Adelaide, AustraliaLovely country cottage in Napier - just be sure you have a car &

Cedar cottage is a great cosy little find just a few kms out of Napier surrounded by farmlands and orchards (and even goats and sheep outside). Although fairly small it was very clean, modern and well-equipped and my group consisting of me, my husband & his parents (in their 60s) were extremely comfortable there and enjoyed having it as our retreat after a day of exploring the area. You do need a car tho! There is nowhere you can really walk to locally and no public transport I could see, and even the local "Cidery" required us all to draw straws for a designated driver when we visited.
Overall highly recommended for groups of 4 or less, I think any more than that it would feel very cramped. Also not sure if pets are allowed (as our dog stayed in australia, this time). My final tip is be forewarned about the mosquitoes and go armed with repellent spray, citronella candles and antihistamine! -

London, Ontario, CanadaFun for the family...lots of room inside and out

My husband and I along with our 2 adult daughters and our 10yr old grandaughter arrived Dec 25, 2012, afternoon. The cottage is spacious, very comfortable and very clean. But the cool thing was that just outside the front entrance was a fenced area with sheep and a goat "Lily"...now you can't get more New Zealand than that. To the other side of the cottage we were able to pick from the trees, oranges, apricots, peaches and apples. The whole experience was so inviting and fun for all of us. A wonderful home away from home, we loved NZ. Also so close to drive 5 minutes and get to Napier and the ocean.

We had 4 nights at Cedar cottage. It was peaceful and relaxing. Very hot temperatures in Hawkes Bay meant we were glad of the air conditioning. Animals nearby added to the rural charm but also meant flies. We left the sprayer on when we went out which helped.
It was a pleasant little home to come back to after a busy day exploring.Response from David Wells - 01/16/2013

Hi Elanor.
Thanks for your comments, we are very glad you enjoyed your stay at Cedar Cottage. We are experiencing weather in Hawksbay true to form..Unfortunately the flies are an added extra that nobody wants.
Have a good year.

This cottage exceeded all our expectations - it is a really well presented and well equipped cottage with modern bathroom and kitchen, and a nice lounge area.
It is great for kids, with a small fully enclosed garden for them to play in, but also free access to extensive orchards, where you can pick your own apples and feijoas (if you are there at the right time of year), and very centrally located for exploring Hawkes Bay.
We loved staying here and thought it offered great value for money.
Also loved the free (and reliable) wi-fi access.
