'Selmunett' is a charming family run Homestay located on the edge of the village of Naxxar, which is more or less in the centre of the island. We have two en suite bedrooms. Our Garden and Parking area are for the sole use of our guests. The sea at St Paul's bay is a ten minute car drive away. The capital of Valetta is 15 minutes away; the airport and golf course are 20 minutes away. If Golf is your fancy, we can lend you a set of clubs. We strongly recommend that you hire a car for your time in Malta, and this can be arranged through us. Naxxar is located on the north east side of the island, more or less in the centre therefore making all historical sites, beaches, golf course, water sports easily accessable, ideally rental of a car would be recommended which we can assist you with. Selmunett in Naxxar provides the perfect answer for guests looking for a quiet central situation on Malta and outside the Valletta built-up sprawl but within 30 minutes of most locations including the airport and Valletta itself. The old capital of Mdina and adjacent Rabat are only 15 minutes away by car. Local shops and several restaurants are within easy walking distance. Roger, your host, is a helpful mine of information and produces a range of (cooked) breakfasts which include fresh fruits and are very good. These meals are usually served outside on a covered patio but a retreat into the kitchen is necessary if it is too cold or it rains.(It is worth noting that small mosquitoes will inevitably surprise the unprepared outside - room windows are protected by screens .)
As things currently stand, the swimming pool and immediate surroundings are not available for the use of guests after September and keen sunbathers/swimmers are therefore advised to check this situation when booking . That said, there is a large and quiet terrace overlooking the garden should you want to sit and read. Rooms are equipped with tea/coffee facilities, TV /radio and access to Wi-Fi but no in-room fridge -your host will willingly supply fresh milk in the mornings and afternoons on request. In fact, the secret of a stay at Selmunett is indeed not to be reticent in voicing your needs for things such as an extra pillow for the bed etc - it is expected. -

We enjoyed a pleasant stay at Selmunett in the Garden Suite located within a beautiful garden beside an orchard. The Garden Suite has also an integrated kitchen incl. a dish washer. Naxxar is a good basis to explore the beautiful island. We recommend to rent a car for this purpose and to use a navigation system. The very friendly Strickland family makes sure that you feel comfortable. If you wish, you can also book breakfast and other additional services.

Yesterday we came home from a 10-days stay at the Selmunett B&B; at Naxxar in Malta. We enjoyed every day very much: The warm welcome at the airport and driving us on a little sightseeing-tour by car to the B&B.; And there, everything was great: The gardens with all the not only different, but very special flowers, the pool, all the nice little things around. Maria and Roger are not only good hosts, but became good friends for the time of our stay. And the two friendly dogs and cats became our friends too! Roger showed us the house and the gardens and told us a lot of interesting and amusing stories. For breakfast, we chosed fortunately the English one, he set the table very carefully with candles and flowers. And then he managed to serve us a daily different cooked breakfast with a differently made egg. (excuse my bad English, I'm a swissgerman-speaking person...) Unnecessary to say, that our room and the house have been very clean and comofrtable. Every day we got fresh drinking water, a little present as we came and bigger ones as we left, and the room was made up every other day. Maria told us the secrets of the Maltese kitchen and a lot of other things about the life on this special island. I must stop now, otherwise one doesn't believe... Thank you, Maria and Roger!

We've just spent a week in the Garden Suite at Selmunett. It has everything one needs for a relaxing break including peace and quiet! Roger and Marie are delightful hosts, the dogs, cats and bunny give the place a really homely feel. A hire car is essential, both for sightseeing and finding restaurants as there is not much choice in Naxxar.

My husband and I got married on 6 June in Naxxar and picked the Selmunett Bed & Breakfast to spend our first night as a married couple. Neither of us expected such a fantastic experience. Roger and his wife Maria exceeded any expectation we could have had. We were made to feel so welcome. My husband got ready at the guest house before our wedding ceremony and was told by Roger not to mess up the room for me! Which I appreciated very much! Our room was beautifully decorated and very comfortable. On our return in the early hours we were pleasantly surprised to find a bottle of champagne outside our room. After a very comfortable nights sleep we spent a leisurely morning with Roger and Maria having breakfast which consisted of fresh fruit and olives from the garden, bacon & eggs, bread and lots of home made marmalades. Roger then gave me an 'educational tour' of the beautiful gardens which I could have happily spent all day in! The loveliest part of the morning was our gin & tonic on the patio with the whole family including the 2 gorgeous boxer dogs and Bruno the rabbit! We really had an amazing first night/day as a married couple and would highly recommend the Selmunett to anyone who would like a break. We will definitely be going back.

We stumbled across this perfect hidden gem through Flipkey and just loved our stay. A stunning Villa, where rooms are large, spotlessly clean and airy and a fabulous modern bathroom. As to the hospitality of our hosts Roger and Maria - they are welcoming and generous with their time and make you feel as if a home away from home. Nothing is too much trouble and Roger, a retired businessmen knows Malta at the back of his hand and is willing by special arrangement to be your own personal driver guide at a reasonable cost - or he can recommend special day trips for you to follow in your own hire car. Selmunett is a haven of culture and tranquility located very conveniently in the centre of the island and near to lots of things to see and do. Roger is a keen historian, with a huge knowledge of Malta's rich history, Maria is the perfect hostess. Breakfast is a special treat, outside when not too hot, and inside in a cool climate when it gets hot and steamy. Perfect holiday place, with five star Maltese hospitality.
