Description from the owner

If you want to stay somewhere that's not your run-of-the-mill rental apartment and you enjoy great design and being in beautiful surroundings, this place is for you. We have worked hard to create a place that has all the flair of a hip hotel but with the comfort and ease of having your own apartment.

We are situated on the second floor of a small 300 year old building (no lift). The communal corridor has been sympathetically restored and the building is clean and quiet.

With 3.5m ceilings and large windows, it feels very spacious for it's 32sqm size. It has been decorated with a mix of antiques and modern convenience and luxury. T...Read more

Left on 05/14/2013 for a stay in May 2013

We came back to 48 Rue de Clery after a positive stay last year. We love the location and the apartment is well furnished and quiet. Maite, the local manager, is a gem; she is friendly, knowledgeable about the area (speaks great English) and is responsive to any needs or requests. We feel so comfortable in the apartment and the area that we hope to return a 3rd time. A perfect vacation home for 2 people who love the city.

Charming and quiet, fully equipped plus extras

Left on 05/03/2013 for a stay in April 2013

We loved our stay in this apartment and have no negative comments. Maite was wonderful from start to finish, very welcoming and willing to help with any questions about Paris. The apartment is quiet, especially in the bedroom, which we greatly appreciated, being light sleepers with an infant along. It was so nice to come back to an apartment to relax instead of a hotel room. The bed and sofa were comfortable, shower worked great, and nice to have wi/fi, laptop, and great stereo. We did not cook like we had planned because the neighborhood had so many convenient great restaurants. We had not stayed in this area before and really enjoyed it. We would absolutely stay here again and recommend to others.

      Inside Looking Out

Left on 03/31/2013 for a stay in March 2013

We could tell from pictures that the apartment was a charming blend of old and new but having never been into this section of town had no idea what to expect outside the walls...we hit the jackpot. This is a "neighborhood", not a tourist hub and we simply loved it! The shops down on Montorgueil are 1 minute outside the door and the tourist sites are all a comfortable walk through the most charming parts of Paris. Our only regret, we ran out of time. Maite does a wonderful job getting you into the apartment and comfortable with the appliances and more importantly, the shops and mass transit options near the apartment. She was the perfect start to this perfect stay Paris! As for our title...we felt like insiders...not outsiders, what a wonderful view...from the inside!

Wonderful place, everything you need for a homely holiday

Left on 01/23/2013 for a stay in January 2013

Maite was the manager of this appartment and what a wonderful person she was, she was was thorough in going thru the appartment and answering any questions we had about the area. The appartment is equipped with everything you need to cook some meals which we did, the bathroom was also fully equppied. We have our 3 year old boy with us and we were a 2min walk to Rue Montgureil which is an amazing street filled with cheese shops, bakeries, fruit shops, restaurants, everything you need to get into the spirit of Paris. I cannot recommend this place highly enough. There are plenty of Metro stations close by and about a 10 - 15 min to the Louvre. Thanks for a great place and would def come back again.

      Live Like a Parisien

Left on 09/12/2012 for a stay in September 2012

My girlfriend and I stayed here for our last leg of our Europe trip. It could not have been any better. The location was perfect as we were within walking distance to many shops and eateries. The apartment itself was suitable for the two of us. The washer and dryer was great to use after accumulating a weeks worth of dirty clothes. The dryer did not work as well compared to what we are used to in the states, but using the drying rack overnight did the trick.

Booking was a smooth process. Communication was top notch. Maite was fantastic as our host. She answered all questions and concerns through email and in person. She greeted us promptly upon arrival and departure. She gave us plenty of tips as to where to eat and an overview of the neighborhood.

Paris is a wonderful city, rich in culture and history. We probably would not have experienced Paris the same if we stayed at a hotel. This is our first time renting an apartment and it will not be our last. I would not hesitate to book this apartment again if we were to return to Paris.

      Cozy apartment in excellent location

Left on 08/22/2012 for a stay in August 2012

We recently stayed with our children, aged 7 and 10, and had a wonderful vacation. The apartment was in a great location right off of a pedestrian street full of shops. Every night on our way back from sightseeing, we picked up a baguette, some cheese, a bottle of wine and some salad to eat at the apartment. No one felt like eating out after walking in the city all day so it was perfect to have the apartment to come back to. The place itself was clean and comfortable. It is small, but certainly not smaller than a hotel room! Frankly, I thought the size was just right for our family. Maite was there to greet us when we arrived and quickly responded to all of our needs before and during our visit. I recommend this rental without hesitation.

      Fantastic Stay in Paris

Left on 07/24/2012 for a stay in July 2012

While the apartment was small - it was cozy and in the center of where we needed to be. The apartment was very clean, well stocked with essentials that were needed (towels, plates etec...) close to multiple metro stops and easy walk to restaurants, wine shops, bakeries and great cheese stores.

We were greeted by the property manager when we arrived at the apartment - it was nice to be greeted by her, she provided us with information about the area and made us feel so welcomed - the personal touch was really appreciated.

The apartment was in a quiet neighbourhood, which when travelling with a small child was very much desired. The neigbhours within the building were also very friendly and quick to help out when necessary (as was our case when trying to call for a taxi).

We would defintely stay at this apartment again - it was a great home away from home!

Lovely way to end our European holiday

Left on 06/05/2012 for a stay in May 2012

Staying at Rue de Clery was a lovely way to end our European adventure.

The apartment is light, airy and clean, with high ceilings, that make it feel larger than it actually is. The owners have also made clever use of all available space.

We felt that the owners had put a lot of time and effort into setting up the apartment. They have left lots of thoughtful extras, like bodywash, herbs, spices, oil, kitchen wraps and extensive lists of restaurant recommendations. It made us feel, as if we were in our own home.

Finally, the lovely Maite, who explained everything, from start to finish, on the apartment. She was so easy to work with, when organising arrival and departure times. Deposit was also returned very promptly.

      Fantastic !!

Left on 05/23/2012 for a stay in May 2012

No nasty surprises. The apartment was everything we expected it to be and as described in the website.

Fantastic location. Clean and had everything we needed including the very helpful concierge, Maite. We arrived late on a bank holiday but she was still happy to show us around and give us lots of local information.

We were in the apartment with two children and although the apartment is small I am sure it is average by Paris standards and was more than sufficient for us as we were out most of the time exploring Paris and eating great food - much of which was available on the doorstep.

The best thing about the apartment is its location. You are within 10-15 minutes walk from most of the main attractions. Despite the fact that we had young children with us we were able to get around on foot most of the time.

Have already recommended the apartment to a number of friends and we will definitely be staying there again next time we are in Paris.

      Couldn't wish for anything better

Left on 01/16/2012 for a stay in December 2011

This apartment is ideally located, within walking distance of metro, markets, Louvre, Notre Dame etc. It's up two small flights of stairs (no lift) on a quiet side street, just a minute or so's walk from Metro Sentier. We stayed over the New Year for 8 nights and I wish it was possible to stay longer because the apartment was so French and so cute. The apartment is extremely well-equipped, with a charming 'concierge' (meet 'n greet) called Maite who showed us how everything worked in the apartment (never got the hang of the washing machine in dryer mode) and there was ample equipment for any style of cooking. The bed was large and very comfortable, as were the pillows, with plenty of storage space in the cupboards and a very efficient shower/ensuite (spearate loo). The underfloor heating was excellent and easy to adjust. We made use of the free landline phone call to australia once and the free internet was a boon for Facetime home. There are at least two supermarkets within a couple of minutes from the apartment (but check the cupboards before buying provisions as there may already be what you need left from other visitors - pls enjoy the olive oil and balsamic vinegar I rushed to buy before checking!!) and many bottle shops for some excellent wines down Marche Montorgeuil (where you'll find plenty of lovely restaurants so don't cook, go out!).
I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this apartment to a couple but for more people, using the sofa bed may make the apartment squeezy.
Try Maison de Collet in Marche Montorgeuil for patisseries - they're irresistable!
Paying for the apartment, picking up the key, final check-out etc. was easy and efficient.

Doesn't get any better than this

Left on 12/25/2011 for a stay in December 2011

My husband and I searched for a while to find the perfect accomodation in a great location to ensure our trip to Paris was as perfect as possible. That place was Rue de Clery. In addition to being centrally located (i.e. walk to Notre Dame, Louvre, Boulevard Haussman, etc), the apartment itself feels warm and welcoming - like home and not a commercial apartment. The fitting and furnishings are top notch. We were quite impressed with every aspect of the apartment. The apartment has a number of leaflets and written recommendations in the "Share book" with stories from former customers - a really nice touch to get to know the area personally.

Even the smallest details, such as cooking pots, are outstanding. We made a curry in a pot which didn't leave any hard to scrub remnants. Anyone who has ever cooked a curry knows how the curry sticks to the bottom of pans!

There are a number of books on Paris and things to do which is great in planning your day. The free Macbook and internet is also quite handy.

The clothes washing machine and dryer is a huge convenience as is the heated flooring in winter.

There are at least two supermarkets closeby for supplies and close to the metro as well (although we preferred walking - a much better way to "feel" Paris).

Looking forward to staying there again soon!

P.S. Maite is outstanding and we even got a farewell gift of yummy cookies!

Fablous find, made our trip to Paris.

Left on 08/16/2011 for a stay in July 2011

I wish we had stayed longer! From the moment we arrived, the concierge met us and made us feel so welcome and gave us some wonderful information on the area. We were travelling with two children (8 and 11) who happily shared the fold out bed. The apartment is not big (but we knew that when booking) but given we were out from 8am until 8pm each day it was just fine and made my children appreciate what space they have at home. It was warm, clean and well furnished with all the mod cons. Having a washing machine and dryer was a godsend as we had a bit of rain (in fact we went on a 4 hour bike tour of Paris in horizontal rain, in our sailing wet weathers - but had a ball!). We ate in some of the restaurants around the corner which we just loved. We felt like we were part of day to day Paris life rather than tourists. Very convenient to train services (easy train travel direct to Euro Disneyland). Loved the use of polished concrete! Would stay again.

We loved staying at Rue de Clery. The concierge was very attentive to our needs when problems arose - and very concerned to make sure that we were happy. Very glad she was so accessible. The apt location is great - walking distance to Le Marais (our favorite locale) and all the great museums. The suite is contemporary and spacious. Very comfortable and tastefully decorated-with all the amenities. We would definitely return.

      Could stand improvement

Left on 05/31/2011 for a stay in May 2011

The apartment on Rue de Clery was conveniently located both for our touring activities and for the day to day needs of shopping and eating out.

It seemed pretty clear that the apartment has had hard use and that maintenance has been neglected. We discovered this when the drain in the shower clogged, and we found a stream of water running through the bedroom and out into the hall. This wasn't as disastrous as it sounds, but our idea of a fun vacation doesn't include mopping the floor - especially when no bucket or wringer are provided.

The apartment is pretty cramped. The double bed is set so that one person has to climb over the bed - or the other person - to get into or out of bed. There's one fairly uncomfortable couch in the living area, plus a nice dining table. Just beware that you don't sit at the end of the benches at the dining table lest they flip up and you wind up on the floor.

The apartment is well equipped with appliances and conveniences, but the owners need to pay more attention to "the basics" to make it a good value and a good place to stay.

      Dear Steve and Anne,

We are truly sorry to hear your remarks. In almost 2 years of renting this is our first negative comment so we take your feedback very seriously and will use it to improve what we can.

About the shower problem, it is a shame that you did not call us about this. We would have been happy to send someone around to help you the moment it happened and give you a bottle of champagne for your trouble. As we were in contact over some questions you had during your stay, we are surprised that you did not mention it.

The overflow was due to a filter that gets emptied after each guest which our new cleaner had neglected to empty before your arrival. It has been rectified now and will not happen again. We are very sorry you had to suffer the consequences of this oversight.

As to your other comments, yes the apartment is small by American standards (by Paris standards it is quite normal). We make no secret of this and give the exact sq footage in our property description so we are sorry that it did not meet your expectations.

The slightly unbalanced benches we can't do anything about. This is rustic, antique, French-countryside furniture. We believe the imperfections are part of the charm!

Again, we are sorry that you were not happy with your stay and as a gesture we would like to offer you a discounted rate if you decide to give us another chance in the future.

      Kind regards,

      Kate, Patrick and Maité

Very glad we chose this place - it lives up to its publicity.
It's clean and modern, recently refurbished, great for two people. (Would be a bit squeezy for four.) The bed is very comfortable and the bedroom faces onto a courtyard so it's quiet for sleeping.
The location is perfect - close in to the sights but not a touristy area. It was great to be able to stroll 2 mins to Rue Montorgueil for dinner or food shopping - heavenly cheeses and fresh fruit & veg. Lots of Metro and Velib stations within easy reach. Interesting just to stroll around window-shopping as it's a rag trade area. Great shopping for gifts in Passage Jouffroy off the Grands Boulevards.
The concierge Maite was lovely and most helpful.

It really is walking distance to the best of Paris.

      Great Paris apartment

Left on 04/05/2011 for a stay in March 2011

We (2 adults and a teenager) stayed 4 nights at Rue de Clery and would have loved to have statyed longer. The apartment, which is on the third floor, has been completely and very tastefully renovated. We found it to be well appointed, very conveniently located, clean and comfortable. We would not hesitate to recommend it to a couple, or family of 4. Maite was at the apartment to greet us on arrival from the airport. She was very helpful in giving us a quick overview and helping us get our bearings. They provide a very helpful reference book with instruction for appliances, tips on local dining, etc. and photos and a write-up on the renovation. We used it several times. The wifi was great and the phone with free calling to north america (and elsewhere) was a real bonus.

The apartment is on a relatively quiet street (by Parisian standards), although there is still a morning/evening hussle and bussle of locals on their way to work/home. There is a great walking street nearby (Marche Montorueil), which has many restaurants, pastry shops, bakeries, cheese shops, small grocery stores and even a Starbucks. Like everywhere in Paris, there is a metro stop nearby (2 minute walk - right at the start of Marche Montorueil). The metro is insanely efficient and cheap once you figure it out. We walked to Notre Dame and the Louvre both 15-20 minutes away and a pleasant walk.

We really enjoyed our short stay in Paris and hope to return for a longer stay someday. We would definitely stay at Kate and Patrick's Rue de Clery apartment again. It was a perfect homebase in Paris. It exceeded our expectations.

      Wonderful apartment in every way

Left on 03/24/2011 for a stay in March 2011

We were lucky enough to stay here during a vacation to Paris and found everything to be wonderful. The apartment has everything you could want and the location couldn't be better. We were right in the center of great shops and restaurants and had easy access to the metro. We would absolutely recommend this apartment to friends and family and hope to return to it ourselves.

Great place - consider even if it's a bit above your budget

Left on 01/04/2011 for a stay in December 2011

      - Location: excellent. Walking distance (<30 mins) to main sites. Lots of metro stations close by.

      - Size: small but standard for Paris: bedroom, living, toilet, bath. Tight for 4, perfect for 2.

      - Unusual features that are great: under floor heating; no bath, but the shower is amazing - lots of water; the apartment is v stylishly furnished as though it was a lived in home - power converters, laptop, free calls , TV with a lot of channels (most are French; English means news and music channels only), stereo with ipod doc, guide book.

      - Price: check the apartment website as there is a sliding scale depending on length of stay plus a Eur50 charge > 1830 arrivals. Expensive relative to 3* hotel but you get what you pay for, and it's a nice to get a genuine experience of inner city life in Paris. If you don't intend to eat out in Paris, you will save money .

      - The owners: you deal direct when booking and a concierge meets you at the flat for check in/out. Both are very friendly and accommodating.

Great place away from tourists. The radiant floor heating and the large shower makes this an ideal place to stay, not to mention the full kitchen. The location is fantastic, near many places to eat and shop.

We will be back to Rue de Clery! Love this place!

Left on 11/25/2010 for a stay in November 2010

Just returned home from staying 10 days at this apt. in Paris and it was an absolutely perfect stay. The apt. is in a great location and we could walk to all major museums, metro stops, and RER station Chatalet de Halle is a 3 block walk to the apt. so we took the RER B train from Charles de Gaulle airport which costs about 8 Euros a person, this was super easy, and we walked with our luggage to the apt. Rue Montorgueil is right around the corner and is a gourmet food street with the best patisseries, fromageries, grocery stores, and wine shops, you can pick up cheese, wine, baguettes, rotisserie chickens, and charcuterie to take back and enjoy at the apt. There are also great cafes and bistros on this pedestrian only street. The apt. is clean, modern, and has heated floors which was nice in the cold weather, a rain shower, and all new appliances. The bed was awesome and we slept in every day, nice cotton sheets and down duvets. The in unit washer/dryer and dishwasher was handy. The owners and the concierge who manage the property are lovely and highly professional, our advance payment, check in and out was seamless, also our security deposit through PayPal was returned the day we checked out. We had a fabulous time, and will be back - hoping to make this an annual trip, and would not dream of staying any other place! Thank you for a perfect stay at Rue de Clery.

Wonderfully Decorated Space close to some great areas

Left on 11/19/2010 for a stay in October 2010

First of all, everyone we worked with were very nice and super helpful.

Secondly, the apartment was stylish, modern, and unique! Both my wife and I appreciated the little touches such as the use of a mac book, chocolates on arrival, and the thoughtfully designed use of space with creative art and furniture.

Probably the most important feature is the location. It was very close to some wonderful local shopping streets with open air markets. Additionally, it is a short walk or subway ride to the Marais, the 11th arr., or any of the tourist areas. Some of the top and trendiest restaurants in Paris (such as Frenchie) are within a short walking distance.

      I'd recommend staying here!

Not much to look at from the street, but inside is quite nice - attractive, clean, comfortable, quiet. Great location, just a short walk from Montorgueil. Owner and concierge both very friendly, with good communication. Certainly plan to return.

Loved it! Such a stylish and comfortable apartment to stay in - truly Parisian with all the chic. The location was amazing with everything right on your doorstep - only a stone's throw from one of the best food streets in Paris - so had the buzz without the noise. Wouldn't stay anywhere else!!

Lovely home from home in the heart of Paris for family of 5

Left on 09/02/2010 for a stay in August 2010

This lovely one-bedrooom appartment provided a very comfortable summer holiday home for a family of 5 (2 adults and 3 children aged 8, 4 and 4). We were struggling to find a one bedroom flat that could take a family of 5 but owners, Kate and Patrick, kindly agreed. It's presented as accomodation for 4 adults but we were very comfortable. The sturdy sofabed in kitchen-diner area provided good sleeping accomodation for the children, and the kitchen facilities were great - allowing us to eat-in with ease. There's no bath but the shower is fantastic and Kate & Patrick also supplied lovely toileteries. Arrangements to enter and leave the appartment were very straight forward facilitated by excellent concierge staff who were there ahead of time to meet us. Kate and Patrick have an excellent website about the appartment and were very careful and kind hosts - even supplying details of local parks where we could take the children. It's centrally located - a short walk from Sentier station, near St Eustache church and the Pompidou Centre. Well positioned for other metro stations and buses too. There was also a wide choice of restaurants, supermarkets and bakeries nearby. Cinema-goers will love the art-deco movie house about 5 minutes away on foot. Definitely top of my list for a return visit to Paris.

      Great Stay in Paris

Left on 08/11/2010 for a stay in August 2010

We've been in a Paris a number of times over the past 20 years and every time we tried a different option to find the perfect stay. We've finally done it! This apartment was perfect for our family of 4 (it's not huge, but it is far more comfortable in size than a hotel room). It is tastefully decorated with all the necessary amenities - even a mini-dishwasher! The linen and towels were as new, wi-fi access a bonus and hi-fi a treat. The location is great, close to metro-stations, several shopping streets with supermarket and really nice restaurants and bistros closeby. It is within walking distance of major sites (it's not around the corner but we had a great walk with young children to the Louvre and even further beyond every day). This was our best stay yet in Paris!

      A gem in Paris

Left on 06/27/2010 for a stay in June 2010

It would be a first trip to Paris, and we had been scouring the internet for quite a while to find a hotel accommodation for 4 adults that presented great value but to no avail. Thankfully, just as we were about to give up, we stumbled upon Rue De Clery.

Looking at the pictures posted on the net, we knew we wanted to stay but were hesitant to put down the necessary deposit. However on hindsight, our hesitation was unfounded. We are delighted to have decided to stay at Rue De Clery which I would best describe as a gem of a find.

Maite, the conceirge met us when we arrived and she was very helpful in showing us around the apartment and oriented us on the general location - which couldn't be better which other reviewers have already touched upon =)

We certainly enjoyed our stay in Paris, and we looked forward to returning to the lovely apartment after each day of sight-seeing. We loved what Kate and Patrick have done to the apartment in terms of the furnishings which are beautiful and functional - from Antique tables to classy ceiling lights.  Both the beds (One in the bedroom and the other a sofa-bed) were very comfortable;  we appreciated the washing-machine cum spin-dryer alot; the music system was also great for piping cool lounge music from an iphone while we lazed around in the evenings. I personally liked browsing a coffee table book on Paris which put historical context to the places we saw.

All in all, we had a good experience and will certainly recommend this vacation home to anyone who would be visiting Paris.

We are most certainly delighted to have made the choice to stay at this Rue De Clery apartment and look forward to coming back should we be coming around to Paris again.

Just as perfect as the pictures!

Left on 05/31/2010 for a stay in May 2010

My husband and I booked this flat for a week at the last minute after our first trip was cancelled due to the volcano. The owner of the flat, Kate and Patrick were very helpful with our questions and hold our dates until I could figure out how to use Paypal! The concierge service was wonderful, Maite was waiting at the flat when we arrived and showed us where everything was and was available if we had any questions. The flat is exactly as it is in the pictures and all the amenities they have listed on their website are available (unlike other flats I've rented.) They have a stove, oven, fridge, freezer, washer/dryer, flat screen tv, cable, a laptop with its own wireless network, and free calls to the us. It was lovely to check our email and call our parents at the end of the night or see what what european television is like. What was most helpful was a booklet Kate and Patrick made up that listed everything in the flat and a step by step on how to use it. They even had a listing of their favorite wine stores and places to eat which was very helpful for us, we tried 'Les Petit Carreaux' my husband said it was the best food he ate while in Paris and we ended up eating there twice.
All in all we loved this apartment and it is the perfect for a romantic time for two. The flat is about 5 minutes from Rue Montorgueil a beautiful market street area that I have known from previous trips and really gives you a feel for Parisian living. Down this street you can pick up your dinner, some flowers, and wine on the way home which is exactly what we did. They have everything you need on this street from cheese stores to tiny supermarkets and everything inbetween. The flat is even closer to the Sentier metro station which is just at the end of the street. My husband and I have a wonderful time and we would stay at this apartment again in a second.

A cozy oasis in the heart of bustling Paris

Left on 05/09/2010 for a stay in May 2010

Staying in this perfectly-appointed apartment made us feel like we were living in Paris, not just visiting. And in a city meant for walking, the apartment put the most appealing parts of the city well within walking distance. Numerous nearby food shops provided still-warm croissants for breakfast in the morning; or cheese, pate and a baguette for an afternoon picnic along the Seine. There are also restaurants of every ilk close at hand. Though our flight was two hours late we were met at the apartment by an extremely friendly, knowledgeable concierge who showed us around the apartment and provided some great tips on things to do while in Paris. When we were set to leave she arranged a taxi to the airport for us. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and can't wait to return. We highly recommend this sensational apartment.
