I recently stayed 9 nights at Captain’s Cottage on my own. It lived up to the images & descriptions on the internet.
The view of the sea (virtually on the doorstep) was endlessly engaging. I ate breakfast on the front veranda. I watched (& chatted to) fishermen, saw cargo boats, sailing ships in dozens & kayaks go by. I could see snow capped mountains in the distance.
Captain's Cottage is centrally located in the ‘real’ Nelson - on the waterfront.
All furnishings are clean & stylish, with charming decorative touches.
The bed/bedding was very comfortable with fresh & cosy blankets, pretty cushions & throw-over’s’.
The Cottage was clean & well maintained throughout. The upstairs views & bedrooms just as gorgeous too.
It was private, cosy & like home. I did my own washing (great machine) & filled the fridge with food. All utensils were on hand. Everything was there - parking bay, iron, hair dryer, torches, extra linen, tools, movies, music & TV, books & games.
The managers, Jarrod & Peta-Jane Buchanan supported me with some special needs I had. They were consistently relaxed, professional & available.
I enjoyed soaking in the old fashioned bath each night!
Oh, & the floor boards are astonishingly beautiful!
The windows are large, some with painted glass - stunning.
The outdoor setting & garden is cute, cosy & private.
This is a very competitive cottage which I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend. Money well spent. Love to come back!
