      .what a wonderful trip!

Left on 11/14/2012 for a stay in October 2012

We had a wonderful time at the twisted fish. Everything was clean and welcoming. There was plenty of dishes and pots and pans. The home was beautiful and comfortable. It made us feel at home. We loved being close to the beach and the views were breathtaking. We loved being there and hated to leave. We had a hard time finding the broom and the electric canopener. Other than that it was wonderful! The Wilks Family

An outstanding place for our family reunion.

Left on 09/06/2012 for a stay in July 2012

The service was excellent and everyone (all 23 of us) liked the house very much. The amenities were quite satisfactory. Best of all it provided quite well for all of my family--10 adults and 13 children. On the "con" side though, it is expensive. Even so, my family would like to stay there again.

Wonderful place for a big family vacation

Left on 07/21/2012 for a stay in July 2012

Great property; overall in very good condition. The few problems (one toilet flushing issue) were rapidly addressed with friendly service. The location in the OBX is very convenient; fun things to do in many directions. The house itself was perfect for a big group that likes to eat and play games together - the two large dining area tables allowed for all 19 of us to hang out. Great pool and lovely beach area. We even had a sea turtle lay eggs on our area of beach and got to see the rescue group at work. Dolphins swimming by every morning was also a special treat.

Great property - poor maintenance - poor service

Left on 10/28/2011 for a stay in October 2011

Great property but has some problems that are being neglected. An older review mentioned torn screens (which are still torn) and leaks in the 2nd floor bedroom and the rec room when it rains.(also still not repaired). One of the torn screens is in the door on the main living area which is used to go out on the third floor deck. This means you can not leave that door open because of the flies. So you have an ocean breeze that you cannot enjoy. The whole screen is missing from the door in the 2nd floor bedroom, but the frame is still in place. One of my guests scraped her arm on this frame not realizing it was there. This is also one of the rooms that had a leak during the rainstorm. We had trash cans catching the water and towels soaking it off the floor. Part of the rug was soaked. Evidently from past reviews, these problems were known to the realtor and I assume the owner, but nothing was done.
Within 10 minutes of arriving, I was on the phone with the realtor. We were to have use of the heated pool but it had been closed for the season that morning. The realtor apologized and contacted the pool company. They were not able to come till the next afternoon, but asked us to put 2 hoses in the pool to start adding water. We checked in on Saturday (80 degree weather) and could not use the pool until Monday afternoon. It rained Wednesday and temps dropped to the 60's the rest of the week.
I called the realtor about the screen (told owner would be contacted - got no call back) and about the leak (told maintenance would be told - no call back). Realtor never stopped by or called back.

Having a two year old grandaughter who loves to swim, not having the pool available only a couple of days was very frustrating. Having owned a beach rental property, we know the wear and tear that takes place, but we never allowed it to affect our guests. Their concerns should be acknowledged and not ignored.

Response from Outer Banks Blue - 12/01/2011

      Outer Banks Blue

      Manager

      Dear ikmvld,
Thanks for taking the time to post this review. We apologize again for your discontent with Twisted Fish. As an owner of a rental property you know that some repairs are simple and others take time. The roof is being addressed by the homeowner and it is not an easily solved situation. The leaks that you experienced were not known previously, and caused by the recent hurricane. They are being taken care of.
As for the pool frankly the pool situaton should have never happened, and we again apologize. We also were unaware that you were looking for someone to personally come by the property to apologize to you regarding this situation. The pool vendor tried to rectify the issue as soon as possible.
We are glad that you had a great week of weather to enjoy this beautiful property and hope that you will experience a trouble free stay next time!
All the best from the beach!

Impacted by Irene - Still had fun...

Left on 10/23/2011 for a stay in August 2011

Fourth consecutive year we renter Twisted Fish, unfortunately it backed up t oHurricane Irene an her visit to the Outer Banks. our trip was delayed two days due to the post hurricane cleanup. The house did nott incur any real damage, just sand and wind damage. pool was sand filled and one of the hot tubs was unuasable for the same period. We spent some time hosing the rear of the house down and clearing the sand from the deck and walk to the beach. overall not a bad week, booked again for next year.

In Love with the Outer Banks

Left on 10/20/2011 for a stay in September 2011

I am always impressed with the Outer Banks. Our family enjoys being by the ocean. Every year we come there is something different about the beach. We get a house with a pool so if the ocean is too rough we can still swim.

House had great location but still had issues from Hurricane

Left on 10/20/2011 for a stay in September 2011

The house could have been cleaner. There were a number screens that were ripped out and needed replacing. Water was coming in the through the frame around the sliding Glass doors on the second floor bedroom and the ramps going out to the beach area were covered with over 2 feet of sand. this would not have been a problem, except we had one person in our party in a wheel chair. Unfortunately the bedroom that was leaking water was also the handicap bedroom, so we needed the bathroom for that room. Needless to say it was very disappointing to arrive to find water coming in one of the bedrooms and have to put towels down on the floor. Rental facility was aware of the leak. We dealt with it and did enjoy our week there, but that was very irritating. Outer banks blue was the rental facility, they sent someone out to look at it but did nothing to correct the situation.

Beautiful week and oceanfront was wonderful!

Left on 09/28/2011 for a stay in September 2011

The location and oceanfront view was wonderful. The keyless entry was great with not having to stop and check in. A lot of problems with 2nd floor toilet (the one shared by 3 rooms) kept stopping up. We called several times and plumber came once (snake not long enough) and never came back. The all TV reception was very bad, called twiced in which workorder had been turned in from previous week rentors and never fixed. All Tv's in entire house out, which after a good day at the beach, sometimes it is nice to unwide with kids for TV.

      Fabulous!

Left on 08/17/2011 for a stay in June 2011

This is the second time that my extended family has stayed at The Twisted Fish - once in 2007 and again in 2011. The home is decorated beautifully and offers many rainy day activities (tvs, games for kids and adults, a pool table). Our little ones really enjoyed the private pool! The kitchen easily accommodates family meals so that everyone can be together at those family reunions. We really appreciate the elevator and handicap facility as one of my brothers has has several strokes and is limited in movement. He was there both times and found the home to be perfect for the physically handicapped. It was great to see him getting around with his walker on his own. We did buy him a non-slip shower mat for his safety. We have already requested to be placed on a 2013 wait list. A fun time was had by all and everyone is looking forward to our return to the Twisted Fish.

Great Vacation Rental on the beach

Left on 05/31/2011 for a stay in April 2010

Beautiful 10 bedroom beachfront home in Nags Head. OuterBanks Blue was very easy to work with, and the Blue Ribbon check-in is a very convenient way to check in that does not require waiting in the long lines at the rental centers to pick up keys and paperwork. The heated pool was included in the weekly rental rate, another nice addition.

The value of this house in the spring time was exceptional, compared to the summer month rates, would recommend for anybody looking for a beachfront OBX rental

Wonderful, it couldn't have been better!

Left on 05/12/2011 for a stay in April 2011

Our family group consisted of senior adults, middle age adults and children ages 2 through 17. Twisted Fish was ideal for everyone in our family. The accomodations couldn't have been better and, as advertised there was plenty for all to enjoy.
I would highly recommend april as an ideal time for a vacation to the Outer Banks, although it wasn't really great swimming temperature it was wonderful for just about everything else! Walks on the beach, flying kites, and just enjoying ourselves.
I would also like to say a few words about the staff of Outer Banks Blue... when we arrived on Saturday, 4/9 there were a couple of problems. First of all I was paying extra for the pool to be open and heated, that was done but the pool cover and pool area were in a state of disarray. I called your office and can't believe how quickly someone arrived to fix the problem! We also had a missing portacrib (which we didn't need until Monday), once again I called the office, someone was sent to look for it and when it couldn't be found I was alerted that they would purchase one and deliver the next day. Once again the issue was handled promptly.
The only other problem was with TV reception... it was really bad and fuzzy. I finally called regarding this and had to wait 2 days for the cable company. But that's not unusual, I would experience the same thing at home.
You have a great staff and they are very responsive to the needs of rental families!
I did call after we returned to let you know (called amber Weaver) that one of the kids had sat on the "bridge" for the pool table and it was broken. I offered to pay for a replacement but have heard nothing. I still feel this should be our responsibility.

We made a lot of great memories!

Left on 09/17/2010 for a stay in August 2010

This was our first family reunion and our first time in the Outer Banks. Twisted Fish was large enough for everyone to have their own space and the view was magnificent! However, the traffic was horrendous! Family that had to travel by plane, had to deal with plane delays and ended up with the worse traffic jam of their lives! We only will consider returning to Twisted Fish and the Outer Banks for a Sunday to Sunday rental.

Great amenities, a terrific ocean view

Left on 08/09/2009 for a stay in July 2009

We enjoyed the cottage very much, which is why we renewed our reservation for next year! There were a few minor problems which were taken care of promptly. The only recommendations I would have is more master bedrooms and to have dvd and vhs capability in the bedrooms. Thanks for a great week at the beach. Bill Hudson

PS: One other factor---we normally rent from Sun-Sun and incurred a lot less traffic. So, it would help a lot if the rental were Sun-Sun, instead of Sat-Sat. Thanks again.

      Nice House w/plenty of extras

Left on 07/09/2009 for a stay in June 2009

The house was able to accomdate 26 with no problem. There are plenty of extra's to include dishes,DVD's/VHS tapes and beach toys. Flat Screen TV's throughout the house with surround sound which made time at the pool more enjoyable with the outside speakers. The house overall was very clean and there was easy access to the beach. The only problem I experienced was with the Gas Grill. The grill needs to be replaced, we had to work on the control knobs as they were rusted in place and finally got them working, but the overall condition of the grill is poor. All in all a good experience. Working with Outer Banks Blue Realty was also a good experience.
