Permitted and licensed, The Highland House, a fully restored 1940's cottage, is located at 3 Highland Drive on the sunny side of Silverado Trail near the heart of Napa's revived Oxbow District. Within walking distance of the Highland House are many Zagat-rated restaurants, wine-tasting rooms, world class entertainment venues, art galleries, antique shops, museums and boutique shopping options.

Decorated with refreshed period furnishings, this home offers every amenity of comfort and convenience for enjoying the luxuries of Wine Country. Whether choosing to enjoy a good book or a great glass of wine, you will find the warmth of home at... The Highland House.

Each bedroom features queen-sized mattresses with Egyptian cotton sheets; a desk in one and a vanity dressing table in the other offer our guests the convenience of preparing for work or play. Complimentary toiletries, including facial wipes for make-up removal. are provided in the custom-tiled bath. The kitchen, featuring granite counters and Italian slate flooring, is fully equipped for conveniently preparing meals.

The bustling aorta of the Silverado Trail, and its bicycle path, flows north where numerous winery or dining choices, spas, and golfing are within minutes of The Highland House home base. The Oxbow Preserve, a new park developed along the Napa River, is a few yards south east of The Highland House's front steps. You will also be a short walk away from the redeveloped & revitalized downtown of Napa, our Napa River Trail and its waterfront, the famous Napa Valley Wine Train, the Oxbow Market tasting rooms and restaurants, and downtown activities such as Chef's Market, Farmer's Market, and the Wine & Crafts Fair, the Napa Valley Film Festival and various Music Festival events (BOTTLE ROCK FAN?) to name a few.

If you are a Food Network Fan, then you must be excited to know that the forum for great chefs in Napa is ever expanding. Morimoto's is open. With Michael Chiarello's Bottega earning points in Yountville, the choices continue to grow for "foodies". Can you imagine? We can also boast of many talented graduates from the Culinary Institute in St Helena contributing to the dining pleasure of valley guests.

With an average hotel room in the United States at 325 square feet, and the base cost for a room in the Napa Valley exceeding $225/night, the comparable space and price for The Highland House is a great option for a visit. In addition to having the common spaces to visit with family or friends, the full kitchen saves the traveler to splurge on our specialty restaurants and wineries, as preparing breakfast, lunch, picnics or happy hour snacks is convenient. Located on the corner of Highland Drive and Silverado Trail, The Highland House features convenient access to one of the main arteries that locals and tourists access to visit the downtown Napa features, to afford a quick turn north for golf, spas, wineries or restaurants, and a turn left to have access to south county routes for visiting Carneros or Sonoma venues. Airports(San Francisco, Oakland, or Sacramento) are 45 min-75 minutes from Napa. The Highland House as a home base, makes a good location for having the convenience of its location provide an easy hub from which to come and go as you enjoy the many options of the Wine Country experience. Very convenient if your party arranges a touring limo pick-up, too!

  Spotless and Comfortable Home Base

  Two friends and I had a marvelous reunion in Napa this fall, and chose the Highland House by price and photos. You cannot tell from the photos, however, that this property is kept to perfection. 3 middle-aged women traveling together can be pretty picky and all we could do is rave. Cooking breakfast and fixing picnic lunches can save hundreds of dollars on vacation and the kitchen in the Highland House is arranged to help with this. The lemon tree offered an alternative to having to buy vinegar, too! Napa is only 45 minutes from the Pacific and, with traffic, maybe 1.5 hrs from San Francisco, so we spent 3 days out of the Valley, preparing our luncheon feast the night before. We put the earliest riser in the group on the provided fold-out mattress on the floor in the living room each night. Chris did her part, making coffee in the provided coffee maker each morning. Note the word 'provided' runs through this review constantly. I cannot think of anything that wasn't provided!

  Nurtured Napa Nesting

  I first contacted Roseanne about her house one summer, preferring to stay in a residence than the downtown Napa hotel that I had utilized in previous trips. The experience formulated my outlook on vacation rentals, in a positive way. Inexperienced in this realm, I was naturally apprehensive about how well it would work out for my son and I, who were touring Napa for the second time together. Roseanne gave me a list of instructions along with a list of house rules. From the moment I arrived, everything that she promised was delivered, in spades. The house was immaculately clean, beautifully appointed with all the conveniences of home, and furnished with all kinds of items that a traveler might have forgotten to bring along. Beds were comfortable. The house was on a street abutting the somewhat well traveled Silverado Trail, but was surprisingly quiet. Everything she promised, was fulfilled. Likewise, I was happy to follow her reasonable guidelines for proper utilization and care of her facility. The house offers easy access to the Valley, via the Trail, but is also a few short minutes from Downtown Napa and all of its wonderful restaurants and attractions. This (wi-fi outfitted)two bedroom, one bath house is perfect for a couple or a moderately sized family. It is so much like home, that you will find yourself looking over your shoulder thinking you heard your mother calling. I highly recommend the house and dealing with Roseanne. She was so personable that we have since become friends, without ever having met in person. Great experience, lovely house and great lady!!

  Jon was the first guest that I considered contacting to offer a critique for review when introducing our property, The Highland House, to FlipKey. He is a well-traveled individual and had all the challenging questions and concerns when dipping his foot in the vacation rental waters. His thoughtful comments and positive experience are testament to the unique comforts that a home provides for those visiting our beautiful valley. The Oxbow Preserve River Trail has become accessible since Jon's last visit, and more high profile chefs have opened their doors, too.
