New York City, New YorkParadise at the Point Village
Left on 03/11/2013 for a stay in February 2013
First, Betty and Chris are the best hosts ever. I stayed in a studio apt at the Point Village managed by Betty and Chris for three weeks. The hosting couple go above and beyond expectations. They are true to what they advertise. The unit was immaculately appointed. What you see is what you get. They are at your beckon call whenever you need them. I must say my time spent at the point village was great, relaxing and effortless. I left feeling happy and totally satisfied. I enjoyed my meeting with Betty and Chris and have the upmost respect for them both. I would also like to mentioned the housekeeper Lorraine who comes in once a week and tends to the cleaning and other needs you may have. Thank you for making my stay a memorable one. I look forward to coming back soon

Bloomington, INStunning view of Booby Cay from the balcony in a quiet setting.
Left on 12/27/2012 for a stay in December 2012
Point Village is former resort now owned as individual condo units. The landscaping is well maintained, but some of the accessory buildings around the property are well past their glory days and have obviously gone unused for some time. It's quiet here. There are two beaches - we preferred the clothing optional one next to Hedonism and hung out there several times, but both are beautiful and we were the only ones out there almost every time. Although it was not as quiet being next to Hedo, the clothing optional beach just felt more secluded, as it is bordered on all non ocean sides by vegetation.
Point Village is away from town and from most anything else. We wanted to get to the grocery when we arrived to stock up on supplies for the week. The mini-mart nearby is a quick easy walk, but the supplies are limited. Christopher left us names and phone numbers for a couple of drivers, but the quoted price was a little expensive considering you can get a route taxi on the main road for 100J per person to the roundabout, which is what we did. We also walked along the beach to town a couple of times and while it is a few miles, it is a beautiful trip.
The room is upstairs and was clean but not sterile like your chain hotel - it had a lived in feel that was not offensive in any way. We didn't turn on the aC or TV the entire time we were there. My favorite feature was the french doors opening to the balcony. We left those doors open for the entire visit.
Cooking turned out to be on island time with the slow to heat hotplate, but the equipment and utensils provided all we needed to prepare several meals at the condo.
I would stay here again. Great, quiet location for setting your own agenda amid the backdrop of the ocean and Jamaican weather. Maybe not ideal if you are primarily looking to party. Be prepared to rent a vehicle, stay close to the property, or figure out how to use the route taxis so you can get to where you want to go when you venture out. -

LONDONMagical stay in Jamaica
Left on 04/17/2012 for a stay in March 2012
We went as a couple and our 5 month old son, and it was just ideal. The hospitality from Betty and Chris was second to none. Chris offered to take us to the shops, the local market, the airport. Betty went out of her way to answer all my questions about Jamaica prior to leaving and have it ready for Zack. Such a lovely couple.
The room itself was beautiful, so many lovely little touches, very serene, the bed was comfy and massive and the view is to die for. We walked the whole of Negril and couldn't find a better view!
Point village is just ideal. We personally do not like the big all inclusives and always choose something a little more private and special. Point Village was just this. Such a gorgeous private bay and very quite sometimes it was just the three of us swimming in the beautiful Caribbean sea . Betty provided inflatable's and snorkelling gear and we saw lots of fish plus star fish & sting ray. The sunsets are just amazing. This land is alive, if you are looking for somewhere quite where you can really connect with life, somewhere where you can feel the magic, come here. If you are into meditation, yoga or just relaxing this is ideal. I felt so sorry for everyone cooped up in the tacky resorts and felt like we had found a little bit of eden!
You will meet other quests, but so lovely to actually get to know the other guests when you do see them, everyone gathers for the sunset or you can find your own little private spot amongst the tropical trees.
It is also easy to get into downtown Negril and sample the local restaurants and yummy food.
We went with a baby, we were looking for something easy, somewhere quite where we could enjoy being a new family. We found that here. But I wasn't expecting to find such magic... everyone mentions how radiant we look after this break...
Wish we could have stayed longer... and truly hope to be back.
Betty, Chris... thank you from our hearts! Mary, Tomas and Zack!

We stayed at Point Village in December 2011 and absolutely loved it. Waking up each morning to a spectacular view of the small nearby island - it just doesn't get any better. Our suite felt cozy and comfortable and I would certainly stay again. We loaded up with groceries on our way from Montego Bay and prepared some of our own meals. There is a nearby craft market to do some local shopping and grab a bite to eat. The gas station near the market has Jamaican patties that must be sampled - get there at 10:30 in the morning as they go fast.. We rented a scooter for a few days which was a lot of fun. The beaches were lovely and we spent a lot of time paddling around and tanning. The lobster dinner on the nearby island was rustic but tasty - getting to the island is half the fun.

I recently spent a week in Negril at the beginning of this month with my boyfriend. We stayed in this sunny studio apartment with a fantastic view over looking the sea. The apartment was well maintained and had free wireless internet, cable tv and a/c. The agent Betty was very helpful and always willing to answer what ever questions we might have. I work out of Kingston Jamaica and this place is my escape it is peaceful and feels like home away from home. Best value for money

A bit cheaper with low end stuff involved with it. The swimming is the best ever, except for the sea do's while in the water. The people excepted me and where terrific. I found everyone everywhere was really great, No crime to be found. This property is special from locals to expats and tourists. This gated community has a nice touch. You don't need to bring your appetite but bring a glass of wine for the sunset everynight. Restaurants and exursions galore or just play it on low. Put it on your must do list.

Everything was great! Couldnt have asked or expected more. Waking up to a view of the ocean from a postcard, clean room, problem and hassle free! Christopher will go out of his way to make sure you are happy and comfortable. Highly recommended and a good place to be. Felt like home, but much better !

My wife and I are from chicago but we love Jamaica! We first found this studio a couple years back and stayed there ever since.. The owner was so friendly and even took us around Negril to show us around on our first day. The location is perfect for walks along the beach at any time and the property is well landscaped. There are security gaurds along the beach every 100 yards or so, we felt very safe at all times. The studio is simple and analogous to the jamaican lifestyle, it has all you need to enjoy your stay, including a kitchenette, and a fabulous balcony where we would play cards and watch the ocean (sometimes seeing a fin or two!)... We definately have a special place in our heart for this litte studio!

Wow! Where to start? We stayed here almost 5 weeks and paid cash so couldn't leave. Condo looks great in the pics and seriously you can't beat the view from the balcony. It was the only good thing about the rental. I hope I can figure out how to upload photos of this place because as nice as it looks from the pics on Trip advisor, this condo should be up for Trip advisors' worst hotel/condo award. The place was cobbled together and the rental agent was impossible to deal with.
Here are some of the things that happened...the 27" TV provided blew up...smoke and everything and was replaced with a 12" TV for the whole time. She actually charged us 10.00 extra to get cable tv channels that were supposed to be present. There were bugs all over the apartment. The agent would not provide more than 1 towel per person per week stating that was perfectly normal...maintaining that no hotel gives more than 1 towel...however that's usually per day not per week. Decorations were put up all over to cover defects...everything was broken underneath. The 2 burner hotplate had 1 so-so working burner which the agent finally replaced. The fridge was impossible to use as the glass shelves were broken-dangerous and the freezer was last defrosted several years ago. There was supposed to be a communal (for 2 condos) fridge in the entrance way but of course it wasn't working. Bedside tables were really boxes full of who knows what covered with a cloth.
We were supposed to have housekeeping twice a week but really, nothing was done because the agent never had any clean linen to replace dirty linen. We were there 10 days before we got a linen change and clean towels.
The maid would complain about the agent and the agent would complain about the maid...it was horrible. It was so bad because the agent Cortina would blame us for anything that went wrong...the tv blew up because we didn't plug it in the right socket...we never plugged it in at all. The towel and linen situation was our fault because she didn't feel we were paying enough to merit any kind of service...she made the price for the monthly rental and actually raised it 300.00 but I guess she still didn't feel we paid enough to have basic necessities.
The electricity went out for over 24 hours leaving us totally in the dark because the bill was not paid...again this was not Cortina's fault as nothing ever was. The a/C broke down because the filter was totally plugged but we were blamed for that as well.
Anytime, I mentioned the rental agent's name to anyone who owned or rented one of the 300 condos on site the person's eyes would roll...apparently she is not well regarded in the community.
Anyway, should I be able to figure out how to upload the photos I took, it will show everything!
Please do not let this review influence a rental at Point Village as I understand that most of the condos and rental agents are super...I met quite a few and viewed other condos so I would not hesitate to rent on this property...just not from Cortina. Although Betty is listed as the agent it is actually Cortina who takes "care" of things. It was so horrid to deal with her that we would literally check if her car was there in an effort to not have to deal with her.
