't fit more then three people at a time. Pool was nice and so was the hot tub. The star attraction was the ocean, which was very close and easily accessible from the home. All seven days were warm and sunny. Overall, this was a lovely, laid back vacation and the house was very comfortable for the five of us.
Nice Home, Bad Experience
Left on 08/15/2010 for a stay in June 2010 | Nice Home, Bad Experience
The home was nice...the service and condition was not...upon arrival the pool was dirty and the hot tub did not work (it only ended up working one day during the week we were there and our calls and complaints were just ignored after Friday)...the cabana was not easily accessible from the pool or ocean as advertised, but it's condition was very poor, so we would not have used it anyway...after the initial pool cleaning we did not see the pool boy again for the remainder of the week...the grill was disgusting and could not be used...the blender did not work properly, so we had to purchase one to use for the week...we had to rotate laundry and showers as the hot water capacity did not seem to be adequate to handle both...the walkway from the pool to the ocean was sand drifted over, so I had to use the public beach access several blocks away...the trash cans were full when we got there, so we had to take them to the streets two nights just to make room for our trash...our beach rentals (chairs and umbrella was never right and the equipment we ultimately received was broken and rusty...if you take a nice home without related good service, to include maintenance and cleanliness, and combine a general non-responsiveness from the real estate office, especially from Thursday evening on, that fairly summarizes our experience. Very pretty recently redecorated house in super location. Close to good restaurants and super markets. Only downside...for the amount paid for the week would have thought there would have been internet access.

We had stayed in this home 2 years ago and lived it then but the upgrades made it perfect for us. I like having a cool place to park cars and a secure place for bikes that this home provides. Location is great and the beach is so accessible. Bedroom layout is great for kids that need parents close by and the place was immaculate. What a beautiful view and great place to have morning coffee in peace. We will be back!!!
