I don't know whether the rental agency or the unit owner is most to blame, probably both, but many things in the Flipkey listing were not true. The listing indicated oven, dishwasher, pool, washer/dryer, and ceiling fans. There was no dishwasher and no oven, only a toaster oven and microwave. No pool was in sight. There were no ceiling fans. The washer/dryer was not in the unit, but a shared one that cost $1.50 for each load in each machine. There were keys in the unit for the laundry room, but no indication of where it was. The rental company did not return a call when I called to ask where the washer/dryer were.
In the process of trying to reserve dates, the availability kept changing. At one point after being told by the agency that my preferred dates were not available, I then got an email saying the entire month was free and I could pick any 2 weeks. Next they called back after I made my selection and said the owner had just rented it unbeknownst to them, so again my dates were gone. The 'availability' calendar on Flipkey was never correct. Even after we had a signed agreement, it was showing our dates as open for over 3 weeks afterwards, so others were probably experiencing the same frustration we were.
Instead of a security deposit, which could be returned, they required an insurance policy, so no possibility of getting any money back.
The unit was clean, well lit, good location, and it had a comfortable sofa and recliner. It had a good supply of dishes, pots, and pans as well as linens. However, to me it was not worth the price. Screened in porch was small, bathroom exhaust fan did not work, and there was no stopper for the bath tub.
