Spectacular! This was the first time our extended family went on vacation together. The cottage had enough room so we didn't feel as if we were in each others pocket. Clean. Well decorated. Very homey. Loved the porches.

Extraordinary Beach Vacation!
Left on 08/11/2010 for a stay in August 2010 | Beach Lover
We loved the house, gazebo and especially the beach! The house was roomy and comfortable but we felt it could have been cleaner. There were used qutips on the floor and some of the rugs were very sandy. One of the showeres had a crack in the fiberglass and the smoke alarm went off several early mornings.
It was a very cool cottage though, and nicely furnished. Loved the big kitchen, dining area and the pavillion on the dunes made the house and our beach experience.

The Big Cottage was a great place to spend a week with our family. Our grown children and their spouses came from all different areas of the country. The cottage was clean and so comfortrable. It was a vacation enjoyed by all!

Very dirty rental home not worth the price

This home seemed "charming" when I viewed it online. It's very run down, and dirty. It's not worth the price, and we were very disappointed. Some old furniture caused injuries, sending one person to the hospital. Read more
Response from Resort Realty Outer Banks - 08/19/2010
Thank you for your response on Flip Key. We are very sorry you had some concerns and thank you for bringing them to our attention!
We pride ourselves in assuring homes are in proper working order and fit our guests needs. We did call you to see if we could replace the broken bed, while you were here on vacation, and you informed us you would not be using the bed and to please hold off until the weekend. We have taken care of the issues and again thank you for bringing them to our attention.
Thank you for booking your vacation with Resort Realty and we hope to see you again next year!
Needs an exterminator and serious upgrades.

Dealing with Resort Realty has been a wonderful experience. I do not like
that they do not accept American Express anymore, but other than that
everything has been ok.
We thought the "big" cottage was great for two families. We liked the fact
that it had 4 rooms up stairs. 2 rooms on the left and 2 rooms on the right.
All 4 rooms had jack and jill bathrooms! So it was very private. Also, another
room on the main level.
It was close to the beach and the location was great for shopping,
groceries. For the price we paid, we think the home should have better
quality TV's and beds!
Now the thing we MOST disliked...... ANTS ANTS ANTS EVERYWHERE!!!! It
was awful! There needs to be an exterminator or something. There were
crawling inside my sons baby bottles that were CLEAN!
We made the best of it, because we didn't want to ruin our vacation, but we
weren't too happy with this house besides the layout of the rooms, we did
not really have a very good experience!

The house was the perfect example of Old Nags Head charm. Because the character of the house was warm and inviting, we were able to overlook the dust that the years had allowed to accumulate. The beach was wonderful and the gazebo was the perfect place to watch dolphins and while away the hours in perfect relaxation. The kitchen was well stocked and the outside shower was better than most. We would definitely stay in The Big Cottage again!
