We just returned from a destination wedding at Villa Sur Mer. There were 19 of us, and we stayed in the Seaside Villa and in 2 Lagoon Cottages. Can't say enough about Mogonna and her staff-- we had wonderful meals cooked for us by the chef, the place was kept neat and clean by the housekeeper and gardener, and our bartender magically showed up each day to make us tropical drinks. Mogonna shopped for us and made the whole trip so easy by working with our budget and needs. This is definitely the way to do a wedding---low-key, beautiful, and fun!
Some things you should know:
*well-worth the price, as you have a chef, housekeeper, and lots of space/privacy
*gorgeous seaside location for a wedding or commitment ceremony, with good sound system
*rooms are well-appointed and comfortable
*private access to a great cove for swimming, snorkeling, floating, diving
*next to Rick's if you want to experience tourist-y nightlife
*new computer in the villa and wifi throughout property, so you can stay connected
*villa phone with free long-distance calls
*we appreciated having the satellite tv so we could watch Carolina play (march madness!)
*90 minute drive from the airport can be a little hairy... Get Red Stripes immediately!
*West end of Negril (cliffs) is lovely, quiet, worth the drive
This is a great place for a reunion, small meeting, family stay, or wedding. The Villa is perfect if you hate large all-inclusives or chain hotels and want something more authentic, but still luxurious. At the Villa, everything works on island time--but that's why you go to Jamaica, right? Just relax and enjoy!
