Don't get me wrong, it's a nice house with a lot of space for the price, but some things were just totally off and it made for a stressful wedding week. One of the reasons we wanted the house was for the master bedroom. It had a jacuzzi and I needed to relax that week prior to getting married. The jacuzzi jets had mold/mildew in them. I'm sorry, but I'm not about to spend my time scrubbig something that should have been cleaned when we arrived. There isn't any cleaning supplies available either and buying them for a one time use was not on my agenda. Also, most of the dishes were very unclean when we got there. I'm sure it's from the previous renters, but that is something that should be checked before another group comes. Nothing was very up to date either. All of the dishes were mismatched and looked like they have been in the house since 1970. Some were chipped and stained serverly. The pots and pans were extremely stained and new ones need to be bought. They also look like they were being used for the past 10 years or so. There were quite a few things that we were not provided with that we were not verbaly told to bring. The exterior was filthy with cigarrette butts and trash everywhere! The hot tub was leaking and green by midweek. Some of the ice makers were not working around the house. The location of the house was not what we expected either. Most of the main parts of this area are near kill devil hills. This house is very far from it. We got it thinking it was going to be closer to Manteo, where we were having our reception, but it's really not near anything (other than the water of course). The interior was decorated nice. Check in was very easy due to coded entry. Seaside Vac. did help us with a few requests that we called about and tried to accomodate for our issues,but again, being there for our wedding, we just couldn't call daily about everything wrong we were dealing with, and really, we shouldn't have to.

I have stayed in Sandalous one week for 12-14 years now. Best weather yet. A couple years ago, I wrote a letter stating my displeasure with the house. Seemed to be getting run down. This year, everything was great. New carpets, new furniture, new tv's. My family enjoyed the stay. We will do it again next year.

Working with Seaside was easy and seamless - very friendly and accomodating. The house was just - OK. We had a house full of adults only and a small dog. Not sure if the house was "average" due to the ability to have dogs on the property, but felt that the house was worn out a bit. The exterior was worse, toys, debris and trash on the property around the pool. Deck chairs, only half were able to be used - when you sat in the chairs you viewed the railing. The pool was closed, which we knew, the pool cover had a rip in it and was repaired with duct tape while we were there - the repair person left the spool of duct tape on the pool. Not that big of a deal, but again, just didn't impress us. I would not rent this property again.

We had a mini family reunion and this house really delivered. The bedrooms were nicely furnished and the the house had everything we needed. The beach was wonderful and the pool and hot tub were a great alternative when the you wanted to get out of the sand. We had a couple of maintance issues when we arrived, but Seaside Vacations were there the next day and everything was taken care of. No one wanted to leave and we can't wait to go back!

Seaside Vacations was easy to work with in setting up the rental week. Sandalous was well-thought out to accomodate a large group. Kitchen well-equipped, beds comfortable, good dining space. Had to call on pool, needed cleaning, backwash. Pool did not appear to be serviced prior to our arrival. Hot tub turned green mid-week - no chemical. Exterior grounds had trash from prior occupants (paper, beer cans, etc).Water leak in downstairs playroom reported early in week but no repair during our stay (we shut off water supply line). Electrical problem reported as some circuits not working. Seaside maintenance came through and electrician looked at problem. No resolution during our stay. Delapitated, unusable beach furniture on property should be removed.
The location, beach, view, and ease of doing nothing made our stay quite enjoyable and a good time was had by all 21 of us.Response from Seaside Vacations* - 08/31/2012

This beach home was light, airy, and spacious--comfortable with great views. The only complaints I had were: 1) that the upstairs refrigerator door had rust and was sprung, not sealing. Therefore the interior wasn't very cold, and it ran all the time; 2) also, the deck leading to the beach were covered by a sand dune, making it unusable and stairs difficult to navigate. Calls were made to the owner that went unanswered. 3) The towels that were supplied were very thin and small, and there were very few kitchen dish towels. Other than that, the home was clean and comfortable and a good time was had by all.

We all really enjoyed our stay at the Sandalous. The house was clean and well stocked with kitchen appliances, dishes, pots and pans. The two large dining tables were great for our large family. The young children enjoyed the separate baby pool within the swimming pool. The walk to the beach was easy but would have been easier if the stairways weren't covered with sand. Only thing lacking was literature regarding the wifi password and garbage collection. All in all I would definitely stay there again and recommend it for a relaxing stay in Nags Head!

Nice home and great location, however this house was in the worst condition of any home I have rented the last 11 years on the OBX. Mainly small stuff like rusting refrigerators, broken parts in the dish washer, damged tiles, light not working in the pool, cracked covers around the pool, damaged shut off valves on exterior shower/ foot wash... etc... Many small issues that you would not expect paying $9k for a weekly rental... all in the repairs would be around $1K. Still had a great time, construction vehicles / porta potty blocked our path to the beach all week due to a breakdown in the beach project but that didnt even bother us, we just walked around it but the home does need a handyman for a day. The house and pool areas were spotless when we checked in which was great as well.

Home is a somewhat dated and needs some general maintenance, paint and carpet. Caulking was needed around tub after we noticed water mark on ceiling. Terrible spitting shower heads, is that regulation? Service staff very attentive and polite. Grill was replaced after our 1st night. Hot tub and pool maintenance Mid week would be a good service.
Kitchen was well equipped, linen service with beds made was a nice treat after long day of travel. The beach conservation thankfully did not reach us but is a much bigger issue for renters than described. We need it, I'm for it, however, it is a very messy process for the beach and black water that remain during process. All in all a wonderful week. Everything was great except it took a day to get our hot tub cleaned and running again. The water had turned green on us, the pool company told us they were coming and never showed up until the next day. That made us lose a day of hot tub time.

Sandulous is a lovely house in a great location, but we were very disappointed in the condition of the house. The rugs were stained, the tubs were moldy, one shower door was falling off, a deck chair collapsed when sat on, there was trash all over the yard, the deck lights had fallen off, ceiling lights were burned out, baby equipment was broken and dangerous, the dryer took 2-3 cycles to dry, no dish towels, no toilet paper... The condition of this house was far below what we have experienced in past rentals in the same price range.

We had a great time at Sandalous. We have stayed here twice in the past and we did notice this time that maintenance does need done on the unit. The carpet and tiles need replaced. We have rented for next year and hope that the needed maintenance is done.

My husband and I stayed at Sandalous with our children, our parents, siblings, and their families. It was a great house with plenty of room for everyone! The view of the beach was fantastic from the 3rd floor living room and balony! Just beautiful! All the amenities were provided! The kids loved having a pool. We had our wedding on the beach and the reception was held at the house. We couldn't have asked for anything more perfect. The living room was nice enough to have had the wedding inside with a beautiful backdrop of the ocean if the weather had not cooperated (which we almost had to do!). Thanks for a wonderful week! Sandalous - 0818fantastic, except.....

the absolute only thing lacking about the home was the care taken with the sandy area between the home and the pool. There was trash and cigarettes butts. But the scarier thing was while I cleaned up this area I also found two large fish hooks. My grandchildren played in this area and could have been hurt very badly had I not policed this area prior to their arrival. I believe it should have been taken area of as part of the housekeeping. Other than that, everything else was perfect!! Thanks to Will and his staff.

freezer which was taken care of when we called. The major drawback was the
weather, which was rainy. Oh well, October is like that!

This is the third year we have rented this particular house. It has all of the amenities that makes a vacation in Nags Head (with a large party) enjoyable. Other than a few minor issues, everything was excellent. Should we visit Nags Head again, we will certainly be looking at this house again!

Went with wife and 15 month old daughter in 3rd week of October. Had absolute wonderful and relaxing time. Upstairs/main room is very big and comfortable, espcially for our baby girl to wander around on one floor as opposed to climbing stairs. Deck and access to beach, ocean and views was worth the price. Did not use pool or gas grill. Baby equipment was high chair and crib. Crib's mattress was too tough and baby didn't sleep thru night. No gate. House was nice and clean. Weather a little cool. Would go back in September, but probably up to Duck or Corolla. Nags Head a little too commercialized, e.g. 5 lane highway is main thoroughfare. Overall, we had a great time.

The view from the home and its being on the water made the whole trip. To enjoy coffee while watching the birds fly to some important place was relaxing. Add the shopping, dinning, the Wright Memorial, Roanoake Island, the lighthouses, small time golf, and you have a great place for family reunions.
I am sure you would agree that cleanliness is important. With the two dishwashers, the laundryroom, and the many bathrooms we stayed clean. The kitchen area with its two dinning tables made for a great place to visit. The game room made for a great place to watch college football and the playoffs without being bothered. Others were content to watch movies and the like in the main kitchen/dinning/family room area.
The kids enjoyed the hot tub.
Now for some possible improvements. Outside, the sand piled up from a recent storm and the complimentary beach furniture stacked up next to the house along with the BBQ should probably be either maintained or replaced. We did not use them, but it would be nice to look at nice stuff.
I think the landscape guy did not visit, and the weeds was not a big deal.
The maintenance personnel were great to work with. They took care of the nails.
If the house was perfect, it would not feel like home. I felt like I was at home without my tools and that was nice.

We hosted a small wedding at "Sandalous" for 30 people. The house was well-maintained, clean, well-furnished and decorated, with accomodating a large group in mind. Such amenities included 2 dishwashers, multiple sink and wet bar set ups, 2 refrigerators (on lowest and top levels), and essentially a bathroom for every bedroom (some shared access). The property was also pet-friendly, and allowed us to bring our 2 dogs (with a fee/dog). The house also had plenty of things to keep you occupied -- direct access to beach, hot tub, pool table, swimming pool. It was the perfect house for our recent event/vacation.

Stayed with your company plus at this location before. This time we arrived at 10:30 and to checked in. Not ready and I could understand. They said be ready around noon. Our other people started arriving and was told that would be ready in about an hour. This was around 12:30. Our guest were at Scandlous and from accross the street watched the cleaners outside in their car smoking and talking for hours while we waited to get in. Finally got access around 4. I fully understand check in times, etc., but this was a total shame. And after we went in,the house reeked of smoke. We always stay OBX every year, but will consider other companies for next Sept. rental. Thank you Bob Hohowski

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay this year! The house was clean and spacious, and it's close to shops and attractions. There's nothing better than being right on the beach!

Great house.
Can accommodate 4 families with all the comforts.
Our family members are from 70 to 4.
We all enjoyed it.
We stayed in the same house in 2006. Liked it so much we rented it again in 2008. -

This house was beautifully laid out and the groups favorite
rental yet! We loved the connecting decks and the large pool.
The hot tub was great as well. -

What a wonderful house and location. Loved watching the sun rise and walking the beach morning and evening. Everyone was happy with our vacation.
