This was my third stay at Beach Bungalow and I was not disappointed. New carpet in the bedrooms and new furniture in the living room are very nice. The location is quiet, ocean view and easy walk to the beach. I'll be back!

The property management company was very professional and offered us a discount because of squirrel in attic. However, the broken front door that had to stay closed and a large front window that doesn't open did not allow for enough air flow through the house. It became stuffy and warm in afternoon and a musty/mildew smell was apparent in bedrooms once those windows were closed. The copper sink in bathroom was heavily stained and appeared dirty all the time. When moving furniture to pull out hideabed we needed to sweep and our dog was finding odds & ends that was left in corners. TV is small/outdated and DVD player kept pausing and freezing up, not real accomodating for movie watching. Why a toilet/sink in a closet in bedroom? No room to turn around and the small window in bedroom is not enough for airflow needed in this area. The 3 stars for overall satisfaction was mostly due to our time outside enjoying the beach and town. We will come back and won't hesitate to use this property management again, just for another property.

Very unhappy that we were not told in advance about the pests in the walls. We got in on Friday after 4 days at the Wapiti (no comment)The critters came back on Sunday with a vengeance. Why did they change the furniture? New couch and love seat very uncomfortable and OLD. I have had fond memories of the bungalow over the years, but I won't be going back. Sorry, folks.

We loved Manzanita. The house is in a beautiful area. The yard on this house is perfect for enjoying the beach view while letting your little one play. The house itself was just fine, still has original decor. We suggest the hike to Shortsands beach- amazing!

Left on 07/02/2012 for a stay in June 2012
This house in in a great location in Neahkahnie, with good views and a front lawn that is perfect for reading and watching the ocean. The house could use an upgrade in terms of living room furniture and lighting in living and bedroom areas. Pluses include a large and well-maintained wood stove, plenty of kitchen items, and good mattresses. Also they take dogs!
Response from OceanEdge Vacation Rentals - 07/05/2012

Beach Bungalow owners have already (on July 3rd! Do you believe that?) traded out the living room furniture. They have big plans to brighten up the living room walls--painting the wood paneling white--come September. Look for new lighting in September, too.

Portland, OR, United StatesWeekend at Beach Bungalow
Left on 06/30/2012 for a stay in June 2012
My 3 friends and I had a great time at Beach Bungalow. The weather turned out perfect for us and the cabin had a "funky 70's" factor!. The location is great. It's a great walk into Manzanita on the beach. The house has a strange layout and the second bathroom is basically a toilet and sink built into a closet. There is a separate shower room however. The place wasn't quite as clean as you would expect it to be for paying $95.00 cleaning charge. There's also no patio or deck but a nice lawn to put chairs and enjoy the ocean view.
Response from OceanEdge Vacation Rentals - 07/05/2012
Manager
As much as we scrub some of our older beach cottages, they keep an appearance of needing more cleaning. So discouraging to us. The upside is that the owners have already changed out the living room furniture and plan to paint the walls white in September. That will make things brighter and looking cleaner! We hope you will hurry back.

In spite of bad weather the first day and trouble with the furnace (user error, not the furnance) ou stay was wonderful. Even thojugh the cold night we had was because I didnt understand the thermostat,Julianne comped us an extra night and it was the day the weather cleared so what would have been a disaster turned into a wonderful respite from everything. Thanks so much, I loved the place.
Response from OceanEdge Vacation Rentals - 05/14/2012

This made us feel so bad, we invited these renters to spend an extra night even though someone had to play hooky from work in order to take us up on it. The thermostat does work--and if there is trouble again, we hope the renters call at night instead of freezing!

Left on 08/24/2011 for a stay in August 2011
The house was dated but mostly clean. Seems like quite some time since it has had a deep cleaning and it needs it(blinds, window sills, cabinets, etc). I happened to notice a lot of lint sticking out of the dryer vent outside the house which would indicate
that it hasn't been cleaned for some time(Fire hazard!!). As a previous reviewer mentioned, there isn't much room for storing anything in the cabinets. Definitely needs a good culling of stuff. What's the use of having several nonstick pans taking up space
if only one is in usable shape? The fridge was out when we checked in and they provided 2 coolers with ice for our use. The new fridge arrived the next day. Great service there. Customer service was fine but for one incident: My husband tried to confirm that
they'd received his fax and the woman on the phone was extremely unfriendly and rude. Since my husband rarely complains of unprofessional behavior this woman must have had an exceptionally bad attitude. All other interactions were professional and reasonably
friendly. We had a good time. Great, out of the way location with view of the beach. Feels private. We hope to return soon! -

Great location across from the beach and in a quieter part of town. The home is older but most appliances have been updated. Only complaint is the small freezer, couldn't put very many things in it so wish I knew that ahead of time. Old funky house, but

Great beach house with really easy beach access. We liked that it was near enough to town but aout of the hubbub. Hose reached out front to hose off the dog (and our feet)after a sandy day at the beach. We watched the pelicans dive into the ocean from the dining room! Thanks!

Beach Bungalow is not fancy, but has everything you need for a family of four with a dog. Don't bring six or someone is in the living room on the hide-a-bed. Access to the beach is excellent, the entryway is a great place for a sandy dog to hang out, and the home was clean. It is not fancy, so don't expect that. At least one recliner should be replaced, but our teenage son sat there mostly and his young body can take it. I do wish Neakanie was more successful in residents trimming trees. The view could have been so much better with just a little trimming, and if it's not done, even more of the view will disappear. This is not a "stare out the window at the view all day" home. It is a "If you look right between those two houses you can see some of the surf", so don't pay a lot extra for the the view. Just cross the street and see it up close for yourself.

This quaint home was very comfortable and spacious. The ocean view was perfect - watched the ocean from the dining room, living room, and front yard. The beach was a very short walk across the street and down a tree-covered path. It was perfect for my annual get away with my dog - we had a fabulous time. I'd rent this place again!

Left on 07/27/2010 for a stay in July 2010
The house is in a great location, right by the beach at the quiet north end of town. It's a 15 minute walk down the beach to downtown. The lighting in the house is pretty pathetic (all overhead fluorescents) but otherwise fairly cozy with a decent kitchen. Dog friendly though a bit strict about sand and fur, and there is no enclosed outdoor space. Also, when we were there cooking supplies were nonexistent – bring your own salt and cooking oil!

We stayed at the Beach Bungalow for a week and loved it! The part of the beach with the closest access is very mellow - about 1 mile outside of the main part of downtown - so our dog could play and we could relax! The house is quirky with a lot of charm, and everything was clean and comfortable. I don't think the pictures do it justice... it's much sweeter than it looks online! We would definitely go back to the same spot in the future!

I say no that I would not recommend the property as the beds were horrible, especially the twin beds. The person with me who was going to sleep in that room ended up spending her nights on the couch as the beds were completely unsleepable. The oven was also an issue, it burned things quickly, even when the temp was lower (and the dials are hard to figure out). If those items were replaced, then I'd say I would recommend the property and perhaps even stay there again myself. Otherwise the house was fine, but the poor beds and oven were a huge issue.

Wonderful home with very large open area for relaxing or playing games with friends and family. Came with every kitchen item you could want. The sheets, blankets and pillows were all very clean and in like new condition. There were bookcases lined with books that were entertaining, not for their literary value, but for their beach campyness. A fine engineering family must have lived there at one time as the house has even the tinyest detail figured out!
