Dublin, OhioStaying at The Meadows makes for a Relaxing Vacation
Left on 04/28/2013 for a stay in March 2013
My wife and I have stayed at the Meadows twice during ski season. It is located in Uptown Nelson close to the rail trail on the edge of town. It has great views of the mountains to the north and west of Nelson and you can see the Kootenay River though the trees. Even when staying in the winter, we have enjoyed sitting out on the front porch as the sun sets over the mountains, having a hot beverage before heading inside.
Jacqueline has done a wonderful job restoring the interior of the house. The open concept first floor complete with her handcrafted recycled wood cabinets and window shutters, is very comfortable to relax in after a day of skiing. The kitchen is fully stocked with what we have needed to fix great meals and the barbeque gas grill has come in handy for doing great steaks. We have always enjoyed looking out at the city of Nelson and the mountains through the large picture window over the sink when we are in the kitchen. Cable TV and wireless access is available in case you have the need to stay connected with the real world.
After a day of skiing, Phyllis finds taking a bath in the craw foot tub relaxing (there are two in the house) and the perfect way to help wind down. We have only used the front bedroom upstairs (there are two other bedrooms) and have found the bed to be comfortable and cozy to sleep in.
Even though the house is in the city, it still is on the edge of town and with the large yard you are not close to any neighbors. Thus we have found the house to be a very quiet and private place to stay.
We are looking forward to our next stay at the Meadows

Edmonton, AlbertaSun-filled Lazy Days!
Left on 03/17/2013 for a stay in April 2012
Our two-week stay was absolutely wonderful. The Meadows is located at the top of the town, with amazing, unimpeded views, particularly from the kitchen and fabulous yard. The hammocks were a bonus; we sat in the early spring sunlight, protected from winds, soaking in the warmth.
Living space is terrific; living, dining and kitchen are open to each other, yet somehow comfortably intimate. Furnishings are perfect for the space, and the long couch is entirely too comfortable! Even the dinnerware is well-suited to the ambiance of the space. The light levels are incredible; the windows added to the traditional farmhouse have transformed the living spaces.
The house has three well-appointed and comfortable bedrooms, with enough space to store our clothes, and enough light to read at night. It is well-ventilated with great cross breezes for those hot days. The baths are both equipped with luxuriant, long, old-fashioned tubs - and we do like to soak!
While we had all the usual amenities, we especially loved the privacy and intimacy of the huge garden. Jacqueline mentioned that she was planning a porch/deck adjacent to the kitchen, which will be outstanding for al fresco dining!
The town was a short drive away, or a steep walk away. (great going down to town, not so nice coming back!) The hiking trails were outside the door, and definitely manageable for any walker. The Meadows is right at the edge of the treeline, and so covers the best of all worlds - the civilized town and the wild mountains.
This was an extraordinarily quiet and comfortable home away from home. Jacqueline is a convivial and helpful host, and can answer just about any question on Nelson and surrounds. -

Surrey, BCAmazing Stay in Nelson !!
Left on 03/15/2013 for a stay in December 2012
We loved our 6 day stay in this gem of a home ! My spouse & I rented the Meadows over Christmas 2012. It is a beautiful restored heritage Nelson home, & a perfect venue for us as we rendevouzed with our 4 young adult children over the holidays.
The home is so warm & cozy ~ the main floor has a lovely fully equipped kitchen with a magnificent view, with a beautiful open area with fireplace in an adjoining great space, plenty of couch space to hang out & large DR with farmhouse table which easily seats 6. The owner met us upon our arrival, & gave us a full tour, which was such a helpful bonus ! To top it off, she left us with a platter of homemade chocolate chip cookies, which were still warm !!
This home is only a short drive to the ski slopes & 2 minutes to downtown Nelson, where you can get lost in the unique variety of shops ~ arts, culture & great restaurants abound in Nelson. Loved the Kootenay co~op !
Very quiet neighbourhood with great walking / hiking trails right outside the door. Beds were lovely, with upstairs / downstairs full bathrooms a bonus. Claw foot bathtubs were divine !
This was our first time trying a holiday rental home, & we couldn't have had a better experience. Highly recommend the Meadows if you are looking for a comfortable home away from home. We will definitely be back very soon !!
