Jacksonville, FloridaAlmost perfect, except...
Left on 02/28/2013 for a stay in March 2012
La Casita Bonita (LCB) is a small and charming home on a tree lined street in the heart of downtown Napa. Among the benefits of staying at LCB is it is an easy walk to several restaurants, tasting rooms and wonderful shops. The house is relatively comfortable with a large living area, ample kitchen and dining space and a back porch that is a wonderful site for morning coffee or evening happy hour. The house comes with it's very own chicken coop for fresh eggs in the morning as well as a lemon tree!
Lcb would be the perfect home away from home if the owner/management would attend to the following:
-As mentioned in another review, the doorknobs and locks on the doors need to be replaced. We also had trouble with the lock on the side entrance. And the front door knob came off in our hand and made the door inoperable. Thankfully, we didn't need to get out that door in an emergency situation.
-On our first day we tried to access the wireless internet connection so we could locate some wineries. When we were unable to connect we called the leasing agent and were told "gee, I had no problem", and said they would stop by later that day to help us. Help never came. We called again the next day and still no help. Five days and no help. Extremely inconvenient and annoying in this day and age.
-There is a lovely fireplace in the family room, but no tools (or firewood). Why?
-The 2nd bedroom is located on the front of the house facing the street. The curtains are not enough to provide the privacy that a bedroom requires. We were constantly having to readjust the curtains to get privacy. Blinds would be much better.
-In the guest bathroom, the shower head is very low making it impossible for a 6ft tall person to get underneath.
-Some minor issues: No pitcher in the kitchen. The main light over the vanity in the master bath was out. -

TexasPleasant stay...but a few issues
Left on 07/13/2012 for a stay in May 2012
I stayed w/ my mom and sisters for two nights in May. We appreciated the the architecture and overall cleanliness on the home. First off we had a lot of trouble w/ the lock on the side door (entering from driveway). We all tried it at some point or another and it needs to be replaced. Also, many of the old glass door knobs throughout the house, fall off when touched. We had rented an SUV and you should know that the driveway is very narrow and lined w/ shrubs - it's very hard to back out of the driveway or even pull in w/out scratching your vehicle if it's large. I would have parked in front of the house, but the neighbors just passed La Casita were parked in front of our house the whole time.
Other issue:
- there is a skylight in the master bedroom, so you better be ready to wake up w/ the sun
- no bath soap was provided and very few towels
- master bath shower needs a shower caddy/rack - had to put shampoo on the floor
- master bedding and pillows did not smell clean
- passes for a free tasting at Vintner's Collective was supposed to be provided, but
we didn't find them anywhere, so make sure you ask
Overall, we enjoyed our stay. The beds very comfortable and getting eggs from the chickens in the back yard was an adventure! -

60811Lovely home in the town of Napa for two couples.
Left on 11/30/2011 for a stay in September 2011
La Casita Bonita is a wonderful location from which to explore the town of Napa and the rest of the valley. The accommodations work perfectly for two couples. The house was comfortable, tastefully decorated and well-equipped. It has a private, back yard with mature trees and the nicest chicken coop you'll ever see, complete with three laying hens who deliver the goods every morning! The kitchen opens onto the back porch and makes a lovely place for morning coffee or evening wine.
We highly recommend that you take advantage of the owner's offer for a wine tasting at Vintner's Collective. We also recommend that you make that one of your first stops in your stay. The tasting at VC allowed us to get to know the smaller, 'boutique' vineyards and their wines so we could make better educated decisions about where to visit and what wines to buy for the rest of the trip.
Ps - Caution: I checked the box that says this property is suitable for "people with disabilities." That is true if you can handle three large steps into the house. Once inside, the house is one story and the back porch is flat off the kitchen.
