Description from the owner
Tucked away in the fruit growing belt of the Kumaon Hills, in district Nainital (India), away from the hustle and bustle, lies a dreamy hamlet called Loshegani. It boasts of colorful terraced valley, interspersed with wild oak forests, and a panoramic view of the Himalayas. On a clear day, the view reaches up to the Kedarnath & Badrinath peaks to the west, to the Nepalese range in the east. Directly north tower the majestic Panchachuli peaks.
It is in this paradise, perched on a hilltop, at a vantage of 7000 ft above sea, with a 360* view of the surrounding hills and valleys, stands Villa Loshegani, a home away from home, crafted to hel...Read more

VancouverAway from the bustle that is India!!
Left on 09/13/2012 for a stay in August 2012
We are a family with three children. We chose this location as we wanted to show that there was more to India other than the bustle and madness that most traveller experience when visiting the tourist site of India.
The location is definitely far away and realistically it took us around 11 hours from Delhi including two short stops. The biggest issue is the quality of the roads and the lack of traffic rules which can make this journey longer that it should. Even if you make an early start you always hit some traffic along your route.
Once you know that this will be a long journey you just accept that as part of the requirement of visiting a mountain type location. This is the only reason why I knocked one star off, and again it is not the owner's fault that the roads are so poor.
The accommodation is very comfortable laid out in open space and is as close to the away it is advertised. Often professional pictures are taken which excludes the huge power station behind, however with Loshegani what you see in the pictures is what you get so all credit to the owners.
The accommodation is full board with very helpful staff to assist in the kitchen, and maintain the property. As the location is in a very small village access to fresh produce is limited and again the staff and the owners try as much as possible to provide you with everything you need for your stay. If you have a particular penchant for a specific dish then you need to either advise the owners beforehand or take it up with you when you travel.
We stayed for 4 nights and enjoyed every moment of our time.

A beautiful, cozy, perfectly appointed home in a spectacular location. We spent a lovely five days at the Villa Loshegani in May with our two small children (both under the age of 3). We still savor the memories of moments spent on the deck and by the lawns, enjoying the views and the tasty treats prepared by the wonderful staff. Very much hope to return!

We found what we were looking for - peace and privacy. All the modern amenities along with a very helpful staff made the stay extremely comfortable.
Water is a bit scarce. But the place being fair distance from the local towns is absolutely honest and unspolit. -

MumbaiOne of the most Blessed Stays
Left on 05/27/2011 for a stay in May 2011
Our stay at Villa Loshegani has been one of the most blessed stays in my entire life. ( Belive , i never tend to use extremes, but here i am helpless)
The Villa Loshegani is what it appears on the website. What the website doesnt convey is how homely one can feel in this house. The villa has a quaint feel to it yet it feels contemporary. The interiors have a very spring feel to it. It uses very english colours and the floral upholstery just liven up the whole feel of the house.
It has plenty of Sit outs with beautiful vistas.
The Hospitality is beyond what one can imagine. One feels a part of the house form the very first hour. Veeru and Pappu take care f your littlest needs and will even prepempt your needs before you have thoguht about it.
There are some beautful walks one can take in the surrounding Hills.
The time of the Year one must visit should be October to enjoy the finest views of the Himalayas.

Villa Loshegani is situated in a breathtaking location. The four of us who travelled together experienced how our souls drank deeply of the beauty, peace and quietness. A super beautiful place to relax. We enjoyed the many outdoor places to sit and read, relax and enjoy fellowship and the stunning beauty of the nature. The young men who served us made lovely meals and cared for us in every possible way. We couldn't have wished for more. The owner called us a few times just to ensure everything was okay. We felt so spoilt and cared for. We can warmly recommend you treat yourself to a stay at Villa Loshegani. We still talk about the wonderful days we spend there and they're a treasure in our hearts that will stay there forever and not loose value.

New DelhiA magical Stay
Left on 05/03/2011 for a stay in April 2011
A magical stay! Thank You. We had a great, lovely time at your beautiful place.
We could see your and anjali's passion in every small detail at Villa Loshegani, which added to our pleasure and made our experience very memorable. The lawns, flowers and the decks with stunning views of Himalaya's are just too spectacular for words. Your passion pores out from every minute detail. Truly inspiring!
Our stay in Villa Loshegani was very, very special; staff (Veeru & Pappu) very attentive, thoughtful, friendly, cheerful & helpful and food - first class. Your staff magically conjures up an array of fingerlickingly delicious food. They made us feel so welcome. An unforgettable experience!
We are even more inspired by the persons who have so painstakingly built this haven, i.e. you and anjali. We regret missing out on the pleasure of meeting you both, but we could see/feel your touch/presence in everything.
We wish you all the success with Villa Loshegani. May God bless this labour of love and passion and may you cherish it for long.
Look forward to next time - probably sooner than I would have thought!
Until next time.
Cheers,
Himani & Rohit Mahajan

Oxford, UKFantastic in all respects!
Left on 04/13/2011 for a stay in March 2011
We stayed in Villa Loshegani for 5 nights in March 2011 having found it during a search of the internet - we were looking for somewhere to rest up after several days walking with Shakti Himalayas in the almora region. We struck lucky!
The Villa is exactly as described in the owner's website. It is in a stunning position with magical and far-reaching views to the Himalayas, with terraces hills in the foreground and utter peace all around. The gardens are beautifully kept, the furnishings and appointments are of the highest quality and good taste, the home comforts are all there in abundance, and the staff are consistently kind, professional and helpful.
We were perhaps initially struggling with their limited English, but we soon overcame that. The food produced was excellent throughout, whether Indian or Western. There was nothing we lacked: the comfort of sunning ourselves on the loungers, following the World Cup cricket on TV, lazing by a log fire in the evenings or the chance to walk in the surrounding hills - either a serious 15 km hike with a local knowledgeable guide or an easy amble with one of the house staff up a nearby hill for even better views.
The owner - back in Delhi - was so very helpful in every way, sending us a comprehensive brief before our arrival, checking that we were alright, liaising with the staff and arranging local guides and a taxi to our train at Kathogam.
We are lucky to have traveled extensively in the world and to have stayed at some pretty amazing places. Villa Loshegani is as good as any and better than probably all private properties we have used: it is quite breathtaking and I have absolutely no hesitation whatsoever in recommending it to the most discerning traveller.

Left on 02/24/2011 for a stay in February 2011
The Villa is beautifully decorated making you feel cozy and warm like home. Waking up to the sight of the Himalayas was awesome. We especially enjoyed the peace and quiet which refreshed our spirits.
Be prepared to be spoiled by the cook. The food was tasty and varied. The service is quiet, unobtrusive, helpful and with a big smile.
We recommend 4 days or 3 nights minimum stay. That was our only regret was the short time we had. One of our not to be forgotten weekends. -

We stayed with my family for new year. After a long journey from Delhi you reach Villa Loshegani and feel in the same minute that you have made a great choice.
The place is a piece of paradise, surrounded by mountains, with blue sky and full of stars at night.
You can walk around, lay on the grass, have breakfast in the garden on a sunny day, sit next to the fire chimney at night or watch a movie from the owner's dvd collection.
The house is like the ones in magazines, beautiful decorated, caring each details, from curtains to the crockery.
The staff is very efficient, always doing their best to serve the guests; the cook can prepair indian and some western recipes.
Villa Loshegani is an unforgetable place and an excellent option to escape from the daily life in the city. -

A tad longish drive from Delhi (which actually is beautifully meandering once you hit the hills) culminates practically in the middle of nowhere at the base of a heavily manicured terraced hill which has as its tiara a house which seems so perfectly in place. It is made of materials drawn from the area itself in a unique mix of stone, wood and glass. The plateau surrounding the house has the advantages of a full contact with Nature, with the breeze, the mountainscape, the sound of the rustling trees and the appointed flowers contributing to a general feeling of well-being, isolation, an observer so to say of all that is unspoilt and heavenly on this earth. There is an extremely well-thought out decor in all the rooms with fireplaces, European sensibilities, well chosen furniture pieces to make the ambience truly picture-book like, but welcoming enough to make you want to flop on the sofa and partake of this rustic setting. The food offered was unmistakably imaginative, varied, wholesome and fresh. All rooms had heating arrangements, there was plenty of hot water (an experience that often mars many hill holidays in India) and a well-kept bar. There were some games to be played, internet was available and mobile phones worked ! There is plenty to see around in the vicinity, beautiful walks, drives, temples, and other tranquil postcard views. Our 3-night stay was superbly put together by our hosts who seemed to know exactly what we as a family with accompanying teenagers would find interest in. Kudos and hats off to the beautifully immaculate holiday experience in Ramgarh !

A beautiful house, a beautiful view, excellent arrangements, friendly staff. All you need to do is relax. Here’s how I did it.
Early morning:
It’s still dark but the eastern skyline is lighting up- the time to be out and about. Trek through the beautiful oak and rhododendron forests, scout for wildlife and breathe in the clean air. Walking along the narrow mountain paths we watched deer, wild boar, monkeys and a host of animals going about their business. The birdlife was splendid and I got some nice pictures for my collection.
Afternoon:
Back at the villa. The mission: find a nice little corner to read a book or catch a snooze after the early morning exercise. There were many places to choose from and I was spoilt for choice. “Do I relax on the hammock with a view of the snow peaks, or do I walk along the lawn and bake in the mountain sun, or both?!” These are not choices we get to make everyday. So when you have them, grab them!
Evening:
A full moon. A silvery haze. The wind picks up, as if to remind us plains-dwellers that we are under the purview of the Himalayas! A fireplace. A nice drink. A tasty smell emanating from the kitchen. Now is the time to make plans for the morrow. The choice of things to do, places to go to, experiences to fathom, is endless. Pick wisely, or stay longer. Either way, you’ll have fun.
Happy holidays.

A few words borrowed from the mogul Emperor sums up my
experience of `villa Loshegani. Perhaps he had not visited this area
(the Villa certainly was not in existence during his life) when he said
of Shrinagar "If there be a heaven on earth, it is here, it is here...
The view of the snow peaked Himalayas is totally breathtaking and
what is more, they are visible from three sides of the Villa. The
emerald green valleys and the woods are without parallel.
Peaceful, comfortable and beautiful is what it is.
The Villa itself is a masterly creation that blends with it's
surroundings. The beautifully designed and furnished
accommodation adds to ones comfort. The staff trained to pamper
you look after all your needs, be it gourmet food or anything else.
Last, but not the least, those seeking adventure can find any
number of trekking trails as well as guides. The variety of flora and
fauna can keep a naturalist busy for weeks.
I advise all who need a break from the hectic demands of todays
world, who want some peace and solitude as well as who are
interested in nature to take a trip. You may find it worth the time
and money spent. -

Sometimes in a vacation you just want time to be at
your command even if for a while. So when you visit
a place that offers it with a surrounding that you
love and we love the Himalayas , then it is a dream
destination. A typical place to be with your loved
ones or just by yourself be it for a weekend break
or a longer vacation. Time stops here…read, write,
paint,photograph,long walks, play monopoly, watch
movies, make your pasta and salad from freshly
picked ingredients. or simply do nothing but enjoy
the view of snowy peaks and valleys while enjoying
the hospitality and delicious homely cooked food.
The staff are not five star valets, but they are
simple, genuine and dedicated attending to you with
a smile.
Kudos to Anjali & Vijay for having done it up
cosily and tastefully, making it a comfortable home
away from home. Visited it a year back, and looking
forward to our next break this summer.
It is one of those places where you are simply at
peace with yourself and the world… That is the
magic there... -

The view from Villa Loshgani is one of the finest you
can find in the Himalayas - and I have traveled India
a lot. The Villa is a perfect piece of Tuscany in the
mountains with beautiful design, comfortable
furniture and fittings and tasteful interiors. You
get the benefits of great privacy with the
conveniences of shopping at a nearby town.
