We were greeted by a berry cake and a dozen farm fresh eggs! The house was peaceful, clean and comfortable. We enjoyed our stay. Our daughter loved the animals (thank you for the farm tour). Would recommend to anyone.

This is slightly delayed, but we had such a great time that I do want to share something even if late. We stayed with Shalene at the guesthouse in spring and had the most wonderful time. Shalene and her family are the great hosts. The farm is lovely. The dogs were super friendly and the cutest we've seen. It was a great opportunity to relax and enjoy the time with our friends in a beautiful surrounding. We'll definitely be visiting again if it's not all sold out!

The guest house was a wonderful retreat after our drive through the Rockies with our family. However, this was our first introduction to our new granddaughter. To have the guest house and to feel at home with the open & inviting atmosphere added to our stay. The house has a simple open concept, with numerous windows, it is a very warm, welcoming, and spacious living area; aside from a large socializing deck with the BBQ and deck furniture! The location is great, it was only a short distance to the larger locations and main highway to Victoria. I can't wait to return (for a longer duration next time!). The owners were very accommodating, friendly and kind. We could not have made our first family memories, with our first granddaughter more perfect.

Left on 09/23/2011 for a stay in September 2011
This was the perfect location for our island exploration which included Chemainus(25 minutes)& Tofino(3hrs).The house is very quiet and private but minutes to freeways and groceries. The guest house was spotless and owner Shaleen arrived with a fresh baked cake to welcome us. We were able to feed the farm animals & enjoyed throwing frisbees for 3 friendly border collies. The lamb and fresh eggs were the best we've ever tasted. It was wonderful to enjoy the expansive deck and bbq in the early mornings and evenings.Deck lights were wonderful to extend our evenings outdoors. The online pictures are very current. The open floor plan really allows for family activity. My 84 yr old Mom found the front entry and deck were easily accessable. The only thing we needed would be a longer stay. We would love to return for another visit.

The arbutus Guest House was wonderfully decorated, and the accomodations were beyond our expectations. The quaint, country setting was marvelous while still within minutes of Nanaimo. We could not have asked for a better host than Shalene. She made sure we had everything we needed including vegetables from her garden...delicious! The farm animals and the dogs were a nice treat. The Nanaimo River is just walking distance from the house. This place is perfect!

Left on 08/06/2011 for a stay in July 2011
I stayed at the arbutus Guest house with my father, brother and uncle.
The house is beautifully renovated and the beds were wonderfully
comfortable. Shalene and her friendly sheepdogs made us completely
welcome. We sampled fresh beef from the farm and relaxed on the front
porch with a nice barbecue. This is an idyllic setting with exemplary
accommodation and a gracious host. I would recommend it to anyone without reservation. -

Driving up it was cute, clean & inviting. Popping open the front/back door confirmed everything the outside suggested.
Kids came alive, collecting farm eggs, feeding animals, and exploring river banks and woodland trails around the property.
We relaxed in the Peace & Quiet that the land & home offers.
It's central on the island, to be able to travel all directions for day trips. Excellent access to Nanaimo & ferrys to mainland.
Hosts are open, flexible, approachable & child orientated.
Well worth taking time to travel, book early. If you compare with a motel/hotel on the road & what you get, in seconds you realise what good value for a family vacation this is. -

My family had a wonderful holiday in the ranch. The guest house has everything that we could need. Shalene was a great hostess and she made us feel at home. It was a good education for our two 5 year old girls too, they really enjoyed the farm animals. We even had the beef, lamb, and free-run eggs from the farm, the beef was the best I've ever had.

We had a wonderful stay at arbutus Guest House at White Rapids Ranch. The house is very spacious, clean, and newly remodeled. It was fun barbequing on the desk and watching the cows and sheep go about their day. The couple who run the ranch are fantastic and great to chat with; they make you feel at home on their ranch. I would highly recommend staying there.

Our weekend at White Rapids Guest House was so restful. Our hosts and all the farm creatures were very friendly! We enjoyed observing some of the "doings" on the ranch, buying some great meat to take home to our freezer and going for long restful walks in the lovely country side. The place was private, comfortable, immaculate and had everything we could need. Can't wait to go back!

We stayed at arbutus guest house last summer, then when we got married 15 march 11 we had our family stay there. Great service, wonderful quiet and beautiful surroundings. My granddaughter loves the farm animals. I dislike staying in hotels, this
feels like being at home. Thanks Shalene.

We have used the arbutus Guest House on several different occasions over the last couple of years. It's a great experience visiting a small working farm. Shalene has always gone out of her way to make sure all of our needs are met. We highly recommend the arbutus Guest House to anyone looking for a quiet and peaceful holiday stay.

Left on 03/18/2011 for a stay in August 2010
Our stay at arbutus Guest House was one of the highlights of our trip from australia to the West Coast of the USa & Canada. We needed to find a quiet oasis where we could relax, where Len could recover from an infected tooth and arbutus was perfect. Our hosts were warm, welcoming and fun, every facility was catered for, and there's more! As White Rapids ranch is a working farm we were able to dine on their delicious, tender meat, fresh farm eggs and even pick our own herbs and vegetables from the organic garden. Thanks Shalene for a wonderful experience - we hope to come back sooner rather than later.

Left on 03/17/2011 for a stay in August 2010
If you want a perfect place to relax and really de-stress, then this is the renal for you. Shaleen has this orignal farm house in perfect condition with everything you will need, even fresh vegetables and farm eggs and meat . Four adults were very comfortable in this cosy farm home for a week. The only sounds were the cows and the birds. The front deck we enjoyed comfortable seating and large gas bbq as we gazed at the summer sky and planned our sightseeing for the next day.
Totally stress free stay with very comfortable bes. A 5 min drive to major attractions. Our Boxer had the best time making friends with the llama and cows. Owner Shalene could not be nicer!

Left on 03/16/2011 for a stay in June 2010
Our party consisted of two adults, two seniors and two teens. We were all comfortable. Shalene made us feel very welcome but respected our privacy also. I would recommend her accommodation to anyone wishing to enjoy a comfortable home from home away from the limelight and noise. One thing to note is that transportation is essential and this abode cannot be reached without it. I will be back to enjoy the lovely hospitality. Chris :)
