Burlingame, CAParadise!
Left on 02/08/2013 for a stay in May 2012
We (family of 4, two teenaged boys) enjoyed a week in the Mill House on the spacious property of this Chateau. The ancient stone buildings have been authentically restored and updated with all modern conveniences. All the rooms are lovely and comfortable, and beautifully decorated with antiques.
The nearby village (5 - 10 min drive) has an excellent green grocer, fish market, butcher, several bakeries and a wine shop. We enjoyed preparing meals on the grill and in the spacious kitchen.
Madame and Monsieur are as charming as their home. They gave us a tour of the chateau and explained the extensive restoration process. They are master artists and it is obvious this project is a work of the heart.
We spent one afternoon hiking in the adjacent park and made day-trips to the D-Day Beaches, Mont St Michel and Bayeux. This location is ideal for exploring the many historic sites on the Cotentin Peninsula and in Basse-Normandie.
Several farm animals and birds enhanced our visit. One of our favorite memories is of walking along the canal one evening at sunset, 'chatting' to the black swan and watching the sun gild the stone and glass of the chateau. Paradise! -

We stayed in the Mill for a week last august and had a wonderful time. The Mill itself is a lovely spacious house which is beautifully decorated and the situation is peace and quiet itself. The surrounding area is has lots to do and there are wonderful beaches within easy reach.

North BerwickAn exceptionally special place!
Left on 01/19/2013 for a stay in July 2012
We spent two weeks at Mill House in July 2012. There were 7 of us spanning 3 generations and we all had a great time! Annick and Jean-Jacques were incredible hosts and nothing was too much trouble. Our son is in a wheelchair and Jean-Jacques made some minor alterations which resulted in major advantages to our stay! The house was very comfortable, the surroundings amazingly beautiful and the area not at all touristy. Indeed Jean-Jacques told us that everyone drives through the area on their way south - all the better for those who visit this part of Normandy! We liked being able to reach 3 different coastlines in just over half an hour; they are all quite different and worth exploring. There can be few places as special, which is why we are returning this year!
