This apartment is a piece of living history in a great location.

Left on 01/19/2012 for a stay in October 2012

The apartment's link with the French Revolution was an attraction for us, but the excellent location was the real clincher. The apartment is small but our family of two adults and two teens had enough room, certainly more than if we were cramped into a hotel. The kitchen was adequate to prepare and cook food food bought at the nearby bakery and local shops. Everything worked, the internet was excellent and the instructions for the cable tv were thoughtfully written out for us.
The process of booking and arranging the keys was simple and they provided plenty of information about how to find the appartment when we arrived.
We enjoyed seeing and hearing the kids make their way to school in the building opposite each morning - but if you want to sleep in past 8 you might be annoyed by them.

      Paris at its best!

Left on 03/24/2011 for a stay in February 2011

Stayed in this cozy apartment with three other friends. We loved the location - everything was easy access - museums, metro, great restaurants. The apartment was the perfect size and fit all four of us comfortably.

Bathroom is a little on the small side but you aren't spending much time in there so does it really matter? Having access to a kitchen, stove and fridge was great for having breakfast and or lunch in house to save on money.

A location that can't be beat

Left on 02/05/2010 for a stay in January 2010

I can't imagine a better location for a Paris vacation. While the proximity to the Louvre and other museums is obviously a big plus, we really enjoyed being outside the main tourist orbit. The apartment is located within a pedestrian-only area with lots of good food shopping, including a big open-air market on Sunday. The Saint Eustache church (two blocks away) is a gem, with a remarkable pipe organ. My younger child also liked hanging out in the Les Halles park playground. And while we generally got around on foot, the subway is only a short walk away, and the station is a major hub, including a stop of the RER line that takes you straight into CDG airport. Perhaps the only disadvantage of the location is being directly across from a school, which gets noisy between classes -- and you can hear the first bell ring at ten minutes before eight in the morning.

The apartment is small but well-equipped -- my family of four found it quite comfortable. The kitchen in particular was much better than I expected, making it easy to eat in.

      Comfort and convenience

Left on 01/28/2010 for a stay in January 2010

We spent a week in the apartment at the beginning of January. Although Europe was in the middle of its coldest winter for many years and it snowed in Paris, the apartment was very warm and comfortable. We all particularly liked the beautiful stone wall in the salon.

The location was excellent, and as a result we did a lot of walking. We all loved the markets nearby and the opportunities for window shopping and people watching.

Our family of 2 adults and 2 children found the apartment spacious enough, though the layout was not as easy as others we have stayed in. The entrance was directly into the room the children slept in, and you also had to pass through this room to access the kitchen and bathroom. The kitchen, whilst adequate, was strictly a one chef affair-there was simply no room for a second person.

The shutters were temperamental, but we persevered as otherwise the apartment would have been rather cave-like. A minor maintenance issue I am sure, as is the continually running inlet pipe to the toilet cistern (wasteful and annoying)!

Vacations in Paris were, again, great to deal with and arrangements were so straightforward. It was terrific to get the keys in Australia before we left home, and about a month before we were to use the apartment.

Good Family Choice: Rue de la Jusienne Apartment

Left on 09/11/2009 for a stay in August 2009

For our family of four (2 children and 2 adults) this was a really good choice for accommodations. The best thing was the neighborhood (2nd arrond is great!) and being very central to everything, including the RER for transport to CDG! The living area was great for having breakfast before we set out for the day. Altho the kitchen and bath are small (typical in Europe) they were certainly adequate to meet our needs. The apartment was clean and had lots of character (it is a registered historic building). Having researched other Paris accommodations for four people, we felt we got very good value for our not-so-strong US dollar with this apartment. We'd recommend it for a family or small group who doesn't really care about high-end, sleek accommodations.

      Location! Location! Location!

Left on 05/24/2009 for a stay in March 2009

If you want to stay in an historic apartment in a non-touristy area, then this apartment is ideal. The location is excellent. A 15-minute walk will bring you to the Louvre and other attractions. A 5-minute walk will bring you to rue Montorguiel - a very Parisian pedestrian-only shopping street crammed with all sorts of food stores, cafes, and little grocery stores. There's a little Monop grocery store as well as two regular grocery stores on rue Montorgueil. There's also a lovely wine store, a cheese shop, a fishmonger, a Paul's boulangerie, several restaurants, Stohrer's, and many other stores. We found the food there to be so good that we usually ate at a place there or else, bought food and brought it back to our apartment to prepare.

The Sentier metro stop is very close by as is the Etienne Marcel metro stop. (You can use the Etienne Marcel stop to get to Gare du Nord which is where you can easily board the RER to get to/from the CDG airport.) There is also a post office right around the corner from this apartment.

The apartment itself was exactly as pictured. It was clean and the promised bottle of wine was waiting for us when we got there. Security was provided by a digicode door into the building, security screens over the windows, and a very strong iron bar on the door into the apartment. The kitchen, although tiny, had all the necessary items for preparing meals. Being located on a tiny, cobblestoned street, we enjoyed hearing the children and parents walk to school each morning, happily chattering away in French.

We had enough towels and never ran out of hot water when showering. I enjoyed preparing meals in the kitchen and was pleased to see that the kitchen came supplied with a few basics such as sugar, salt, pepper, olive oil, in the cabinets.

We loved the apartment and can't wait to return. Having the key before we left was reassuring. Our deposit was speedily returned. VIP was good to work with and we heartily recommend them.

      Great Location for the Price!

Left on 05/13/2009 for a stay in August 2008

My friend didn't recommend this particular property, but she did recommend Vacation in Paris as a company, and I completely agree. They were very helpful and we had no problems following their instructions to the property. It was our first time in Paris and the first time renting a vacation property like this, and it was a good experience.

This apartment was perfectly situated. We were able to walk to the market to buy fresh food and cook the little kitchen. No frills there, but functional! We walked easily to the Louvre and other attractions. We had two couples staying in the apartment, and luckily my parents didn't mind sleeping on the trundle bed. But in reality, this property is probably better suited to a single couple with kids. The bathroom was small but functional and the entire apartment was very clean. The lack of air conditioning wasn't too much of a problem as the apartment cooled off nicely with the windows open. It would have been nice to have internet access, but other than that, a great experience. We'd definitely work with Vacations in Paris again!

      Our Parisian Pad

Left on 05/12/2009 for a stay in December 2007

The location of the apartment is fantastic. Walk to most places of interest or catch the metro close by. Shopping is a delight with fresh foods available around the corner.
The apartment is warm and adequatly furnished, don't expect luxury at this price but who wants to stay inside when you are in Paris? You easily prepare your own meals as constant eating out is a trial on both the gastric juices and the wallet.
We love Paris. We plan to return and will use the apartment again. There was something about the total Paris/apartment deal which made it far, far more than the sum of its parts.
