VancouverVictoria Falls Guest House is a real gem!
Left on 03/22/2013 for a stay in March 2013
We stayed at The Victoria Falls Guest House this past week with our 3 kids and it was fabulous! We were looking for accommodation that was close to Baker Street, had a kitchenette and was clean and comfortable. This guest house met and exceeded all expectations! Cathy ann and Kelly were there to greet us, tell us about Nelson and make sure we were comfortable in our suite. They were helpful, polite, friendly and knowledgeable. The suite itself was clean, very comfortable and nicely decorated. We also enjoyed the lovely afternoon sun while sitting out on the wrap around deck. We enjoyed it so much we will definitely be staying here when we return to Nelson and are happy to recommend it to anyone!

We stayed here because this beautiful home caught our eye from the road. We stayed there last minute, and couldn't have been happier! Very comfortable, extremely clean, and just felt like home. We were there for a ski vacation and were very happy with the location. Just minutes away from Whitewater and steps away from great food and coffee! The owners are so very nice, and live close by if you have any questions or concerns. I would highly recommend this for anyone looking for a cozy place to stay. We didn't want to leave! The price is right too!

Left on 08/18/2012 for a stay in August 2012
What We appreciated:
A welcome sign with our first names on the door.
Coffee beans & grinder to be able to enjoy a coffee on the wrap around deck in the morning of this beautiful Victorian style home located within walking distance of everything downtown.
The beautiful garden of roses, lavender, and old-fashioned flowers in the front yard.
Parking in the back...don't bother taking the car...we parked for four days and walked everywhere. By the way, I have a small newer convertible and left the top down the whole time it was parked. It was perfectly safe.
Quiet and serene. Nice neighborhood and very quiet in the evenings.
Convenient and comfortable. Kitchen with fridge, dishes, toaster oven, coffee maker and a comfy QS bed and quilt.
Clean and bright. Lots of natural light with large windows and tall ceiling.
Very clean upon arrival and then you are left to your own devices so it feels like your home.
The receipt for credit card payment left in box so no need to hunt down the owners who do not live on the property.
Free Wifi with the password on the info sheet placed on the kitchen table.
What would be nice?
If they placed a full length mirror somewhere.
What could be improved?
Nothing really. What improvements I could suggest would not be feasible given the age and size of this older Victorian style home. If there was a possibility then these are the suggestions I would make but they are not going to ruin it for you if you decide to stay here. So here goes my wish list for improvements...
The bathroom shower is small so someone who is 6' with broad shoulders would have quite a time in there.
The air conditioner is not central but a little unit that you just fill with water and put in an ice pack out of the freezer. Set the timer for 7 hours and it will shut off automatically to avoid it running dry. We were in Nelson when the temperatures were in the mid 30's celcius range and the little unit kept it cool. Just don't overfill or you will be using your towels for the wood floor. No...it didn't happen to us...I learned from a past experience.
I plan on returning to stay here again! Great time and both my friend and I agreed it was very reasonably priced. Thank you for a great stay Cathy-Ann and Kelly!Response from Kelly Toole Cathy Ann Glockner - 09/11/2012

Thanks so much for all of your kind words and your observations and experiences. We will get right on the full length mirrors in the suites...that's a great idea! The shower....well, that's abit harder but I will say that our upper floor suites have full tubs with showers so all big burly folks should request those suites. Maybe a good idea is for us to put that onto our website. Thanks so much for the input....we are always happy to hear how we can improve our place! Cheers and have a great fall and winter! Hope to see you next year!

Our stay at Victoria Falls Guest House was nothing but enjoyable. A beautiful, exceptionally clean and well cared for place to stay, while only a few steps from the core of Nelson. The front garden was a pleasure to walk through, and the scent of roses and lavender greeted us at every arrival and departure on our four day visit. Cathy ann was incredibly welcoming and genuinely happy to meet us, and answer any questions we had. It felt like visiting favourite relatives. We would recommend this quaint guest house to everyone we know.

The June Bugs are a group of 5 women who had the pleasure of staying at the Victoria Falls Guest House. The Victoria Suite was perfect for us, with full kitchen facilities, beds for everyone, BBQ on the deck, own private entrance and warm and cozy. We could not have asked for better "landlords" Kelly and Kathy were super! We would highly recommend the Victoria Falls Guest House to anyone visiting the Nelson BC and surrounding area. We had a glorious experience in Nelson this past weekend! The Victoria Falls Guest House was a fantastic place to stay. The rooms are beautiful and cozy, we never ran out of hot water even with 14 people showering at the same time, the kitchens were well supplied and functional, and the overall vibe of the place was warm and easy-going. Just what we all needed! We are looking forward to returning next year.

This is our third annual family ski trip to WhiteH2O and a pleasant stay in Nelson. Our stay at the Victoria Falls Suites added to the the quality of our stay due to the coziness, cleanliness, and convenience of it's location. Although there was a large party in the adjoining suites, we barely heard them the whole time. The owners were very kind and the price of stay very reasonable.

Cathy-Ann and Kelly are very welcoming and accommodating. I find the suites (I have stayed in all 4) are spacious and quiet, and the beds are very comfortable. The balconies and verandah allow one to enjoy the fresh air and views. Everything one needs (French bakery, groceries, yoga, restaurants, Oso Negro coffee, etc) are within easy walking distance. I will be back.
