The condo was clean and comfortable. Great views of the ocean and a good view of the sunset from the back. All appliances were in good working order. The keyless entry was a bonus. The walk to the beach was short.
The only two disadvantages were that this third floor condo would not be conducive to having an elderly or handicapped tenant because there was no elevator. Also there was no Internet access-we had to bring our own hotspot.
All in all I would definitely stay at the Thau again!

This rental is a roomy comfortable home away from home. There is a huge beach after replenishment last year. The best ocean view in the complex!

The condo was big and beautiful but it needs some minor upgrades. We were unable to use the deck due to the infestation of mosquitoes and other bugs. The bug problem was so bad that my daughter was bitten by spidders that left huge welts on her.
Ligting was another problem. There were so many light bulbs burned out that we practically needed candles to see at the diningroom table. The bathrooms could use some ventilation. The outdoor steps are a hazard. The metal strips on the edges of them need to be replaced with something that is not slippery when wet.
Other than these few things, I would recommend staying here. Good location. Great Beach!

Overall the stay and the unit was a good one... I would recommend it to others. The only concern for those on the third floor is that there is no elevator, only stairs.
Resort Realty I would rate as a 3.0 out of 5. We ended up arriving much later than our check-in time, so per their instructions, we called two hours before the deadline, left three messages and never got a response of where to go to pick-up our keys. Arriving at midnight (with two young ones), we had to drive to the condo to find it was locked. Then we drove over to the Realty company, got out and walked around the property... ended up opening up a non-descript white box... and finally found our keys. The process was very frustrating; had we not found the keys, we would have to find a hotel that would take us in at 1 in the morning on Mem Day Sat night.
One positive note: when we arrived the aC was not working properly. It continued to get worse... upon calling Resort Realty's maintenance department, they came right away (w/in 1 hour), diagnosed the issue and then called an outside vendor (who also promptly arrived the same day) who fixed the issue.

The beds were as hard as a rock. We took the cushions off the couch and slept on the floor. Also, the one small television was hard for everyone to enjoy. The lack of televisions in the bedrooms added to our anxiety! Read more

We have come to OBX at least 15 seasons over close to 20 years. We love Nags Head. It is close to the sights on Ronoake Island and the drive up to Duck/Corolla for the day is convenient. The rental is an ideal size for the children and myself. Being oceanfront is great. I was sorry the winter storm beach damage resulted in no swimming pool any longer, since my youngest is deathly afraid of the ocean and the waves under any water conditions. I appreaciated the owner and realty being forthright about the pool situation in advance of our stay and making some accomodations for us.
The unit is in good condition and has been well maintained. Kitchen and bathrooms are nice. Furniture and carpet are clean. The air conditioning went out one afternoon and being on the third floor it got beastly hot. We had to stay inside the unit all day the following day waiting for the service to arrive. Opening the sliding glass doors on both ends of the unit created a wind tunnel which must be great during the spring and fall. Luckily the problem was easily fixed due to a bad wire. Also, the one TV in the unit is a bit dated (ie small) and there is no DVD player.

This home was in desperate need of attention and repair. We submitted a review at check out which detailed all of the problems with the condo and you should pull this out and read it also.
The flooring as we entered the condo was torn and peeling back. The refrigerator had holes in the interior walls. The drum of the clothes dryer had a large rust hole in it which meant that one of the "fins" was only partially connected. The wallpaper in the bathrooms was peeling. The master bedroom mattress was extremely uncomfortable. The spare bedroom patio slider did not lock. The living room slider was difficult to open. The patio furmiture was uncomfortable pvc chairs. This is just a few of the problems with the property. In seventeen years of visiting the Outer Banks, this was the worst rental experience that we have had.
The building was very nice and the pool was great. Other units seemed to be in good condition. We met one couple that rented another unit every year for a four week stay.
We were suprised to have received a 2010 rental catalog from you yesterday in the mail. It is obvious that the review that we turned in when we left in May was not read by anyone in your orginization. Based on our experience, we would not rent from you again and I doubt that we would recommend you to anyone. We came back to the Outer Banks in October and did not even consider contacting you for that visit.
Whenever a guest informs the Housekeeping or Maintenance Department of issues needing attention during their stay at a Resort Realty home-every effort is made to meet the needs of our guests. This is a spacious condo in a good location for the price!
Looking back at the work orders, the fridge was replaced due to the poor condition. Our maintenance records indicate a number of issues have been addressed. The drum in the dryer was fitted with a new fin. As far as the flooring coming up, the vinyl was replaced at the entrance. The patio slider in the living room was fitted with new rollers.
We sent maintenance to do another walk-through of the property. Upon entering, there was a musty smell. The upper level and mid level slider that had water intrusion has been treated . The company that had been contracted to extract the water had their equipment in the property for 4 days drying everything out. I have called them to go back out and see what needs to be done.
We always welcome calls from our guests and the opportunity to provide a timely resolution to requests.

I just wish there would have more TV's. The only one in the 19" with a VCR. No DVD or CD players, no stereo system. Other than lugging to the 3rd floor, its was nice. If they soon don't do some sandbagging at the pool, it will soon be in the ocean.

We loved the view and setup of the condo. It was perfect for us in that respect. Also, the initial rental over the phone was easy. But the condo needs re-decorating. The bathroom wallpaper was falling off and the walls had dirty marks on them (I don't want to imagine from what). There were no exhaust fans in the bathrooms and the steam may be what is removing the wallpaper. Why not just paint? The carpets were VERY dirty. I don't understand why the owner would even approve of the condition. Those 2 areas made the condo seem older and not up to scale. We had stayed in the nextdoor condo complex a previous year and it was in much better shape. But we liked the view and layout of this one better. The appliances were all nice & seemed new. We definitely want to go to Nags Head next September. Loved the vacation. Just wish the condo was in better shape. Let us know if this one gets updated. Thank you.
The rent was too high and they closed the pool early!

I've stayed in this condo for the last 9 years and always been happy. However the rent was raised $100 from 2008 to 2009. I chose to pay that, because this condo has a pool which is why I picked it in the first place. However, 2 days after I got there they closed the pool! It has always been open in September before this. When I called to complain I was told the rental company didn't even know it was happening, and when I said I wanted a refund of at least the $100 increase I was told no! I will never rent here again, and I won't rent from Resort Realty!!

The service by resort realty to arrange for the rental was fine. I'm very surprised that resort realty didn't do better screening of their property listing. The interior of this rental property is run down. The refrigerator had old cracks in its interior, insulation exposed. It was obvious from the extent of the cracking of the plastic that this was not new. The wallpaper in the guest bathroom was peeling off the wall. There were some holes in the wall around the windows and sliding glass doors where old curtain rods were removed. There was a large exposed area in the master bedroom closet where it appears the bathroom pipes were worked on...the blueboard was never replaced and the pipes were exposed. The condition of the mattresses were horrible. The twin beds went downhill as they were warped. My children were uncomfortable. You would have to do a walk through of this unit to appreciate my findings. All of this was reported to resort realty at time of check in so that we would not be blamed for any existing damage. I would not rent this property again and I will interview the listing property agent regarding interior condition prior to signing on. The ocean location and condo swimming pool were what we liked best. This unit needs to be updated as its location alone will not guarantee repeat customers.
Great location-shabby comfort

This condo is in a great location-near good restaurants and ocean front- but it has some drawbacks. There is no elevator so carrying groceries, children, or luggage up three floors is a chore-but good exercise. There is not a direct path to the pool or beach-you have to walk around the building via the parking lot. This particular condo is on the third floor and has a wonderful view and is very private. All the necessary items-dishwasher, washer/dryer etc- are available but there have probably been no updates in years-the wallpaper is peeling, the faucets are "cruddy" and one toilet had to be flushed by pulling the cap inside the tank-yuck. The decor is very 1980. There is no DVD player which we did not realize- so could not watch the movies we brought-so bring your own. We enjoyed our vacation because we are not really "fancy" but we would have preferred this same location but a bit more updated and better maintained condo.

We actually stayed at this unit twice. First in June of 2004 and again in July/August of 2006. It is a roomy unit and could be very nice. There were some problems which we addressed when we left. One that comes to mind was a broken chandelier over the table. One of the sockets was broken, so replacing a bulb was not the answer. It was interesting that when we returned the problem had not been corrected. The furniture, carpeting, etc. could be replaced. We returned to this unit because it was priced right. It is possible that some changes have been made since we rented here. In recent visits to the Outer Banks, the beach was eroding badly in this area.

This is a great property and the staff at Resort Realty couldn't have been nicer. The condo is on the 3rd floor overlooking the beach. If you don't feel like going down on the beach, the balcony is a fantastic place to hang out. The condo itself is very pleasant and fully equipped. Doesn't have a DVD player and you'll need to bring your own radio, but it has everything else (including an icemaker in the wetbar AND one in the refrigerator)
Nice kitchen, comfortable beds and two full baths (along with laundry facilities) round it all out. Back deck off the bedrooms even has a view of the bay in the distance.
We loved it enough that we're taking the same place this year too!
