Cambria House is located in a quiet, leafy street, just 5 -10 minutes walk from the city centre; it is easy to walk downtown in the evening to the restaurants and bars and you don't have to worry if you have a drink or two. There are also plenty of arts and crafts within walking distance; Nelson is known as the arts centre of New Zealand. Founders Brewery for locally -made organic beer-tasting is close by. Parking at Cambria House is off the street, safe and free. Transportation available for visiting the Abel Tasman National Park, wine tours and other activities is available with pickups at the door. Shuttle or taxi from the airport is NZ $20-$30, door-to-door.

We stayed 2 nights at Cambria House; a beautiful old building with an unusual( for New Zealand) slate roof. We received a warm welcome and good advice and lots of leaflets on where to eat and what to do. Free wifi too! After staying in a hotel where wifi was expensive this was very welcome.
Our room was a bit on the small side but this was not a problem on such a short stay. Everything was spotlessly clean.
The centre of Nelson was a short walk and there was a wide selection of places to eat.
There was a rose bush in the front garden with the most wonderful perfume.
We found it a good centre for touring the area. -

We really enjoyed our stay at Cambria House. We felt welcome, David and Karel are perfect hosts. Everything was available and after a delicious breakfast we were ready for a new ( holi)day!

Cambria House is a beautifully appointed period property in a great location, with easy walks into town. David and Karel were very welcoming and were always available to answer questions without being intrusive. Breakfast around the dining table was a great opportunity to get to know the other guests and the food was excellent - the best muesli we've tasted, fabulous seeded bread for the toast and an optional range of cooked dishes. The information room was well stocked and David and Karel gave good tips on places to eat in Nelson and on the road to our next destination. The wireless internet connection was poor and kept dropping out but otherwise this was a perfect place to stay in Nelson.
