The apartment is not what I would call luxurious. Access is difficult and not quite close enough to the city centre to be a leisurely walk. The apartment was advertised as luxurious; yet there was only one TV in the three bedroom apartment. Fittings were basic and bathrooms were small. We arrived on a clear day yet the second level was stifling and there is no air conditioning. The managers of the apartment only provided one key for six people and we were also required to pick and deliver to a separate location.

We understand that 'luxurious' is a subjective term and while this is an NZ$800,000 apartment and modestly priced given this value we are determined to tick all the boxes for as many guests as possible. In this quest we will be reviewing the wording of our listings to ensure clarify as well as making a number of improvements (extra television, airconditioning, more art and entertainment options) over the coming months!

We stayed at this waterfront penthouse apartment for about a week. Everything was very clean, lovely furniture, good kitchen, nice layout.
The apartment is located close to Tahunanui beach and to Nelson town centre, which makes staying really comfortable.
Several lovely restaurants are in walking distance, plus fish'n'chip shop selling fresh from warf fish, is just opposite the apartment. Also we liked the balcony with BBQ for casual eating.
Service was great, absolutely helpful. We had once no power in a few power points upstairs, and that was sorted in couple of hours, very impressive fast service. We would like to stay there agian when visiting Nelson. -

The apartment is very nice but not really a penthouse - it is on the top floor of a building along with a number of other apartments, some of which are available to rent at lower cost. The area is noisy from the container port opposite and heavy traffic on the road outside. Otherwise stunning views from The Penthouse are interrupted by a large cement silo (see my photo) that the publicity shots manage to obscure. The apartment has two bathrooms and a separate toilet, not 3 bathrooms as the property manager told me when I called to discuss options. If he had given a more realistic description of the place I would have felt less disappointed – and probably booked somewhere else.The area is not too convenient for the city centre. What the website describes as ‘a beautiful waterfront stroll’ is actually a fairly long walk along a busy main road with all day heavy traffic. There are signs that the area will be a lovely holiday destination one day but its still very much a work in progress. In my - and my two traveling companions' - opinions The Penthouse is overpriced and represented as something its not - high end luxury accommodation.

Thank you to team Jarrod, Holiday Nelson for looking after us and suggesting The Penthouse where we stayed. The Penthouse is amazing, comfortable, boutique and brilliant. It was great to be on the deck, waterfront watching the boats in the afternoon Nelson Sun, drinking a local Pinot Gris. I must say the fish shop (fish off the boats) over the road rates with anything in the world. The Green Lip Mussels are amazing!
