Three Mile Lodge is a intriguing property located 3 miles from Nelson City, a southern exposure on the north shore of pristine Kootenay Lake in beautiful British Columbia, Canada.

It is a majestic log post and beam structure that can accommodate a larger number of guests. The open floor plan allows for stunning panoramic views of the lake and mountains. This very comfortable residence possesses a unique rustic grace. It features fine woodwork aside rough hewn logs, two outstanding and artful river stone fireplaces in the main room (one with fountain) and stained glass windows. Floor to ceiling windows open wid...e onto a huge 1000 sq. ft. sundeck running the length of the house, eventually leading to grassy levels and a private sandy beach below. The property is situated amongst cedar trees and offers secluded shady areas of refuge from the summer sun. The Lodge is elegantly furnished throughout, has a large dining table seating 10, a full kitchen and includes utensils and linens.

For the pianist amoung the guests there is a well tuned Bluthner grand piano and for readers, a small library with a collection of eclectic titles.

It is not often that a house of such character and luxury is made available as a vacation home. WINTER SKI VACATION

In winter, a short drive out of Nelson is one of the finest powder skiing venues anywhere.

Whitewater Ski Resort (www.skiwhitewater.com/ www.powderhounds .com) attracts powder hounds, boarders, cross country enthusiasts and skiers of all types from all over the globe to enjoy this relatively unknown treasure.Three Mile Lodge is about a 20 - 25 minute drive from Whitewater Resort the and provides a welcoming and comfortable hiatus from a day or week of intense skiing or boarding. The two classic fireplaces that face each other from opposite ends of the great room providing warmth, one gas and one wood burning, were assembled by a European artisan with stunning water molded stones collected over the years from creeks and river beds across the Kootenays. Each stone is unique and different but artistically positioned to complement the other in colour and form. Truly a study in the beauty of local nature, as is Three Mile Lodge itself.

For social types, Nelson's evening entertainment is just a 6-7 minute drive from the Lodge and provides a great selection of restaurants and drinking establishments, often with live music, to complete the day's activities. A Junior hockey team, Nelson Leafs, offers a further night's entertainment and the opportunity to meet more sports minded Nelsonites.

SUMMER FUN

Amenities include table settings for ten outdoors or in, and a barbecue and accessories for splendid on deck summer dining. The view afforded the diners is a spectacular panorama across the lake to it's uninhabited southern shore, flanked by the forested Selkirk Mountains. Eagles and osprey can often be seen fishing for their own dinner with a graceful display of soaring and diving, These and other usual waterfowl sightings make the large deck a pleasant place to relax and enjoy a drink or two.The grounds surrounding the Lodge have a number of flowering beds and fragrant blossoming trees in summer. The grounds then wind down towards the lake to a large flat grassy area suitable for exercise or activities like frisbee or net games. Boats can be anchored and tied or pulled up on the beach. The lake is a delight; clear, clean, wide and long and relatively sparsely populated by motor boaters. It is enjoyably swimmable from mid summer on.

For the golfer there are 3 tournament worthy courses within short driving distances.

  The property we rented last summer at 3 Mile at Nelson BC was truly a dream come true. We were in search of a top notch and quality rest area for our holiday. What we found was a beautiful place right on the lake 3 miles out of Nelson. We had biked in from Saskatchewan and after a long trip were glad to settle in for a holiday in the Nelson area. My son and his girlfriend joined us after a couple days and a couple more friends on their bikes showed up during the week. The home which we stayed was beautiful, well-kept and exactly what we wanted. All we had to do was show up and bring a few groceries, everything else was provided that we needed for the week.
  The view of the lake when you open the doors and see through the whole front glass windows was amazing. Being able to relax on the huge deck and barbecue was so good for all of us.
  This property was clean, well-kept and Tim and his wife were so easy to deal with it even made the whole experience even better. I highly recommed this for anyone looking for a high quality and relaxing vacation home to stay at.
