Kinnelon, New JerseyGreat Getaway from the hustle and bustle of the atlantis
Left on 05/07/2013 for a stay in April 2013
I have to say that the Harborside is a beautiful resort. You get all of the perks of staying at the atlantis properties but you are far enough away from it. Transportation to the atlantis is frequent or you can take a 10 minute walk to get there. Check in was fast and courteous. I stayed in building #4. A lot of reviews say not to stay there but we found it convenient to the lobby, pool and transportation. It doesn't have a view but we were out all day anyway and had no time to sit on a balcony. The rooms are decorated nicely and have lots of space. However the carpets are filthy, the furniture is filthy, the beds are uncomfortable, the washing machine don't work well & there were rusty screws holding the soap dish in the shower. The carpets and floor were so dirty that after a shower our feet would be black just from walking around the room for a few minutes. Gross!!
The pool was beautiful and huge. There are plenty of lounge chairs and 2 life guards on duty. There is no music playing and the equipment such as shuffle board and pool table are all banged up. Don't expect to have a great game of pool because the sticks are broken, the balls have chunks missing out of them, the felt on the table is torn and the pockets have holes in them. There is a snack stand that has food and beverages. Don't expect to have poolside service because the employees are too busy sitting down and don't want to be bothered. They were pretty much out of everything too. I have 4 kids that wanted ice cream, hotdogs, and other snacks that are on the menu but not at the snack stand.
The Point restaurant is beautifully located over the water near the pool. The food was delicious and fresh. Once again lacking in service though. One day I went there with my family of 6 and asked to sit in the sun outside. There was a perfect table that had 6 seats and had some water on top because it must have rained the night before. The hostess told us we couldn't sit there because it will be a while before the table drys! Can you believe it! So she sat us under the canopy in the shade. When the waiter came over we asked him to move us and he gladly dried the table and sat us.
Btw all of the restaurants on the atlantis properties charge a 15% service charge. It doesn't matter if you bought a can of soda, an ice cream cone, or a sit down dinner. So obviously service was terrible because they already got their tip.
The atlantis is fun just don't bring anybody with you that is under 48 inches. My twins were not happy because they are 46" and couldn't go on 95% of the slides. It was very congested around the pool that is near the slides. Also the rapid lazy river is lots of fun and is exciting just down fall of your tube because you will be badly hurt. I know 1st hand.
The aquariums and grounds are amazing. We did the swim with the sea lion excursion and that was excellent!
All in all this resort is a good place to stay if you want to go to the atlantis and still have a private sanctuary away from all the craziness of the atlantis. -

If you are planning to visit atlantis, check out this great property to stay. It is the only property within atlantis that offers full condo amenities (other than reef for an extremely large amount). Atlantis is very expensive in terms of food and beverage. We saved a ton by eating breakfast in our unit (as full kitchen is available) and a few dinner (delivery from local restaurants). This is a time share, so you can find great deals on timeshare rental sites.
